The manager at this location is absolutely the most unprofessional, aggressive person I have ever met. I was trying to return some female betas they had advised me to purchase. They said if they did not get along I could return them. So I brought them back and I was going to buy a new one single beta. He got so irate started screaming at me, making a scene to the point where the customers had to tell him to stop. When my husband came in to ask to review the video of him basically assaulting me, he refused and said there was no audio anyway, so it didn't matter. Thai petco locations going down hill. The drive up is non existent every time I've done a pick up. I have to go inside and the don't even know there's a customer waiting. The seem to have the right amount of staff but no one is ever at the register. The other day I went in while it was a vet day. I walked in with a cat and Nancy was chatting it up with the vet assistants. She saw me coming I have to ask her to please excuse me. She then continued to talk with her and block the way. I went grabbed all I need and headed to the register and she was still chatting it up. I say that to give context for what's next. As I approached the register is was again empty Nancy was the closest person to the register. A mother employee came out of no where and while Nancy was pretending to log in. She said oh he can help you be he can log in faster. Mind you she had a good min ahead of this guy. She just didn't want to do anything. She then went back and kept talking and hanging out with the vet tech person and kept chatting. Everyone seems overwhelmed no sees to know what they are doing. It seems like you go in. I've been patient for 3-4 months now while "people are in training" and needing to cancel booked apts that I'd had for weeks only to book me 3 weeks out and now just looked (June 30th) and you have FOUR DAYS IN late late July, like last days, four days in Aug also last couple days and zero time in Sept. We got 2 new members in our family!! Meet Indigo and Fast Shadow! My kids wanted a pet and my husband and I thought fishes would be a good pet to start with. We got them each a betta fish. This Petco didn't have the best reviews but since we were around the area we decided to stop here and check out their fishes. My kids were so excited to pick out their Betta fishes! We bought food for them but their bowls and gravel we purchased somewhere else. The store seemed well organized and they seem to have almost anything you would need to care for your pet. I have to say that the customer service we received was really good. The lady at the register was friendly and gave us so tips on how to care for our new fishes. read more

This particular location HAD been my favorite Petco store to bring my dogs for their grooming as well as pick up their food and treats for many years but my goodness smh ‍ I don't know what happened to the quality of their care in their grooming department . On three multiple occasions their grooming appointments were canceled day of, due to the groomer not showing up. Today I showed up again and was notified right as I was attempting to check my dogs in that their groomer wasn't going to be in. This caused a huge inconvenience as I was on my way to an important appointment and didn't plan on having to drive all the way back home to drop them off. I was late to my appointment and very frustrated. I will no longer be coming here for anything and am extremely disappointed in the decline of this locations integrity and customer care. read more

My dog got a really cute groom by Nancy today. He is a mini Goldendoodle. My family is obsessed with how cute he looks. And so soft. One star off bc it took over 3 hours but I think they over schedule her and it's not her fault. My mobile groomer is $125 and this was $130. read more

Please let me say, I'm more of an easy 'high-rater" customer and feel good about telling others what they do well. I am simply not happy with this Petco, because the wheatgrass for cats is more often than not in bad shape. I've let this go literally for months, in hopes it would turn around. Unfortunately, it has not changed, which is why I'm writing this review. This live wheatgrass is an expensive item, a couple cents under $10.00, and your 'master' if you can keep it alive for 3-weeks with steadfastly following the instructions on how to make it last. If you compare the advertised picture of what Petco suggests you are buying to the uploaded photos (the one on the right was the best of what they had), you will be able to see what they are offering in reality does not fit what is advertised. This is not sturdy and hardy, and is on the brink of turning as bad as the others in the accompanying photo. Wheatgrass should be crunchy and healthy for cats to eat. This is flimsy, not full, soft and wilting. Think of yourself eating a salad you paid $10 dollars for that is the latter of what I just described! Not cool. When asked for a discount on this item, they said they "can't." When I asked to speak with the manager, whom I was told is Nancy, the person told me she is in a meeting. When I asked when she would be out of the meeting, I was 4:00pm. The time was 12:00pm that I inquired. Wow; a four hour meeting. Mine don't even last that long!! Not good business, not caring to be fair with customers, and not caring about the health of their pet-customers to provide such a low quality consumption product. Plus, it actually sticks in there. Yes, it's a pet store; however, I have been in other pet stores that do not smell. That's beside my point though for this review. Shame on you, Petco in Janss Market! I'll try PetSmart next time. read more

