Otay Sushi & Crab, Eastlake Pkwy in Chula Vista, CA
    Olga M.

This was our first time dining at Otay Sushi & Crab on Eastlake Pkwy in Chula Vista, CA. I'm always in search for delicious seafood in town. This restaurant exceeded our expectations and recommend trying the following: Appetizers: *Jalapeño Bomb (favorite) *Gyoza Pork *Soft Shell Crab Dinner: Family Combo A (4 items) $65 *2lbs of shrimp *2lbs of crawfish We ordered medium spice level with garlic butter and drizzled a ton of lemons. Everything we ordered was so delicious!! Otay Sushi & Crab has an All-you-can-eat sushi menu and Lunch Bento Specials. The restaurant has plenty of indoor seating for large groups. We had excellent customer service. Location is next to Nothing Bundt Cakes. We look forward to going back!! Give it a try! Happy Yelping :)

Ordered for pickup off of doordash, order was completed quickly. the order was packaged neatly however there was no soy sauce provided. the rice to fish ratio was disappointing, way more rice than I am used to. additionally the salmon did not taste as fresh as other places I have tried, I have had better quality at home (and I am from a land-locked state). the tempura stayed tasting pretty fresh and did not get soggy. would consider trying to dine in, perhaps the food is better in house.

First off let me talk about our server Aiden... Super stellar customer service, always checking on us making sure that we had whthe best experience. Give this dude a raise!!! Food was good. We went with the AYCE seafood boil. The clams omg so good. Flavor factor spot on. This place is definitely worth the price and to top on the beer specials. Bruh. 10/10 recommend. AYCE is M-TH. So don't bank on coming on a weekend and thinking you're gonna get the good stuff for the great deal. Beer however, everyday. Definitely spacious and enough elbow room for the bunch.

Came to Otay sushi and crab on two different occasions. Once to eat al a carte the next to try their All You Can Eat Seafood. Their sushi and fish are pretty good quality & one of our favorite things is that happy hour is buy 1 get 1 beer & sake all day lol When we came back to try AYCE seafood we had a few questions about the menu and our server was super patient with all our questions and requests. I genuinely think it's worth the price just because the amount of appetizers that come along with it. There was more than enough food to go around and we didn't even get to 3 rounds of seafood before we got full haha It's a clean restaurant, good service, and in a large plaza. The plaza it's located in can get really busy though because of the TJ Max & Marshals so I would plan accordingly on the weekends. The only reason I put 4 stars instead of 5 is because although the flavoring in the seafood is delicious.. I think they add way too much butter in the mix that it literally drowns out the seasoning. So what we started doing is digging to the bottom of the bag with a spoon, scooping out some of the seasoning from there and adding it to a sauce cup with some salt & pepper. Then we add the butter from there. The flavor is there, it is.. you just have to dig for it lol other than that our experience was great. We'll be coming back often.

My husband and I stopped by while we waited for our kids and it was delicious! We tried the teriyaki chicken plate and the beef bulgogi. The miso soup was hot and flavorful. Both chicken and beef were seasoned so well and juicy! The ginger salad dressing was also very tasty. The service was excellent as we were seated immediately on a Saturday afternoon. We will definitely be back!

Crab is super tasty , easy to eat (yes, they have all tools needed)... we chose not to do the all you can eat because the rules are too hard to follow. But the food we got was delicious. I got 1 pound crab, rice, and sausages && Cajun fries. Everything was super tasty. Other people got sushi rolls, calamari && everyone was happy!!! Great food here no complaints.

Came here for the first time on a Thursday for the AYCE seafood boil with friends. We started with lots of sides and then ordered our seafood boil. It was very busy because of the dinner rush, but our main server did a great job explaining the menu, and he was very attentive along with the other servers. I did try to order the fiery Cajun sauce but our server stopped me from making a mistake because he was right, the fiery Cajun was extremely spicy. So, instead I got the fiery sauce on the side to dip, and I used the sauce from my previous boil.

