I was able to book my consultation online and Ashley arrived at our home as schedule. It was very easy talking to her and due to her experience, she was very familiar with the electronics that we use for our cats. Ashley took detailed notes and her services also included bringing in the mail, packages and even taking out our trash! We received daily photos and updates on our babies and we did not have any issues or concerns while we were away. This is going to be a two-part review to coincide with the way Liz and Mike run their business…read more Phase 1 is to do a meet-and-greet before you board your dog so this review is about how I found them and why I opted to go forward with the meet-and-greet. My husband and I have a 10 1/2 year old dog. I don't need to tell others out there that as your dog ages, you grow a bit more protective of his care. Last 4th of July, we left our dog at the city's most expensive dog boarding place thinking, as we were new to town, that it had to be the best. Wrong! Their 24/7 camera on the crating and play area made it perfectly clear there were no humans around and we're 8 am, then 9 am and still...no person. We were panicked. While everything worked out ok (their person who was to come in had car trouble), it made for a very stressful morning. I learned you need to ask any boarding place a simple question: when does the last person leave at night and when does a person arrive in the morning? You may, I fear, be shocked by the 12-14 hour time frames. I know I was which circles back to Doggone. I emailed that question first and got back the most wonderful response that Liz and Mike never leave the dogs overnight alone. Yeah! After learning this, I was happy to sign up for Phase 1, the meet-and-greet. It was professionally and warmly handled. Liz and Mike answered my questions, asked me question and made it clear: I just could tell our dog would be in good hands. What a marvelous feeling! Paperwork is part of the process. They use the third party Dogvacay so payments are easily processed. I'll follow up after the boarding is complete.

THEY LOST MY DOG…read more Dropped my dog, Franklin, off on Sunday 11/27. Jason texted me Thursday 12/1 explaining they lost my dog... on Sunday, so it took him four days to contact me after losing my dog. Jason did not do enough when it came to searching for my dog. Did not post online. Did not hang up flyers. Did not help with search party. We recovered my dog after 12 days, but Jason and Agape Acre Kennels have yet to pay for the costs for losing my dog (flyers and vet visit). Overall, Jason is a nice guy who means well but he is not good at maintaining his kennel. There is no double gate system for dogs to enter and exit safely. Jason's lack of action after losing my dog was egregious. He paid me lip service and effectively did nothing. Also I found out they lost another dog a few weeks earlier, see screenshots from NextDoor and Facebook's Austin Lost and Found Pets.

I won't lie, part of me kind of doesn't want to write this or say…read moreanything because I don't want to have to fight for my baby to have a great place to stay, but also as a truly psycho pet parent...I know, I'll own it... this place made my heart so happy. This was my third or fourth (can't even remember the others were so traumatizing) doggy daycare to visit. This is the only one that didn't instantly hit me in the face with the smell of urine or wet dog...eww. Also, this one has amazing staff members that actually seem happy in their jobs, not just hating their lives and overwhelmed by dogs. BHV takes a completely different approach to daycare than the others I saw. They keep the dogs in play groups of no more than 8-10 dogs. Others literally got as high as 40! I had a baby anxiety attack just watching it on the monitors. They let the play groups go outside and run around for around 20 minutes and play really hard, then that group goes back to their individual dog set up, which is NOT a crate! It's this precious little white picket fence area where the fence is 4-5 feet tall...pending height of the animals (they have a room for big dogs and a room for small dogs). You bring your baby's bed, stuffed toys, snacks, whatever they need, they provide water bowls, food bowls, etc. There is a big screen TV in all of the rooms where your dog will be resting for some background noise so that they aren't freaked out by every new sound. If you use the normal space with the picket fences, your babies can still see their friends "across the way" so they know they're not alone. During the approximately 1 hr to 1.5 hrs that your dog will be in the white picket fence area resting, there is one staff member coming around a few times to let each dog out to run down the hall and say "hi" to all of it's friends and get a little energy out, if it wants. You can also actually board your animal here over night...they have many levels of quite nice spaces (a couple suites are nicer than my bedroom LOL). This review is not about that, as we only use them for daycare. My dog and others that I've witnessed get so excited when pulling into the parking lot. Drop offs have become "mom, get outta my way, love you bye, I have friends to see". They post pics of the dogs throughout the day on social media so you can see your baby having fun. My husband and I have quickly fallen in love with this place, the lovely "hoos" that run it and even the fellow parents. It just seems like everyone loves being a part of this place. I have zero guilt about leaving my kid here, as I know she is having tons of fun and comes home a tired baby.
