We needed to fix AC on our property in Oak Park. The technical rep from Heating Cooling and Beyond (HCB) arrived promptly and diagnosed 2 defective items and provided estimate on repair cost. Because the cost quoted was high, we asked one more company to assess and provide a quote. They assessed 3 defective components and provided a quote. I reached back to HCB and asked to include the third item in their quotation so I could compare the two quotes side by side. HCB REFUSED to quote the third item and demanded $120 for the diagnostic visit. Apparently the owner did not like the fact that we challenged their assessment. The three items: Control box, Capacitor and Fan motor on HVAC. In the end I had to go with the other company and also pay $120 to HCB for providing a diagnosis where they had no intent to fix the issue. I would stay away from this company. read more

These guys are con artists! Called them to check on a small problem and they told me there was a carbon monoxide leak and that the hot water heater needed to be replace immediately. They gave a quote for $14,000! This seemed very suspicious, so I called 2 other very reputable companies for a second opinion and they both confirmed that there was absolutely no carbon monoxide leak, and that Heating Cooling and Beyond were trying to take advantage. What a scam. One of the other companies solved the original problem for just $125 including the part and installation. Do not trust Heating Cooling and Beyond. HCB just replaced my entire HVAC system - in two days. Amir came to my home last winter and performed a much needed emergency repair on my furnace (18 years old). We discussed replacing the entire system, but was not yet prepared to do so. Regardless, we requested a quote and promised we would give HCB first look when we were ready to replace. Our AC compressor failed recently and it got pretty hot out last week. I sent HCB a message on Yelp and Jamie immediately called me. Amir was out to our home in a few hours and we had quotes to replace with Bryant products same day (Friday). Quote was very fair for high quality equipment. We contracted also to change out the duct work and split into two two separately controlled zones (just one before). Also, HCB delivered two portable AC units to keep us cool until the system was replaced (we only needed one). Amir and his crew, with crew leader Juan, arrived Monday am and went to work. Juan and his crew turned this around in two days. Everything installed extremely professionally and our system is so much more efficient (and quieter) than ever before! I'm notoriously cheap, and always do my best to o home repairs myself, but replacing a 40 year old 5-ton package unit from my 2- story house was outside my comfort zone.
