Read the cancellation terms carefully. I came here only because I found a nail tech artist I liked on Instagram and she happens to work here. Many nail tech works here. The experience and quality will depend on the nail tech. This is a large place with many nail techs. Limited parking, be prepared to park on the street. They all share the nail polishes and have their own set of tools. My nail tech didn't wipe my nails clean with alcohol after buffing it. She sprayed alcohol on a brush and merely swiped my nails a bit. I'm sure there were still bits of buffed nails left on my nails. It made me concern with the hygiene since there as so many nail techs and clients sharing the same pool of polish. I had nail art done on my own natural nails. It lasted a good 4-5 weeks before it started chipping off. The top coat was shiny and kept its shine during the duration. However from early on, I had small cracks - not large enough to peel/break off, and not visible with the light colors I have. It's because the gel is very hard gel, and where my natural nails bent, it cracked. I have very hard natural nails and I keep them short, and they do bend on the side with pressure. (Fake nails wouldn't have this problem.) I've had nail art gel done in other places and this is the first that resulted with these little cracks. Between the hygiene protocol and strict cancellation & tardiness policy that charges full amount, it's hard to say I'll come back. read more

I visited on Sunday, August 4th for a builder gel set and initially, the service seemed great. The staff was friendly, and I was happy with how my nails turned out. However, by the 8th or 9th of August, I noticed that the gel was starting to lift away from each of my nails. Today, the gel on my right hand ring finger completely popped off while I was typing. I ended up removing the gel from all of my nails in less than a minute-- just shows they were barely hanging on. I'm extremely disappointed because I expected the manicure to last much longer due to the technician stating they should last at the minimum 4 weeks, especially since I had gel polish.I won't be returning for future services. read more

However, upon sitting at Paige's area, I saw their cute blob frogs on one of their samples and that's what we ended up doing. Paige was super meticulous and took good care of my poor cuticles. I've been coming here for about 6 months and have no complaints! I started with an Apres set and then transitioned to gel overlay once my natural nails were longer. Alyssa is my girl! She's always down to do fun designs and she's good at her job! I think a lot of the nail artists book out a few weeks so make sure to pre schedule your appointments (especially if you need a specific date or are looking for a specific artist). Booking: I had to book an appointment for my gel nails with elaborate art at fingerbang a few weeks prior to get the technician that I wanted (which is very typical with high end nail techs). The tech I chose to go to, Camille "CC" reached out prior to my appointment and asked what type of design/art I was thinking about. When I said I wanted animal crossing themed nails she happily agreed! (You can book appointments/talk about ideas with her through her instagram: @camilledoesnails) Service: I walked in about 10 minutes early to my 4 pm appointment and was immediately greeted by the receptionist. A few minutes later Camille came out and told me she was finishing up an appointment and would be with me in a few minutes. We started at approximately 4:15 and the entire set took approximately 3 hours. Nail Tech: Camille was an outstanding technician. Not only was she meticulous but she had a warm and energetic personality that instantly made me feel welcome at a studio I had never been to before. She also made sure to ask me details about the art I wanted, like if there were any particular characters or color scheme I was going for before starting. I really appreciated how she tried to understand what I was envisioning instead of just jumping in, so we were on the same page the entire time. But I felt immediately at ease here. The vibe, the amazing staff, and the service were all incredible. Lexxa was the artist who did my sculpted gel full set and she made me feel so comfortable right away. I really appreciated how Irene was right on time for my appointment, also she was friendly and welcoming! My gel pedicure was HEAVEN- especially as it's been an embarrassingly long time since my last one. Irene was super chill and checked in on me often! The process took about 55 minutes and $50 for a gel pedicure (not including tip). I scheduled two appointments online through Schedulicity. One for me and one for mom. I did the mystery gel mani ($65) and mom did single color gel ($45). Our manis lasted WAY longer than any of the other spots we tried. The artists are all on IG so you can see different nail art ideas and their work is amazing. They are always so busy that I had a hard time getting an appointment in so the online reservation service is clearly necessary. I came to this location because I'm big on nail art. Each time I come in I show my tech a plethora of nail art images I like and kinda let her choose what she's feeling the most from those. I love that the tech is willing to go for it even when I don't really know what I want! I've been pleased with the art each time. I'm also licensed to do nails and am very adamant about cleanliness and expect a thorough job and I'm never disappointed here. I have never arrived late or missed my appointment and that seems to be the reason for most the negative reviews so if you can show up on time expect to love your experience. So when I found out I would be in Portland for business I decided to book an appointment with her to get my nails done. She replied quickly and told me what I needed to know. When I got there the person who greeted me was really nice. Libby was on time for our appointment and was super nice. The two nail artists on either side of us were also nice. Conversation flowed nicely between them, me, and the other two clients next to me. It made the experience a lot of fun. Libby asked what I like color and design-wise, and I said pink, sparkly, unicorns, and skulls. She said "How about a unicorn skull?" I was like yessssssssss! Then she pulled out some fab colors and sparkles and rocked my nails OUT! She drew a unicorn skull free-hand on one of my nails - totally intricately detailed. When she was done I was AMAZED and so pleased. I've never had a gel manicure before and had no idea they could last this long! It is now four weeks later and my manicure is almost perfect still. I wish I could afford to fly to Portland regularly to get my nails done by Libby Lux at Finger Bang. DO NOT GO HERE. If you're an ordinary person who just wants a good set of nails, no amount of money is worth giving Finger Bang your business - trust me. To say they are anarchic is putting it mildly. The level of discrimination is horrific. I'd been going there for months, rarely talking except occasionally to my tech - I usually just plugged into a movie on my iPad. I chose nail art like the Texas state logo on one nail before my trip to Dallas; another time I had an American flag on one nail, a thin blue line on another. Not long after that, I got a call from Wendy, the owner, saying they weren't comfortable with me there and she'd cancelled my future appointments! You don't know me, but I'm kind and personable, I enjoy new situations and new people. I'm the antithesis of a loud-mouth, aggressive woman! I was floored....until I figured out why. My choice of nail art was "offensive". Wendy tried to tell me I had said things I absolutely had not, and acted in ways I've never known anyone personally to act. She even said they were offended when I said to a gentleman in there how nice his nails looked. I did say that! SHE said I shouldn't have spoken to him at all, that they value their non-binary and trans clients. (He looked like a nice man with nice nails to me....