So, I know a guy who fit two of my friends with hearing aids and they are both very happy. Dr Allen Schade is the audiologist, and he even makes house calls. I live in Los Angeles and Dr Schade is in Dana Point. But I travel to Orange County on business 2 to 3 times a month. I had seen him a year or 2 ago. I called him, set up an appt for him to come to my hotel in Irvine. He checked my ears and tested my hearing. He explained that I have a high pitch hearing loss, and that's why it sounds like people are mumbling. He had a pair of hearing aids with him. We put them on, and he programmed them for my loss and let me try them for a couple of weeks. They are amazing, truly amazing. Voices are do much clearer. They make such a difference. I called Dr Schade and said I want to buy them, ( his prices are much lower than most offices because he has a lot lower overhead ). I have had them for a little over a month now and I can't imagine going to a meeting or business dinner without them. I'm very happy I called Dr Schade. Should have done it sooner.

Nancy, the audiologist took all the time needed to diagnose my hearing loss and also fit my aids to block out different sounds that were intolerable due to over sensitive left hearing from recent traumatic brain injury. Amazing what today's technology is capable of. I feel so lucky. The aids even stream to my phone so they auto connect to Spotify, POD Casts, Audiobooks & app even piped in Zen music if I want. Costco carries the name brand hearing aids you find in a audiology office but under a different name, made by the same manufacturer. You are able to try the hearing aid while in the store before purchasing. The free hearing test they give you is so much better than what the doctors' offices offer. The only difference is it is done with a computer. The benefits of purchasing a hearing aid from Costco is so much better than what audiologist offices offer for more than half off the price. The only thing about Costco is there was no Doctor of Audiology at the store when I was there but if you had a hearing test with the results, and know pretty much what you want, you don't need to speak to one. It does take a little longer to receive the hearing aid from Costco than if you went to a doctor's office. The hearing instrument specialists are pretty knowledgeable, but it depends on who you get. For me, Jazmin at the Costco Cabot Road location is the best to work with. She is patient and I trust her judgment. Her experience shows.

She explained my situation and was told I could be seen as a cash-paying patient, so an appointment was scheduled. On the morning of my appointment--just a few hours before I was supposed to be seen--I received a call from the office informing me that they had only then discovered I have a MemorialCare HMO. I was told that because they are contracted with my HMO, they could not see me as a cash patient and that I would have to go through my primary care physician for a referral. I explained that I was happy to pay cash, but I was told that wasn't an option. My frustration is not with the physicians. It is with the office staff and the scheduling process. Insurance verification and referral requirements should have been addressed when the appointment was made--not a week and a half later, just hours before my visit. ENT appointments can already take weeks to obtain, especially when you're dealing with ear pain, hearing loss, and a clogged ear. Because this wasn't handled properly from the beginning, my care has been delayed, and now I have to start the referral process all over again. As a chiropractor who has owned and operated a healthcare practice for many years, I understand that mistakes happen. However, this was a preventable administrative error that caused unnecessary frustration and delayed medical care. I hope the office improves its scheduling and insurance verification process so other patients don't have the same experience.

I went to HearingLife in La Verne, CA because the company services my OTICON Hearing Aids. When I explained that I was in the area for just two weeks, Lupe decided to do whatever she could to avoid mailing it out for service, because the time to mail it to the repair center, repair time, & return shipping time can be more than 2 weeks. The battery in my Hearing Aid was dead. It was replaced. Lupe then cleaned both my Hearing Aids for me. Daryn Carrillo, Board Certified Hearing Specialist entered my Hearing Aids into the HearingLife System, analyzed them, found the other Hearing Aid's battery was getting low & replaced that battery too. All of this Service was done at no charge - My Hearing Aids are still under Warranty. I would have paid any price for the battery replacements & cleanings. I recommend this HearingLife Center in La Verne, CA to anyone needing assistance with their Hearing Aids. Call & find out if you have one of the brands that Lupe & Daryn work on. The location in San Diego @ 16777 Bernardo Center Drive Suite E9, Rancho Bernardo, CA 92128 just called my house to reschedule my Dad's appointment. This was my first ever contact with this company and their employees so I wanted to know why my Dad has had nothing but issues with HearingLife. I was speaking with a male and started asking politely why my Dad constantly cant hear, always has to reschedule his appointments, and is told that the doctor is not available. The male employee straight up hung up on me. This is no way to handle a customer and shows they do not care. Corporate office should locate this male employee in San Diego and have him fired IMMEDIATELY. My Dad financed the hearing aids directly through HearingLife and then received an offer from Wells Fargo to pay off your loan. The payments are then owed directly to Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo needs to be notified that they are doing business with a scam company in HearingLife. This is when HearingLife kicks you to the curb because they have all of their money after Wells Fargo pays them off. So STAY AWAY and buy your hearing aids at COSTCO!!! They are cheaper and you already know that Costco has great customer service. Once again, take your money elsewhere as you will have the worst experience with HearingLife and its employees. Not being able to hear is a serious struggle and you dont want to add HearingLife to the equation to make the situation even more complicated....TRUST ME!!!
