Will not be back. Have been going here for nearly 20 years and this was my worst experience yet. Place was sold and food is by far much worse. Pesto omlete which I have been eating there for years was black inside and tasted horrible. Supposed to be avocado and pesto, but was black inside. Pancakes were OK and edible. Ordered h and k potatoes instead and normal ones and they had jalapeño peppers and chili's in them. Too spicy for breakfast and it never mentioned that on menu. We have been going to the H&K for breakfast for at least 30 years, This year was very disappointing! The pancakes tasted hard and dry. One day we had eggs and they were fine. The next day, they were the worst I have ever tasted. They had a taste that I couldn't even identify and scrambled into tiny bits. However, the staff was kind and competent. Also, not that this matters, but they have taken away the charm by trying to modernize it! The beautiful cozy atmosphere has disappeared. Bye Hearth and Kettle! So sad!!! By the way, H&K, on one of those days we spent $125.00 and on the other it was $225.00. This place was empty when we went in and there was only 3 tables, but our it seemed like our server was on day 1. Everything we ordered he had to come back and ask questions he should have asked when we ordered. Not when he's putting it in the system. Very disappointing experience. The food was tolerable for someone starving, portion sizes were fine but there was nothing special about the food. The avocado toast was just sad looking. The service staff was pleasant but incredibly slow, and the place felt run down overall. Even the bathroom soap dispensers didn't have actual soap in them, just watered-down liquid, which is pretty concerning. I know things change over the years. Hadn't eaten here in awhile. Memories of great food and service brought us back while on the cape. They HAD no more, a great lobster pie. The men's bathroom was not well maintained; not really clean. The service was good but the kitchen was slow. We had to wait for a fairly long time for our breakfast. One star because what little food I did get tasted like it belonged somewhere between a Stouffer's frozen dinner and the McDonald's Filet-O-Fish. Excited by the prospect of enjoying more delicious, authentic New England seafood, but turned off by the overpriced menu, my wife convinced me to try the Seafood Medley. I really wanted to order from somewhere else and I really wish I would've. $30 for a subpar meal that looked like a frozen dinner that came with some unsalted fries and a condiment sized cup of coleslaw. My wife wasn't that happy and ordered the $10 mozzarella sticks; Sonic's taste better for less than half the price. Upon delivery I noticed the bag felt light and when I opened it up I could've swore I was missing half my order. Just overall not worth it. Learned my lesson though, you don't always pay for quantity OR quality. I'd genuinely be embarrassed if I was the owner or manager of an establishment that gave so little in terms of quality and quantity and in return expected so much from my wallet. 1/10, do not recommend. read more

We used to enjoy this restaurant over the years but in the last year the food has suffered greatly. The clam chowder was consistently very good but since the change in ownership and staff it is either watery or thick with the taste of filler like flour. There is very little taste of clams. The chicken pot pie used to be great with real potatoes and a puff pastry. It appears they are now using a floury mix not real potatoes. They have that sticky and gluey consistency that strongly suggests its a mix that is usually used in institutions. It is really a shame. I wish the owners would eat there themselves which will help them wake up and change back to what it was before. It is the last H and K left. We hope it can be saved. Yearly girls trip to Cape Cod and to Hearth & Kettle. After a day of misc site seeing we stopped at Hearth & Kettle for dinner. Food never disappoints. Turkey club with fries, made with real off the bird meat, cape cod Rueben; which was flounder, coleslaw, 1000 island dressing and cheese with fries and a buttermilk chicken with tomato, bacon and lettuce served with fries. Great breakfast! Good portion sizes. The fruit salad was awesome! Our server Michelle was on top of her thing here! Pleasant, personable and attentive. My grandmother used to love the H&K. It's a cute big place with a cabin like feel. The hot food was excellent! Eggs perfectly cooked, shredded home fries flavorful! The cinnamon roll pancakes were so fluffy with crispy edges and the coffee was flavorful & plentiful with a carafe left at the table. We will stop in again our next visit up to the Cape. read more