‍) and he was pleasantly responsive. There's not nearly enough room to fill in the utter nonsense she tried to fill me with or how it affected me. Apparently I'm not "woke" enough, my nail art was somehow offensive....good grief. I literally don't think I can express how excited I was to have my first appointment at Finger Bang today with Asa! I had been planning this for months, and today was the day! I love the facility and it's open-minded, friendly and unique atmosphere. The parking was tough- parked around the corner in a lot that I found tucked away. Everyone from the receptionist to the other nail techs were so wonderful and kind. Asa did my nails and she was quite literally one of the friendliest people I have ever met. I felt like I was talking to one of my best friends! She made me feel so comfortable and at ease. I told her I have some special events coming up but that she had free reign over my nails. She did NOT disappoint. I had no expectations going in to the salon, but whatever thoughts I had in my head were blown away with how fantastic she did!! My fiancée used to love coming here because they're one of the only places in the area doing sculpted gel nails, and they did some good work. Unfortunately, after 2 years of being okay they got shady -- screwed up the appointment time in the reminder in order to charge the ~$150 no-show fee, etc. The really fun bit was finding out it wasn't just us they'd done it to. We won't be back. CLARIFICATION: no attempt was made to work with us, we were simply told that we were on the notification list, it was simply "unfortunate," and that there was no time today. The whole exchange lasted less than a minute, and felt pretty scammy, especially after being loyal customers for years and literally thousands of dollars. UPDATE: a worker we saw at the salon messaged privately to tell my fiancée how hurtful it was that she'd posted a negative review about the experience with the company (on her personal Instagram account) about her experience. That part was just an extra upsetting component. Our issue is with the management and their patterns of behavior, not any of the artists working there. While visiting Portland I made sure I could stop at this spot and get my nails done. I got lucky I could get an appointment short notice. They had openings for gel manicures. If you want an acrylic set I recommend booking out a little further if you want your nails done a certain way for an occasion. Grayce was my nail artist/technician and she did an amazing job! Even better than what I pictured! I wanted a nice Valentines look since it's my favorite holiday and I told her what colors I loved and what designs I wanted and told her she can do them in whatever order she wants and also add her input for what would be nice. We had some nails with a glossy shine finish and some with matte and I liked how she suggested mixing textures. I LOVE how it came out so much. She has so much attention to detail and really takes her time making your nails perfect. If I lived in town I would be a regular, but I plan on coming back every time I'm in town. TERRIBLE I very rarely leave bad reviews. The manager of this location made for a terrible experience. I wish I didnt have to leave this review but she was so aggressive I don't want anyone else to have this experience. She was confrontational our first conversation. My appointment for a mani pedi was at 1:45pm on a Saturday. At 1:30, I called to say I was in stuck in traffic and would be 10 minutes late. She said that was "on the border" and that I could not be more than 10 minutes late. When I arrived at 1:53, she was again confrontational, unfriendly and unwelcoming. My technician said she could no longer provide a manicure and pedicure and that I had to choose one or the other. The technician was also unwelcoming and unfriendly. It was really strange how aggressive and hardline they were. Exactly the opposite of a relaxing or fun experience. There was no music playing and my technician seemed inexperienced and fumbling. I was so excited to schedule here! I booked an appointment for myself and a family member in hopes to come in and experience this nail shop. Unfortunately my child displayed ill symptoms with a high fever when leaving for my appointment so of course I had to miss my appointment and tend to my infant immediately. Because my child's symptoms did not show up within their cancellation policy time frame, I got charged for $200 worth of work I did not have done. I called very apologetic to explain what was taking place and was told "oh well, you didn't show". When stressing my concern with how this unfortunate situation was handled I was told the owner would be calling me to see if there was anything that could be done. The owner never called! I got there at 9, the technician said she had tried to call me to reschedule (yet again) for 10pm. I was frustrated but what are you going to do - I went and got a coffee next door (I was not offered a drink) and came back with coffee and a book to read. No one talked to me between 930-11pm. I was honestly in shock and in retrospect can't believe I waited that long. I anticipated some kind of acknowledgement or reconciliation, but when she didn't even acknowledge that she had me waiting for TWO HOURS I told her I wasn't interested anymore. I've been getting my nails done here for the past few months, and Finger Bang does good work. Tiff and Elvi are my go-to people. They are both efficient, friendly, and easy to talk to, which is a big deal when you're sitting in a chair with them for 1.5+ hours. My most recent set was done by Elvi and I was very pleased with both the quality and the speed. I took this set on vacation for a week, then got COVID when I got back, and my nails still look flawless. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars: sometimes, you have to wait a long time for your scheduled appointment. This hasn't happened to me recently, but I came here a few times last year and needed to wait 20-30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time because my person got stuck doing some intricate nail art on someone else. I checked in, and was just left waiting there with no communication or explanation from anyone. It would've been nice to at least get periodic updates while I was waiting. I was just sitting there, wondering if they forgot about me or something. The quality of work is easily 5 stars though, and that matters the most! read more
