Arranchera entree - plus beans and tortilla, very good!
Benjamin H.

Great ambiance and very friendly bartenders - excited this place is so close by I came in here last Wednesday and sat at the upstairs bar, highlight was the skinny marg and the arranchera entree (super good!) downside was the chicken entree dish, was extremely dry and disappointing.. Good experience and I recommend to anybody in area will most likely be back, I just won't get the chicken dish again lol

The view downstairs while walking upstairs.

Unique food and drink. Both are delicious. Friendly staff. Warm ambience and elegant decorations. Perfect central location. Yummy for my tummy and good for the heart!

First time enjoying a seat at the bar for dinner last night. They have a beautiful open air patio with decent views. Our server, Lizzie (bar manager), provided great service and made our visit enjoyable. The chicken and roasted vegetables were a perfect light dinner for sharing. The chicken was seasoned great! Of course...when it's Scottsdale the prices are a bit higher than what I believe makes it a great value, but it was over-shined by great execution.

I'd probably give a 4.5 if that was possible, but 4 isn't really a fair rating. Overall the experience was great. We had reservations and were seated pretty quickly. Service was helpful and friendly but maybe a bit on the slow side. I do wish that we would have gotten a seat indoors since the reservation didn't specify that we may be outside and AZ this spring is hot as hell. Appetizers were delicious. We had the tuna crudo, which is essentially a tuna tartare with avocado and a delicious sauce. We also got the fried beef and onion appetizer, but don't remember the name. Texture was different, but we were warned of this, and it was really good. We ate almost all of it. The appetizers' size was almost too big, that we didn't have much appetite when it came to ordering entrees. We shared the mahi mahi (dorado?) and it was the bomb. Highly recommend this. The churro dessert topped it off nicely. I'd definitely recommend Pistoleros. The vibe and food were both very enjoyable!

Located in the Old Scottsdale area, Pistoleros Parrilla is a lively environment, yet dimly lit. It's a trendy Mexican restaurant that is moderately priced. Initially walking in, I loved the indoor and outdoor seating and environment. There was a DJ playing music in the background and it looked very cool. We ordered the Aracherra and Pollo Nogales Entomatadas. The Aracherra was requested "rare" and was perfectly cooked. While it was spiced quite nicely, it also came with chimichurri sauce, salsa, manchego cheese cubes, and pickled onions. You can season your steak as much or as little as you like, although it didn't need anything extra. The steak was wonderfully spiced. While my guest enjoyed her steak, I ordered the Pollo Nogales Entomatadas, which are chicken enchiladas. They were also presented beautifully. While it's meant to be tomato-heavy, it was perfectly cheesy and had chicken in every bite. Three enchiladas were provided, topped with crema and tostada strips. I ate about every bite. It was rich, but not heavy. The chicken was very good and in every piece of the dish. It also looked pleasing. We ordered a side of Frijoles Negros de la Olla, which are vegetarian black beans. Served in cast iron dish, it was very standard tasting. For a cocktail, my friend ordered a Spicy Watermelon Margarita, and she loved every bit of it. It looked awesome, too. Our server was also great. She really was patient as we asked question. The con of our meal was the dessert. We ordered churros, and they came with three sauces - chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. I was surprised to say the strawberry was my favorite. It was perfectly sweet and tart. What made the dessert bad was the fact the churros weren't fully cooked inside. The churros came out dark, but clearly not finished when we bit into them. Overall, the restaurant is worth the price paid (except for the churros). It's a great spot to hit on the weekend or with friends. The entrees were wonderful and full of flavor.

I was really excited to try Pistoleros Parrilla, but it ended up being pretty disappointing. The atmosphere is definitely cute with a fun Spanish-inspired vibe, but that was honestly the highlight. The food just wasn't memorable. The queso dried up super fast and became almost hard, with a strange taste. The filet mignon was average at best. The only standout for me was the ceviche it actually really good!!! Service was also extremely slow, which made the experience even more frustrating. Overall, I wouldn't go back

We've been to Pistoleros twice now. What an amazing new restaurant and bar in old town Scottsdale. We feel like we're transported to a restaurant in Mexico. We've had the chips and salsa, ceviche de Camaros, Sonoran short ribs, and Arroz Mexicano. The short rib was big enough to share. All of the margaritas are amazing.

