    Two eggs toast and bacon
    Ilana S.

Red Cottage is our favorite breakfast spot on the cape (and off cape!). Others clearly agree because we even had a 15 min wait in mid February ! Always worth the wait though for perfectly done breakfast ( the bacon and the popovers yummm) and the friendliest service!

    Cleanest cook line!

Best breakfast on the Cape! Fabulous, friendly service, fresh & delicious, and so many interesting options especially if you factor in the daily specials! These guys do it right. It's like watching a well-oiled machine! Great diner vibe!

Arrived around 10/10:30; 15 minute wait to sit at the bar. He loved his avacado toast and home fries, which were like smashed pan fried potatoes. The bacon-yum!!!! French toast, thick, most, delicious. (Note: cash only, ATM available)

Chocolate hazelnut crepes with eggs and homefrees

Love the variety of all of the Gluten free options. I had the Mashpee with chocolate chip pancakes, applewood bacon, home fries and scrambled eggs and you can take some of it home. My husband got the hazelnut crepes which is cool. They have lobster popover, french toast foster with rum, cinnamon bun french toast and of course lobster rolls, and lunch options too! It's always delicious here. We come back once a year to the Cape and always go here! Omelettes and bennie's, and fruit pancakes are also awesome! Their missions look huge but they're not gf. Love the 50's ambiance. I can imagine it just as it's decorated for old fashioned cape experience. Red Umbrellas in case it's really hot outside, their own parking lot, and usually a wait for a table but only 10 minutes for two people. Well worth it. Prices are good too:). GF options are delicious!

Omelet special with chorizo, potato, and cheese and cinnamon muffin

Stopped in for lunch and was greeted and seated immediately. Our service, who was in training, appeared quickly and explained the specials of the day as well as the muffin selections. The menu is pretty extensive covering breakfast and lunch and pretty much should satisfy everyone's interests. We ordered scrambled eggs, the omelet special, bacon, and two cinnamon muffins grilled. Drinks arrived quickly and the wait for our food wasn't long at all. Our food arrived hot off the grill. The scrambled eggs were done perfectly. The bacon, asked to be crispy and it was, had a good apple flavor and appeared to be coated in brown sugar which made it very sweet and sticky, but good. The omelet consisted of chorizo, cheese, and small potato cubes. It was piping hot and stayed that way through most of the meal. The chorizo was ground up and plentiful throughout the omelet, which was quite large. Also came with home fries, again asked they be well done and they were. The muffins were good with a cinnamon crust on top and cinnamon scattered throughout. Grilled nicely with the muffin paper still on them so they were easier to handle although we ultimately ate them with forks. The nice touch was packets of butter sitting on the table so the butter was nice and soft. Our server was very pleasant and attentive checking with us on how the meal was and for drink refills. The only comment was that the bacon and omelet did come with a dose of grease. Expected with the chorizo omelet but wasn't necessary with the bacon. Overall we were pleased and we will go back again.

One scrambled egg with applewood smoked bacon, home fries and sourdough toast
    Steve H.

This place is amazing. If you didn't know about it you would never find it. Thanks to yelp I did. Got there and had to was told the wait was 40 minutes since there were lots of people waiting. We were seated in under 20 minutes because there was only two of us. When you enter the restaurant the number of people inside was staggering. The menu has dome great choices on it but chose a simple breakfast of eggs bacon home fries and toast. I got the one scrambled egg with applewood smoked bacon, home fries and sourdough toast. I must say that the bacon was the best I've ever had!!! The sourdough toast wasn't very good as well.

I ordered eggs, toast, home fries, and a side (bacon). Everything was overcooked/burnt except for the eggs (see photo). It took a while before the waiter came back to check on us. To his credit, he did ask if I wanted something else when I pointed this out to him, and he later took my meal off the bill. However, a plate like this never should have been served. Also, seating for two at this place is tight--a small table up against the wall. It wasn't crowded when we arrived, and when we asked if we could sit at a more spacious 4-top table the host said we could not since there were only two of us. Won't return.

The check for one person after all the undisclosed extras.

This place came highly recommended, so even though there was a wait I thought I'd give it a try. Dining alone I could sit at the counter which saved a little bit of time in the line. But what I didn't understand was, if you don't really pay attention when you order, you could end up paying over $40 for one person. Here's how that played out: I ordered one of their featured omelettes with goat cheese and chives, they asked what side I wanted, I said bacon. No mention that bacon was two dollars extra, on top of the nearly $16 omelette. I actually don't care that much about money, but the comedy of careless price gouging just continued; I was still hungry after the omelette since the bacon was to greasy for me and the toast was soaked in something that was probably butter but tasted more like oil.... So I asked for a single blueberry pancake, was told erroneously they were out of them... I opted for a half waffle with fruit. When the bill came: $2 extra for bacon, $3 extra for at most a dozen blueberry's, $3 extra for 8 slices of past prime Banana, $3 extra for a few strawberries. (An order of a full waffle with fruit was less than $17, but with $6.99 for half a waffle and $9 for fruit on it, it was $16!) Add the coffee and that's how I got a $40 bill for one person. Could have had the full buffet at Chatham Bars Inn, a 5 star hotel, for possibly less. It was confirmed by them that the bill was correct. Only because I questioned it did they make an adjustment to $34. Not worth the hassle. Buyer beware.

