Stopped here for a girls lunch/dinner with my mom and sister and holy moly, talk about a hidden gem! Maybe i've been living under a rock but I had not heard much talk about this place so we went it with no expectations and were blown away by the end of our meal. Ordered for pickup off of doordash, order was completed quickly. the order was packaged neatly however there was no soy sauce provided. the rice to fish ratio was disappointing, way more rice than I am used to. additionally the salmon did not taste as fresh as other places I have tried, I have had better quality at home (and I am from a land-locked state). the tempura stayed tasting pretty fresh and did not get soggy. would consider trying to dine in, perhaps the food is better in house. read more

From the very first time we walked in, we were greeted by Mica, one of the warmest servers we have ever met. She was incredibly kind, respectful, and welcoming, and her big smile was so contagious that it immediately put us in the mood to enjoy the whole experience. For a moment, it felt like we had traveled back to the Stone Age, eating with our hands and forgetting that utensils had ever been invented. But honestly, that made it even more fun. Came to Otay sushi and crab on two different occasions. Once to eat al a carte the next to try their All You Can Eat Seafood. Their sushi and fish are pretty good quality & one of our favorite things is that happy hour is buy 1 get 1 beer & sake all day lol When we came back to try AYCE seafood we had a few questions about the menu and our server was super patient with all our questions and requests. I genuinely think it's worth the price just because the amount of appetizers that come along with it. There was more than enough food to go around and we didn't even get to 3 rounds of seafood before we got full haha It's a clean restaurant, good service, and in a large plaza. The plaza it's located in can get really busy though because of the TJ Max & Marshals so I would plan accordingly on the weekends. The only reason I put 4 stars instead of 5 is because although the flavoring in the seafood is delicious.. I think they add way too much butter in the mix that it literally drowns out the seasoning. So what we started doing is digging to the bottom of the bag with a spoon, scooping out some of the seasoning from there and adding it to a sauce cup with some salt & pepper. Then we add the butter from there. The flavor is there, it is.. you just have to dig for it lol other than that our experience was great. We'll be coming back often. read more

Came here for the first time on a Thursday for the AYCE seafood boil with friends. We started with lots of sides and then ordered our seafood boil. It was very busy because of the dinner rush, but our main server did a great job explaining the menu, and he was very attentive along with the other servers. I did try to order the fiery Cajun sauce but our server stopped me from making a mistake because he was right, the fiery Cajun was extremely spicy. I ordered food from this place and had a very disappointing experience. When I came in to order, the employee at the front desk was unfriendly and clearly didn't want to help. I asked for a simple change to have the salmon inside the roll instead of on top and she immediately said it would cost extra. When I asked why I was being charged for something I didn't actually add, just requested differently, she rudely replied that it's "the restaurant's policy" and that if I didn't like it, I could go eat somewhere else. That kind of customer service is completely unacceptable. On top of that, the food quality was poor the fish didn't taste fresh, and the rice felt old, like it had been prepared long in advance. The ambience is just right, although I didn't pay that much attention to the decors or theme, I felt comfortable. It's all good! Called ahead to see how long the wait was as we were only 8 min away from our original 45 min starting point. Was told it was 20 min, got there and was told an hour wait. finally was seated (5 ppl) ordered Combo C (dbl clam & dbl shrimp), extra rice, tonkatsu bowl, 2 beers, 2 sodas, and water. Only coke products ok np can I get a Shirley temple? Umm we don't have grenadine, ok lemme get a root beer - we don't have that - ok just water with lemon. It took no joke 45 min for our food to arrive. I was starving!!! I was supposed to get 2lbs of clams I got 2 lbs of clam shells . The sauce if you could call it that was more like oil. Had to flag down the staff several times. Never received corn in our combo or the extra rice we ordered. Staff also didn't know the difference between limes and lemons. Asked for claw cracker utensil thingy and was told we don't have any - BRUH how does a restaurant who serves seafood NOT have the utensils to eat it with. Always love going here. First off, so many food options like bento boxes, sushi, seafood boil, etc. they have all the favorites in one place and all taste delicious! I always come here and get their specialty sushi rolls, specifically the pink roll, lost at lake, and playboy roll. It was Saturday and they had a $5 cucumber salad that was able to feed 2 people! Service is always fast and super sweet regardless who is serving. It tends to for a small line on weekends or peak hours, and the parking tends to get full as well during these times so look out for that. The ambiance is super fun since they always play sports on all the tvs (there are plenty) One of my favorite places to take my friends if they're in town visiting. They had a special for a five dollar spicy tuna roll on Wednesdays, and then we also try to roll that our server recommended with jalapeños. We split a chicken teriyaki bento box too. I especially liked the roll that the server recommended, and the chicken teriyaki, which was super flavorful. Our server was really friendly and helpful. I'd like to go back with a group of friends, as they have a buy one get one sake or draft, beer, deal, and tons of screens to watch games. All the components complemented the other, culminating in a perfect bite Dragon roll - Good flavor, but there were some pieces of eel that was a little crunchy which was unpleasant. Holy jalapeño - lacked the spice we expected. Not bad, but not memorable. Chicken karaage - delicious. Breading was seasoned and the chicken was juicy. Cappuccino macaroon ice cream - ice cream, macaroon and cappuccino. What could be bad about this combination?! Strawberry nigori - drank the entire bottle myself (it wasn't that big, ok). It was sweet and boozy; absolutely delicious. Small hot sake - pretty standard, but the restaurant offered buy one, get one free and we just couldn't pass it up. We paid approximately $127 on our first visit and roughly $240+ for the second visit. We would return despite inconsistencies with the service. read more

Took the family out here on a Friday night, and we were seated pretty quickly but it was crowded. Ambiance is simple tables but I like all the TVs around to watch a game. The buy-one-get-one deal on draft beer is a good deal. The food is excellent, even with a variety of options - our party of five ordered sushi rolls, sashimi, ramen, peeled shrimp and corn in a bag, and ribeye steak. It was ALL delicious, and everyone enjoyed their food. I am very picky about my sashimi, but I really enjoyed the Otay Sashimi combo. I was seated and waiter took awhile to come by to get my order , Aidan-San the waiter apologized then he took my order . Ordered soft shell crab appetizer and honey roll which was good 4 stars on the food , after food was delivered I noticed I didn't have my iced tea . I told another waiter I don't have my drink if he can tell my waiter he said he would and he did not . I started eating my food halfway eating my sushi and my appetizer still no iced tea . The waiter did not check up on me and I had to flag him down to get my iced tea . He apologized but something simple as bringing a drink to a customer is a standard basic service and he did not provide it . He never checked up on me again to see if I needed a refill of my drink or if I need to order dessert or anything else . He never came back . I flagged him down for the bill when I was done eating and then he asked me if I wanted a drink when I asked for the bill . I don't know if today was off or they are busy but this was very poor service read more

Food is ok. The cleanliness is very bad. Sticky floors greasy walls. They need a deep cleaning badly. We use to go there a lot but I have seen a decline on the cleaning of floors, walls, around tables. Benches are also dirty. The tables they put a white paper but forget the rest. read more