Great spot. Very nice yet hip. Amazing steaks. Great cocktail + wine selection and the service was excellent and very friendly. Can't wait to go back!

Short rib with grilled vegetables

Service was amazing as well as the ambience of the restaurant. I got the short rib with grilled vegetables, the short rib did have some fat but it was a substantial and tender piece of meat. Some others at our table did have to send back their chicken due to bad taste and texture.

Avril V.

My mother and I went to Pistoleros for Good Friday and it was magnificent. The guacamole and cocktails were 10/10. The ceviche and beans were also splendid. The patio combined with the music creates such a nice ambience. Would definitely go back. Our server was Rob and he was very knowledgable as well as welcoming.

For apps we got the lamb fondue which was super tender and unique. Dipping meet in cheese? Literally nothing better. Then we also got the green chili pork stew which is a MUST try! Not too spicy and full of flavor. Also, great for sharing as you fill it in the buttery tortillas. The filet was seriously one of the best I've ever had in Arizona. It has a nice shallot butter crust and it was cooked PERFECTLY medium rare. This was a highlight. The pork chop is huge and has a nice sweetness to it. The meat wasn't dry either...it pretty much tasted like the best bacon I've ever had LOL Everyone must get the green chili Mac n cheese. Not spicy at all just Smokey and tangy and full of cheese but shockingly not that heavy. The pecan pie was unreal. Gooey and sweet but the crust was still super flakey. The brownie skillet was soft in the middle which is how it always should be. Their known for their frozen huckleberry margarita which is a treat in its own but it's not too icey they definitely don't skip out on the tequila. Rachel was our server. She's been there for awhile so you know that they treat their staff well. She was super knowledgeable and honest about certain menu items. I also spoke with the manager, Matt, who was very welcoming and seemed very proud of his restaurant (as he should be). Overall highly reccomend it here. Everything exceeded my expectations. I will absolutely be returning!

The host told us that there was open seating along the wall or under cover outside. Since the wall was full, we ventured outside near the cooler. We were given water right away but didn't even see a server, Jessica, for 12 mins. We even had to ask her for menus. It was a very awkward start. My wife ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon and a Caesar salad, plus wine while I got the 22 ounce Ribeye and a side of Poblano and PepperJack Grits, plus an iced tea. It all came to $137.11 plus tip. Our salad arrived in 8 minutes and our dinner 10 mins later. The salad was outstanding. Plenty of romaine, dressed with the right amount of dressing, 3-4 croutons and a mound of shaved Parmesan cheese. The salmon was really good, served with sautéed green beans and soy butter. My steak was cooked perfectly. It was seasoned well and the grits were incredible. They were creamy, with pronounced poblano and Jack cheese. It was the perfect accompaniment. Jessica did a great job checking in on us during our meal but, again, it was awkward waiting 15 mins for her to offer dessert and check. We will return but perhaps not during happy hour, when it's very busy but the evening staff hasn't arrived yet.

This was a true dining EXPERIENCE!!! We were treated like Royalty!!! This will be my favorite…read morereview to ever write and although my photos don't let this dining experience shine, let me tell you, it was a SHINNING EXPERIENCE!! I checked us in for our reservation and the hostess welcomed us in, then promptly took us to the table that had been beautifully prepared for our dining experience. She asked if the lighting was too dim, but it was perfect. Every staff member was dressed neatly and welcomed us as we walked by. No staff members were running around frantically, and I could tell they are staffed amazingly well. So organized and kind, genuinely smiling at us. I could tell that anyone would be willing to help us, if we needed them! Our waiter, Daniel, came over and again, welcomed us. He let us know the specials of the night and how dinner will be served. Let us know not to touch the 500 degree plates when they arrived. He took out drink orders and answered any question we had. He promptly came back with drinks and fresh, hot rolls!! Daniel took our dinner orders. We all sat and visited while waiting, enjoying our drinks and the hot rolls. Dinner was served on, as promised, hot plates!! Then, they served each of us the crème brûlée corn. All of us that ordered meat, asked for medium rare and we were not disappointed!! Our meats were spot on!!! Perfection!!! The petite filet mignon were very juicy and delicious, as was the New York strip. The Crispy Hasselback Potatoes were so good, especially with the topping. The Crispy Shrimp Deviled Eggs were so good!!! I feel like our meals were simple yet divine!! After we enjoyed dinner, we were served the Ultimate Warm Vanilla Caramel Cake, on the house!! What a nice touch!! So yummy and it felt guilty eating such a fabulous dessert!! We all shared it! All in all, I wish I could give 10/10 stars!! Such a wonderful dinner experience!! I can't wait to go back!!!!