The chefs are true artists, imagining and executing haute cuisine with skill, precision, and personality. We opted for the optional caviar starter course, which was brilliant. The caviar, served with Pringles potato chips and tangy egg salad, was an exquisite introduction to the tasting menu. The house-made sourdough focaccia with homemade butter may have been the best bread we've eaten. The dayboat scallop was pan-seared and paired with ginger whey-poached pork belly, Anson Mills Carolina Gold lobster congee, and a sake-soy veil. It was incredible. The peas and carrots course of Thumbelina carrots, sweet peas, whipped coconut, and carrot-mint consommé was unlike anything we've experienced before. It was inspired. The fluke was sorrel brioche-crusted and accompanied by razor clam escabeche, sauce romesco, and sea beans, was magnificent. The chef spoke about harvesting the local sea beans himself, and the razor clam purveyor happened to be dining alongside us. It was a memorable and distinctly Cape Cod moment. The intermezzo was a cranberry membrane filled with a refreshing burst of vodka, and delightfully cleansed the palate. The optional foie gras bonbon, encased in milk chocolate, was another triumph. We agreed we would have missed out had we passed on it. It was one of the finest foie gras bites we've ever enjoyed. The tri-tip sirloin course featured American Wagyu with sweet onion soubise and toasted ramp-and-vinegar gnocchi. "Amazing" hardly begins to describe it. The Humboldt Fog cheese course was dramatically torched tableside and served with blueberry shallot jam, toasted milk bread, and smoked almonds. Sublime, artistic, and utterly delicious. The included dessert course featured caramelized white chocolate, lychee, pink guava sorbet, macadamia toffee, white chocolate gel, and olive oil sponge. It was unbelievably good. An optional dessert accompaniment, ordered by every diner, was a layered chocolate, shortbread, and banana tart topped with caviar was a playful and fitting finale. The charming atmosphere, attentive staff, and excellent music had diners on their feet dancing between courses. We finished with their homemade Mignardises and were given a lovely packet to take home which included a homemade scone. This restaurant is wildly civilized. Many courses were served on beautiful handcrafted pieces from Scargo Pottery in Dennis collaboratively designed by the chef and the talented Scargo artist Tina Holl. I offer only praise and gratitude for the extraordinary food, welcoming atmosphere, talented and artistic staff, and a dining experience that reminds us how exceptional Cape Cod dining can be. Clean Slate delivered one of the most memorable meals we've had anywhere on the Cape.

This is a really appealing, intimate, mom and pop (and summer help waitress) place. The hostess/ front of house boss, who was operating from the bar of this 10-12 table location, was gracious and endearing (in the way that an almost overbearing host can be- that meant as a compliment). The drinks took a minute, my fiancé's salad needed blue cheese brought out as it was left off (single most off-putting thing: the waitress, I suspect language mastery being the cause of this rather than malice or willful deceit, flat out told her that blue cheese did not come with the wedge salad...but when boss lady at the bar was asked, this was quickly corrected), there was a heavy does of reggae music. All of this less than optimal. The food was very good, though I can't remember off the top of my head what I had (it's been a month). Nor did I take pics: it seemed like it'd detract from the experience. There weren't any complaints about the food from others. (So I went back and looked at the menu: potstickers as an app- pretty good; baked local seafood as the main- good, but it is what it is in that not a ton of nuance added so as to let the seafood do the talking. The portion was decent for the price. I didn't leave stuffed, but for $38, very reasonable.) All in all, the first visit merits a second visit next year (as the website says they are temporarily closed to seek new management).

It certainly lived up to the recommendations. We had maybe a 3 minute wait for a table on a busy Friday morning. There were lots of specials on the blackboards on the side wall. Coffee came out quickly; it was piping hot and mellow, with very frequent refills. I did try the bread, an apple-cranberry, grilled/toasted medium with a pat of butter for extra yum. I opted for the hash Benedict with fruit instead of potatoes. I got potatoes by mistake anyway, but they immediately brought over the fruit. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the Hollandaise was flavorful, and the hash was crisp and not greasy at all. Now it's my turn to be a good friend and pass the recommendations forward for others.
