The guy behind the counter (I think he's the owner) is awesome. Real nice, helpful suggestions and passionate about the business he's running. Cute little shop too. The food however was just ok. I got the farmers sandwich with side salad and my friend the coconut curry soup and I think Greek salad. Her soup was cold (bummer) but at least had good flavor. My little side salad was yummy with spinach, cucumber and diced tomato, but the sandwich wasn't so great. The black bean hummus was pretty unique but made the bread soggy and the deli sliced turkey was shredded real thin.. the sandwich over all unimpressive. Great iced tea selections and my almond milk latte was tasty too. The place/food felt clean and fresh but I doubt I'd honestly come back. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to check this place out since we were in the area and were in the mood for 'something healthy' so after searching for these key words and seeing the name of the restaurant.. I thought it was meant to be! lol I ordered the sun dried chicken wrap and my boyfriend ordered the caesar wrap with avocado along with the strawberry moon magic tea and we were very pleased! Three stars for a nice staff but I'd rate the food as two. I got the Italiano panini; the bread was soggy, the onions super salty, and the meat tasted like it had been frozen. Shout out to the portion sizes though; big side salad that came with my sandwich. I felt a bit cheated paying almost $10 for a sandwich that wasn't great. My fiancé got a cappuccino, which he described as eh. Three of us went, and all ordered different things. The Farmers Sandwich, the Walnut Orange Wrap and the Cobb Salad Wrap. We also tried the Tomato Basil Soup, the Mint Strawberry Lemonade and the ice teas. All of them were delicious. Very fresh ingredients and delicious flavor combinations. The Owner was aware of when he needed to step in to help a new employee keep the line going. He was totally on top of it. The only reason they don't get a 5 star, is that they were out of hard boiled eggs for the Cobb. We'll definitely go again and hopefully I'll be able to change this from 4 to 5. read more

I came in on a Monday holiday at 4pm and for almost an hour, was the only customer there. Nice and quiet, free WiFi and great customer service. I ordered a Carribean sandwich (tri-tip protein w/ fresh fruit) & iced tea, and the total came out to $13. The flavors for the sandwich were good, however the mango salsa was invisible and there was a little too much black pepper for my personal taste. The fresh fruit that came with the sandwich consisted of cantelope (which I'm allergic to, not their fault), 2 yellowed apple slices and 3 cubes of watermelon. The iced tea is self-served unlimited refill, and they were great! FYI, after eating most of the sandwich and a few pieces of fruit, I had a severe bout if nausea. I can't tell yet if it was the fruit or sandwich, but I hope it's the fruit. Usually I would give a 2* because of the nausea, but the customer service was great, food was good and drinks are great. read more

Too bad because it would have been great. I'm hoping they see this and lay off the salt for next time. Something Healthy is a quaint little cafe I happened upon a few months back when my company moved to Monrovia and it's been a regular spot of mine anytime I want something light and healthy for lunch. The prices are very reasonable, compared to the chain cafes, and everything on the menu is made-to-order using the freshest of ingredients. You can order a salad (which can be made as a wrap), a sandwich, or a panini with one of three protein options, and they all come with a side of chips, salad, apple, or banana. They have bottomless ice teas, smoothies, and espresso drinks, and a great staff who go out of their way to provide the best service possible. Of course, like all cafes worth going to, they tend to be the busiest during lunch hours so please be patient and enjoy a complimentary slice of fruit (when available) on the counter. read more

I went back to this restaurant after not going for a few years because I work a bit far away. However, realizing I was close today at a time they were open, I stopped by, carrying a few unused gift cards in hand. The owner told me the restaurant had changed hands, yet was still gracious enough to give me two free sandwiches for these ancient gift cards he could not read. I got the southwestern wrap and cuban pannini, both with vegan chicken. They were delicious! I'd say the food is even better than the old restaurant, and the decor is lovely and welcoming too. Since the day I started coming here I have always been treated well. They even took the time to remember my name and how I like my order. My usual is the blueberry/banana smoothie with the whey protien, extra thick and double blended. The owner goes out of his way to make sure it's made correctly even if I don't ask.
