During that time, I overheard him tell the kitchen staff that he thought he had already submitted it. Despite the mistake, he showed no apology or accountability. When my order was finally ready, I asked about the tortillas that were supposed to come with it. He told me I hadn't ordered any, but said he could add them for an extra charge. I explained that the delay and issue were due to his mistake, and that it didn't seem right to charge me for something that should have been included. He responded rudely and refused. I recently met the owner of Hector's at the original Broadway location in Chula Vista and shared my disappointing experiences at the Eastlake branch. He was very receptive and promised to address the issue. While I appreciate his willingness to improve, I want to be clear: I won't be returning to the Eastlake location until I see evidence that the staff has been properly retrained and customer service has genuinely improved. In the meantime, I'm willing to travel the extra distance to the original location because the service there is consistently better. My hope is that this level of service reflects the standard at all locations--not just when the owner is present. Waitress had an attitude when I asked for her to bring the correct tortillas. Food was dripping in oil and had no flavor. This was my first time visiting Mariscos Hector, and unfortunately it will probably be my last. While I was there, I witnessed the manager arguing with a customer and treating her with a lack of respect. His behavior was very unprofessional and uncomfortable to watch. No customer deserves to be spoken to that way, especially in front of other people in the restaurant. Seeing that kind of treatment really changed my impression of the place. I've been a regular customer at Mariscos Hector in Chula Vista and usually enjoy the food and great service from the staff. However, my last visit was very upsetting because of the manager. After I paid my bill, he asked me to get up because they needed the table. I decided to stay and order more food, but he returned and accused me of doing it on purpose. I like coming here on Tuesday for their fish taco deal. I'll usually just do pick up. We recently dined in with our family. Good amount of seating, can hold groups. I don't know why we hadn't tried this place before!!! But I been to this shopping center and it had never caught my attention, Hector's Mariscos is where it's at! Let's start from the beginning, great location, though it doesn't have any flashy signs so I think that's why I hadn't noticed it. The staff? Fantastic, greeted in the front by a very kind gentleman who gave us our menus. The restaurant looked impecable, great ambiance, music level at a good volume, comfortable seating. Their agua de horchata... hmmmmm sooooo delicious! I tried their ceviche de camarón, I love that they offer it in different ways, cooked, curtido or crudo. I prefer curtido, and they go all the way with the shrimp! They do not skimp on it and thank goodness! Their tostadas were good, and not flakey. My 2 sons both ordered tacos de pescado, they both said they were pretty good, they came with a side of beans and rice which were so delicious! (I did peek a bite out of those) Our server was so sweet and nice, very patient and pleasant. I'm always skeptical when trying a new mariscos place, being that I grew up on traditional coastal Mexican food, I'm super picky and takes a really REALLY good mariscos place to say... Went back to Hector's Mariscos after 2 years. I was here on a Friday afternoon with a party of four. Dining area has not changed but it was clean and organized. We were greeted by a smiling host and waitress. After getting seated, we were immediately served a basket of warm tortilla chips and delicious and tasty side of fresh salsa. We ordered the fried calamari and half dozen oysters as appetizers. The calamari was fresh and it was a well served amount that came with a side or tartar sauce. The oysters were also fresh and delicious! Prior to getting our entrees served, we were served a delicious "consome" (cup of seafood broth). Our main dishes consisted of Shrimp Enchiladas, a "parrillada" (surf n turf) with a New York steak and battered shrimp, a plate of grilled shrimp and a large Coctel "campechano" which consisted of shrimp, oysters, octopus and scallops. The enchiladas were stuffed and full of flavor. The steak was perfectly cooked to a medium which is how we ordered it. With the exception of the cocktail, the other three dishes were served with rice and refried beans and your choice of corn or flour tortillas. The only thing that we noticed were the shrimp, both battered and grilled were somewhat under seasoned. After this visit I have to say that I will be back and would recommend this place to anyone looking for some Mexican Seafood with the option to dine in. read more

Upon entering there was a beautiful fish tank that I admired and a few people sitting at table. I waited about 3-4 minutes before someone approached me and the restaurant was not full or crowded. The corn shells were dried out and overcooked on the grill, the fish was shredded with some tomato paste on it as far as the crab tacos I don't even know if it was crab it was mixed in with tomato paste as well. This is a review for the shrimp chipotle burrito. It was just shrimp in this creamy velvety pink/orange sauce--very simple but well done. THE SHRIMP WAS NOT OVERCOOKED! It was still juicy! Also, THE SHRIMP WAS COOKED IN THE SAUCE. The sauce was not thrown on top after the fact, like most places. For these two reasons (and based on my experience with other shrimp chipotle dishes), this deserves 5 stars, The rice and beans came on the side, which you could put in your burrito. The price was like $18 which I thought was high, but this is a sit down restaurant (for which I did a "to go" order) and it seafood so that makes sense. I also ordered a taco that had some grilled shrimp, poblano peppers, cheese (forgot the name...Taco Hector)...it was okay and may have lost some flavor in the 30 min drive. When you walk in, they have a fish tank which is really pretty then once you get past it, you can see the dining area and it's spacious with tvs and booths. Complimentary chips and salsa. Salsa is spicy and flavorful which I love! Salsa should be spicy not mild!! My go to is ceviche or cocktail. I really like their tostada de shrimp ceviche because the citrus flavor isn't overpowering but actually tasty. Plus they hook it up! Of course I have to get a corona in the side!
