I ordered the bourbon street again. Always flavorful. This time the potato salad was the best part. They changed the recipe. I think they add fresh dill now. So good. Also I tried the Mardi Gras plate with fried catfish. The catfish was flakly and didn't smell fishy. Very nicely prepared. Also it comes with peas on the side. All I know is that when I checked out Yelp and all the recent reviews from my fellow Elites, this place pretty much received five-star ratings and all the reviews were recent. My sister's husband said that his Surf and Turf was so good that his leg was shaking! I tried it and I loved the charred taste from the steak. - I'm not a big mac and cheese type of guy but the way it pairs with the fried chicken is straight up deliciousness in your mouth! - Their gumbo is great. My hubby and I stopped by Heard Dat Kitchen while visiting NO. We drove by the building twice before realizing that's where we were going. TBH, place definitely looks sketchy. However, the young lady who took our order was very nice. We paid for our food, and waited the 15 mins in the car as they don't have it setup for inside waiting. I'll tell you what, the food was tasty, absolutely loved the Heard Dat fries, the blackened fish and the seafood spectacular. Oh and the drinks? I've always heard about this place, and decided to finally go today. I ordered Bourbon Street Love, and subbed the potato salad with green beans. The chicken is a chicken breast which sometimes can come out dry when fried. However, this is not the case here. The chicken breast is fried to perfection and it's juicy. I ordered a to go order, so even with the sauce on top of the chicken the skin was still crispy when I got home!! The Mac n cheese is good as well, a tad bit under seasoned, but I like that. Most places when you eat their Mac n cheese it's like eating a salt stick. So they made it just right! I also ordered the bread pudding for dessert!!! Words cannot describe how good it is. The only reason for the four stars instead of five is because of the green beans. I love green beans, and am use to them being very savory. After meeting the owner Chef Jeff and sampling his food at Black Restaurant week sneak peek I knew I HAD to go. He told me the Superdome was one of his top sellers. This dish is comprised of Blackened Fish topped with Lobster Mashed Potatoes, Lobster Cream Sauce, Sweet Cream, and Crispy Onion Rings. Sweet dear! It is just as good as it sounds if not better. This meal was heaven on my tastebuds. The restaurant itself isn't anything as fancy and elaborate as this dish. They have a window to order your food, a few benches out front, and a few tents with tables 'round back. You can eat your food outside or take it to go. Full disclosure, in nearly 100 degree weather I 100000% took it to go, but it was worth the short wait in order to have this food. I decided to check this spot out at the end of my trip to New Orleans! I actually saw this restaurant was highly recommended on Yelp! I am surely glad I tried this place out. When we pulled up to the front it was certainly in a building that I would normally never see myself going in, it's street parking as well. We walking inside where we met the owner in a small little waiting room, my assumption is that area was for pickup orders. The owner then told us to follow him out back to the dining area and we were both very hesitant to follow him. When he took us to a door that lead to a small room with one waitress (The Owners Daughter) and a few tables. There was no windows which really threw me off. We were instantly greeted by our waitress where she gave us the run down on the menu along with a brief history of this restaurant. The staff were so sweet and friendly. They honestly have the perfect person at the register. We ordered the SuperDome, Bourbon St and bread pudding. They gave us two Dat Shyt drinks for free. So with the Bourbon St I substituted my potato salad for lobster potatoes which was a very smart decision because those potatoes were so good. Incredible! Our best meal during our week in NOLA, better than Jacques Imo's and Luke. Rumor has it that the chef here sharpened his skills under the tutelage of Emeril Lagasse, but never advertises that fact because he wants the dishes to speak for themselves. And they certainly do. Wow, this place is incredible. So glad Yelp led us to this little place off the beaten path. We took an Uber/Lyft to get here from our hotel, but it was totally worth it for the delicious lunch! I got the Bourbon Love, which was fried chicken with crawfish over the top, a side potato salad and it was so crispy, hot, flavorful and wonderful that I'm totally longing for this dish as I relive it by writing this review. The blackened fish was savory, tender, and cooked to perfection; the red beans and rice totally complimented the fish. My wife had the Skeech Shrimp, and was equally savory combined with a lightly sweet dressing on the bed of lettuce the shrimp sat on.
