This is a breakfast review only. We loved the open feeling and the colors of this restaurant inside the Kimpton Miralina Resort and Villas. Once you walk in you're greeted warmly and walking into the dining area, it's a relaxing feeling. We had the Hecho Breakfast which is two eggs any style with papas bravas, choice of bacon, turkey bacon, pork sausage, turkey sausage, chorizo, soyrizo. We ordered the turkey sausage, but they gave us turkey bacon instead. Not a big deal, but would have preferred sausages. No other faults and a solid breakfast overall. The other dish we ordered was the Breakfast Burrito which had carne ranchera, queso oaxaca, frijoles de la olla, scramble eggs, breakfast potatoes, salsa roja. The Breakfast Burrito was delicious with extra fluffy scrambled eggs, well seasoned potatoes and cheese. One of the top breakfast burritos I've had. We thought dinner pricing was way too high so we didn't try any on our short trip. For a 6 oz filet, it was $60 USD. read more

Food: The baja fish tacos 10/10 Carne asada (you can ask for a bowl) 11/10 Passion fruit quartro leche cake 12/10 Sweet potato rolled tacos 12/10 Honestly the vibes are perfect for low key or fancy which is cool- pictures and the food is equally impressive and pretty! Maria is who we continually see and she makes it such a memorable experience- makes it easy to keep us coming back. Her professional yet kind and caring attitude isn't something I overlook. Hecho Libre is a new restaurant in town and can definitely be added to the list of delicious, upscale dining in the area. The sweet potato taquitos were the highlight of the night. The strong drinks paired perfectly with the fresh guacamole, salsas, and crispy chips. Don't forget to try prickly pear in your margarita! The service was good but food and drinks were slow to be delivered and served. The restaurant is absolutely stunning and unique. read more

Hecho Libre did not disappoint. We stopped in for lunch and were blown away. You can always judge a Mexican restaurant by the salsa, and theirs passed the test immediately, the red was my favorite with just the right kick, and the green was fresh and delicious. The food overall was outstanding, beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Our server, Heather, was top-notch attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. And the watermelon margarita? One of the best I've had. The only thing missing is a happy hour, especially heading into summer, it would make this spot even more of a go-to. One star, and that feels generous. Had a 7:15 PM reservation on a Saturday night. We weren't seated late -- we were seated and then forgotten, which somehow feels worse. No service until 7:45 PM. That's 30 minutes of sitting there like decorative furniture, wondering if this was some kind of immersive performance art about neglect. Here's the kicker: the restaurant was less than half full. Not slammed. Not weeds-level busy. Just empty tables and an equally empty sense of urgency. For a brand-new restaurant trying to establish itself in Scottsdale's already overcrowded, hyper-competitive dining scene, this was a masterclass in how not to do it. You don't get grace for being new when the basics -- greeting guests, taking drink orders, acknowledging human existence -- are optional. No apology. No explanation. No "hey, sorry, we're behind." Just vibes. Bad ones. If you're going to charge Scottsdale prices, you need Scottsdale-level service. What we got instead was the energy of a DMV right before lunch break. Plenty of restaurants in this city understand that a reservation actually means something. This one apparently thinks it's more of a suggestion. Raised in Phoenix, living in LA and trained by New York restaurant culture, this is a serious work of art. The passion for food is obvious with every dish. I was fortunate enough to catch their Iberico slow braised pork *kiss* Do not miss the Pescado Zarandeado if you like fish (and bring friends to help devour this entire fish). If you're brave enough, let your server know what you like, and maybe your spice level if you're spicy challenged like myself, and go with their suggestions. I had an amazing experience dining here the other night. Compared to the old JD's, Hecho Libre is quite the change! The food was incredible, I can tell that the chef was passionate about what they are putting out. The service was strong, our server was able to explain many things on the menu in great detail and gave us a lot of her personal recommendations. We never had an empty drink infront of us! The ambiance is great! The lighting was perfect and the tapestries on the wall were beautiful. It is a cozy area and we could tell how everyone was comfortable and happy with their service. The hotel and restaurant are beautiful and the atmosphere is very nice and inviting.The host and bussers were super nice and helpful however our waitress came across as rude and did not know anything we asked her.She did not check in we never got our drinks refilled or plates cleared until bussers came by.The restaurant was very empty and it appeared we were her only table so not sure why we received such poor service.As far as the drinks the cocktails were good and balanced,the appetizers were good as well,the entrees were just mid not great just ok at best and the dessert was not what you would expect of a leches cake I guess it had a twist but it was pretty weird I don't think the flavors worked well together.The whole experience was a bit disappointing not what I would expect at a restaurant in this area. read more

The absolute BEST service from Marcella! My brother got married this weekend and we saw her for breakfast for two days as our server. She checked in on us, was attentive, great energy and really made us feel welcome. The ambiance was super cozy, comfortable and intimate inside. We didn't feel rushed and really could enjoy a long breakfast as a family. We came in from California and the orange juice is one of the freshest I've had. We had a hot vanilla latte in house and then got an iced coffee to go. Marcella really made sure our family felt taken care of. We are a big family and she made a big impression on our stay. Everything was made fresh and my kids really enjoyed the buffet especially the fruit and bacon. My chilaquiles with a fried egg on top was cooked to my liking with a tasty red sauce with a small kick if you like a little spice. I do! Lovely well decorated room except some of the low chairs. Well designed buttttttt tough to have a Mexican restaurant that is average when Scottsdale has so many outstanding restaurants. Salsas.. green and red mediocre. Then we order some rolled tacos that also were average....bottom line, we didn't order more because two for two were average. Even the chips weren't warm nor that great. Tostitos are better when they are warm! Sorry you need a better chef! read more