The customized menus for occasions are a staple and always super fun and a fantastic touch and a way to stand out and be unique compared to other high end restaurants. I loved the classic but modern feel of the whole restaurant. Our server has medium length hair and there's an open flame live lit candle and every time she bent over to clean the table or put food down, I was extremely worried her hair was about to catch on fire, she did not tuck her hair or anything just free will letting it dangle hoping it wouldn't catch on fire. Very concerning. We've been here a handful of times before for special occasions and it's been fantastic. However I don't know why the flavors this time just were not it. Everything, I mean everything, was so extremely salty. Not just the seafood tower we got and the lemon pasta but the steak, the sides, everything was so so so salty. I finished 5 glasses of water that night. We also specifically requested to save the bone from the tomahawk because we like to make stew from it. Sure that's not very fine dining of us but I also don't think that's for other people to judge. But the servers didn't pack the bone like we requested. The sides were very delicious though! Slightly salty like I said but the flavor itself was fantastic!! Plenty of free parking at the nearby parking garages at the mall, just a 5min walk is all

The Papas Verde had an addicting tang from the tomatillo salsa but were brilliantly balanced out by the chorizo and asadero cheese. The shaved brussel salad could have used a little more date and chile to balance out the vinegar but I was pleased either way. The elote was probably the only thing that fell short execution-wise as I didn't get much of the chorizo flavor, but the cook on the corn itself was perfect. The Gambas al Ajillo are absolutely a must-get. Juicy, sweet shrimp with an unexpected kick from the butter sauce and unsurprisingly great bread from Noble. The Tlayuda was a little heavy on the lettuce, but the smoked pork and bean puree combo were so flavorful that it helped balance out the richness with texture and freshness. I also loved the crispy contrast from the fried tortilla. We ended with the Concha and Mango Sticky Rice ice cream which sounded pretty simple but was quite impressive in its own right. The ice cream was a touch too frozen, but it ended up working out well with the crunchy cornflake coating and lightly warmed, pillowy concha to make a really satisfying ending to our meal. Instead, we were publicly embarrassed and treated like criminals for absolutely no reason. After we were seated, I closed the curtain because the table next to us was loud and obnoxious. Minutes later, the manager, Hannah, walked over and decided our entire group was "too intoxicated" to be served. Not a single person in our group was causing a scene, being disrespectful, or acting out of control. We were sitting at our table, ordering dinner. What makes this even more ridiculous is that after taking our drink order, Hannah personally brought out three green tea drinks in champagne glasses. Then, almost immediately afterward, she decided we were somehow too intoxicated to stay. Which is it? If we were supposedly too drunk to be there, why were drinks being served in the first place? We had already ordered what would have been around a $700 meal, and instead of being treated with basic respect, we were stereotyped because we were a bachelorette party. It felt like Hannah had already made up her mind before giving us any chance to prove otherwise. Restaurants absolutely have the right to refuse service to genuinely intoxicated guests. What they should not do is make assumptions based on the type of celebration or the size of a group. This wasn't responsible service--it was poor judgment, inconsistent management, and an incredibly embarrassing way to treat paying customers. We'll happily spend our money somewhere that values its guests instead of profiling them. !!! DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS!!! We ended up at ZUZUs, they treated us with respect and dignity.