We have looked forward to having breakfast at Hearth and Kettle when we're on the Cape cause they closed ours. It usually always good but the last time we went a week ago it wasn't. Bacon was fatty. The salad was quite nice with a lot of good bacon, fresh spinach and some egg. The Turkey dinner came with mashed potatoes, mashed squash (surprisingly tasty), gravy and cranberry sauce. The Turkey was fresh and tasty. The mashed potatoes were just right and even the cranberry sauce was nice. Things here have changed...a Lot, and not for the better! We have eaten here numerous times over the past few years and up until the plaza/buildings were sold earlier in the year things were good. Everything in that restaurant needs updating from the worn-out floors and furniture to the old-school style and wood plank walls by the windows. Even the lighting sucks. Oh, wait, they did update their prices--MUCH, much higher for everything and not worth it at all. Used to be a good meal at a fair price!! The waitresses I got to know and liked very much no longer work there. The young man in charge that evening was emotionless and although he did what I asked, he was a poor representative of public customer service. On the other hand, our waitress, Tiffany, was very pleasant if not enthusiastic. She did her job well, and I left her a decent tip. What happened had nothing to do with her service. My hubby ordered a steak omelet and was sufficiently satisfied. I ordered their "famous" Turkey Dinner and opted for the Quinoa salad in place of the mashed taters (gotta maintain my girly figure, y'know!!). To be fair the turkey was really good, the winter squash was fresh and the gravy was a good complement but a bit lumpy. I ate what I could and as we were perusing the bill, I saw a tiny ant crawl out of the quinoa salad!!!! Then a flea or gnat flew onto the top of the quinoa. When I lifted up the small bowl a tiny spider was crawling on the table. I marched up to the front and told the young man. He apologized and comped my meal. I went back to the table and my hubby pointed out a couple of more teeny bugs on the rough plank wall next to the table. I told him not to pay his bill either and let's get out of here. We should have raised a ruckus but rather quietly left, making disgusted faces. I felt sick to my stomach and almost barfed. I handed the young man our check and told him to comp all of it, we found more bugs. He heaved a sigh as if to say--oh, no, not again. He once more apologized, half-heartedly, and we walked out the door. We will never return! They should have closed their doors if the new owner had no intention of making any good, positive changes. Unfortunately, we didn't take any pictures. Please, there are so many good, clean restaurants in the area, choose any other one but this one. I should report this to the Yarmouth Board of Health, but without pictures, I have no proof. Just YUCK!! read more

It sounds like a restaurant cliche: location is essential. But image, Hearth N Kettle is nestled between steady Route 28 and a quaint pond. Just today, my wife and I were warmly greeted and ushered to our favorite table, a snug along a north window in the Farrington Room. Our engaging server, Viktor, knew my wife's favorite, a French Martini, was doable; and my red Montepulciano wine was simply superb. With a very inclusive menu, my wife chose their classic Baked Stuffed Cod, a thick tender filet laced with buttery stuffing, flanked by a heap of home-made spuds and sauteed squash and carrots. On my end, the Baby Bella Veggie Omelette with little shredded potato cakes was huge, garden fresh and delectable. The coffee, robust and smooth: a perfect partner to their signature Petite Indian Pudding, enough for two. And this was one destination on a brisk winter afternoon we can remember fondly. read more

I know few places that personify the New England experience better then this one. It's one of my favorite places to eat on the Cape. I love the inside of this place. It looks exactly how you'd figure a New England restaurant on the Cape would look. It's all wooded and has that quaint New England charm. Hearth N Kettle oozes warmth and I am always happy to eat here when in the area. So when I was last here,, I had a Hamburger and it was terrific. I actually really love their burgers. They are always cooked to order and are very good. Also when you say "medium rare" that's what you get! So many places get that wrong. It is also tough to find good hamburgers on the Cape because almost everything is geared toward seafood. And that's nice but ..I mean..I don't know about you but I can't eat seafood for dinner for five nigh ts straight. Sometimes one just wants a good burger and fries. They have plenty more on their menu besides burgers though. Hearth does comfort food wonderfully. They have salads and soups and sandwiches and breakfast at night. It's a beautiful place to eat and the food has always been delicious. Their pancakes are luscious. Breakfast at night is always a fun thing and I have done that here. Also they have fresh delicious juice. I have been coming to the Cape for years and I am glad Hearth is still around. This was our first visit here even though we come to the area at least once a year. We got to the restaurant at opening because we are early birds. The staff was very nice. We sat by the window overlooking the water. There is a little dog house looking thing for ducks which is cute. I had the cinnamon French toast my husband had the Irish Benedict. Both of our meals were very good. The menu looks really extensive and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. We will definitely be back on our next visit! read more

Went because, according to their website, the have breakfast all day. Well, thats an F'ing lie!! We went, waited for the hostess to seat us because the girl who greeted us didn't know where to put us. Its a Tuesday afternoon at 3. The place has 2 other couples seated. Its not rocket science. Hostess comes and we ask for the breakfast menu. She says that they dont do that anymore. We mention the website says otherwise and she says yeah, its wrong. I'm no webmaster but I'm pretty sure 10 min of work will fix that. The place is old and very outdated. I felt like a kid in the 70's. Food was ok, nothing I'd make a special trip to.