I have had the worst day today, and i came in almost 8pm to buy cat food for my cats and he just happened to ask how my day was, and saw how much cat food i was buying, told me about this vital care plan and how it would help me save money. My bill was gonna be 160$ it came down to 114$ im so grateful i ran into him and the other women at the front they were so helpful showed me how to upload my vet bills to the app so it would give me more discounts to help me save on all the cat food i buy for my babies. I had an appointment there, for my dogs Rabies vaccine and they refused to give it to him, because they said I said, he had a serious reaction to a vaccine , which I didn't say. Once we got to the right kiosk they were busy helping walk-ins. Again I made an appt. What good is an appt if you're going to help whoever comes first? Waited there 30mins before leaving. Vet wasn't even there and over heard he's very flaky and sometimes doesn't show up. Jessie the store manager is the best! She was EXTREMELY helpful with getting an issue solved for us. We are vital care members and our online orders have continuously been getting cancelled, -which we tried calling customer service about, got a case number, etc and the company stoped responding. We mentioned this as she was ringing up our cat food, she called customer service and was able to get our repeat delivery orders re-instated and working correctly for our vet recommended cat food (that we were having to buy from chewy because the petco site was not working). Not only is she helping the company increase revenue, she is one of the best managers I have ever interacted with at any store. Great customer service, great at building customer loyalty, very professional and friendly and she gets things done! Very nice and clean location. We bought 2 betta fishes (Delta tail and Stars and Stripes) for my son and daughter and they were beautiful! The fishes looked healthy and well kept. After patronizing Petco for years, I decided to take my business to Pet Food Express. It was always a big ordeal to get Petco to match other retailers prices. I was spending $400 per month on dog food and treated like they were doing me a great favor. I walked into Pet Food Express and have been treated professionally every time I visit. The last two times I went there, I ended up standing at the register by myself for several minutes, while there were MULTIPLE employees standing around and talking within sight. And when they finally made their way over to the register, their attitudes were something else...These people are more jaded than the workers at Chipotle! Every single employee at this Petco hates their job and it shows! The hiring manager here must be a real winner! And Petco customer service, don't bother replying to this, instead, take the following advice...The solution: Replace the incompetent manager and all of the egregious employees with people that are actually motivated and want to help...OR, save yourselves the trouble and close down this location like you did with the Westlake Village store. If I could give zero stars that's what I would give. I had give the groom specific details of how short I wanted my dogs hair and they completely butchered it. It took them 4 hours for a shitty hair cut. Then the groomer proceeded to lie and stated that my dog snipped at the chippers, which wasn't true bc I watched her shave my dog the entire time. This review is specific to the grooming department. After going to the Moorpark location for 7 years and having amazing customer service - that location closes and this is the next closest to us. There is a very rude groomer there name LYRIKA GRIFFIN who gave us lots of attitude for being 15 min late to our appointment, I apologized and explained I was coming from 40 min away and had a toddler in tow and the fact that we had an appt two days prior in Porter Ranch that had been cancelled by the store and we were not notified and showed up to be turned away because the groomer called out. There was no other dogs there and the salon was dead, I asked if we could still be seen please and she refused. When I pointed out that we had never been turned away before for being late she sat down and started typing furiously as I waited. I thought she was going to help me reschedule and then after waiting awhile in silence as she ignored me I asked what she was typing and she said she was "taking notes." After leaving I tried to use the app to reschedule for another location and found that it wasn't working. Turns out that she turned off my online booking privileges! I called the corporate number to complain and they lied and told me it was a "technical issue" but another employee confirmed with me today that we had been restricted. We ended up going elsewhere that day for grooming. Two months went by and today I called to make an appt because it's time for my dog to be groomed again. A different employee booked the appointment and then a few minutes later called back and said they had to cancel the appointment because the notes on the account state that there had been an "aggressive altercation." So essentially this rude gen Z employee didn't want to deal with us again and lied and exaggerated the situation in her notes so that she could justify blacklisting us from that location! We spoke to the manager and discussed the situation and explained that it was a normal discussion and if we could see the camera footage or why another staff or manager didn't get involved that day if it was "an aggressive incident" he said he would talk to the staff to clarify but we don't expect any resolution in our favor. I have found many Reddit threads discussing the same type of thing happening at other Petco locations to various people! They block you from booking and lie and say it's technical issues. I hope this terrible employee meets karma as she ended an almost 10 year run of dedicated patronage because of her bad attitude and lies! Judging by the many negative reviews about this store and how rude the staff is and the bad grooming deportment, it's clear that there is a problem with this location that needs to be addressed by Petco Corporate. Was disappointed in two things: 1) There were several items that were listed on their website menu that were not available (cioppino & dungeons crab), 2) I ordered chips, guacamole and salsa as an appetizer The salsa canes in little plastic cups like you get for takeout. Depending on what you are looking for but I seriously would not recommend the grooming department. The young girl with purple hair spent much of her energy belittling me and trying to make me feel inadequate as a pet parent. I came in for a nail trim because I'm afraid to do them myself but wash and brush them weekly myself. They are beautiful dogs and she never said one nice thing!! I plan to have their nails done more often but never there again!! She even made up some death story if they are not done more often!! She succeeded in humiliating!!! So very uncalled for!