I ordered food from this place and had a very disappointing experience. When I came in to order, the employee at the front desk was unfriendly and clearly didn't want to help. I asked for a simple change to have the salmon inside the roll instead of on top and she immediately said it would cost extra. When I asked why I was being charged for something I didn't actually add, just requested differently, she rudely replied that it's "the restaurant's policy" and that if I didn't like it, I could go eat somewhere else. That kind of customer service is completely unacceptable. On top of that, the food quality was poor the fish didn't taste fresh, and the rice felt old, like it had been prepared long in advance. Overall, a very unpleasant experience. Definitely not recommended.

Went to try this place since it was close to where we had to go. They had just opened and I'm glad we came when we did because this place filled with people right after! The menu has so many options it was like a kid in a candy store! The food was amazing and wasn't costly. Our server kept checking on us which I liked. I can see this place being loud when it's packed with people. Good for a hangout with the guys during game days. Definitely would like to come back here and try other things on the menu

We had Beef Wagyu Plate Pork Katsu Plate Tonkotsu Ramen Sushi Rolls Combo Crab Legs with added shrimp Great food and great service. Beef and pork were tender. Sushi rolls were fresh without any fishy aroma. The crab boil was really good with plenty of sauce. Service was amazing. We'll be back. This is a very busy complex on weekends. Not only is parking a challenge, there can be a backlog of traffic coming in and out. Very few disabled spots.

First time in this place. Staff greeted us and said we can seat anywhere we want. Our waiter is nice and very efficient. Our food is good too!!! We had the calamari, shishito peppers and edamame for appetizers. We also had the salad and miso soup that came with Sushi boat special. The sushi boat was really pretty with colorful sushi and sashimi on it. The sushi chef actually brought out the boat to our table. The sushi and sashimi tasted fresh! The ambience is just right, although I didn't pay that much attention to the decors or theme, I felt comfortable. It's all good! I'm definitely going back here with my friends and try the seafood boil. The location of this resto is also good! It is right next to the stores I go almost every week!

As a fellow sushi lover, this place was mid. We waited for our food for like over 30 minutes. Waiter was nice but service was slow. The idea of the Chula Vista combo is great but the quality fell short. The rice had a weird flavor, fish was okay. The halibut carpaccio was embarrassing and $20. The pieces were so small.... One was not even a full piece. Overall, I wouldn't come again. We paid close to $100 for mid tasting sushi.

We came here on a rainy afternoon. We thought it was a great option since they had a variety of items on the menu including ramen. However the ramen was ok. I got the chicken katsu. That dish was amazing! The portion was huge and we had leftovers. The salad dressing was so good, I asked for more. We loved how crunchy the chicken was. Our servers were super nice and our food came out quick. The ambiance felt like a sports bar that served Asian food haha. I'd love to come back to try the sushi rolls and seafood boils!

Pulled into the strip mall area and parking was plentiful. We were a party of 5 and thankfully we only had to wait 5 min as the restaurant was pretty full. For appetizers we ordered Ckn karaage and calamari. Both dishes came with a sweet and sour sauce and an aioli which I think was sriracha and mayo. Both were perfectly fried and both matched great with both sauces. That was a very good start. I ordered a Hamachi Carpacio. The presentation looked very nice and I had our guest try one. When he put it in his mouth he coughed a little because it had a little spicy kick. I then devoured the rest and yes on the palate it had a slight kick but my glistening head told another story. All the delicious flavors were present. For the rest of the table we had numerous rolls: rainbow roll, King roll, dynamite roll, lemon cilantro roll, and bomb roll. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't have high expectations for sushi here in east Chula Vista but Ika changed my mind real quick. Each roll was Delicious with a capital D. I thoroughly enjoyed everything that I ate and Ika. My wife and I for sure will return to try their other food. Great job!

The chef did look very professional and looked good. We ordered Okayama special for two and Japanese spring rolls and the total came to $87.87. The Japanese egg rolls for appetizers were extra light and crispy not to mention they were piping hot! It came with its own sauce but I highly recommend dipping it in the steak sauce too. It reminds me of creamy ranch but it's not a ranch. We ordered the Okayama special which has steak in medium rare, chicken and shrimp. We also upgraded to fried rice. Everything tasted great! I had a lot of leftovers. The owner is one of the chefs cooking for everyone. I was shocked the resturant is run by two excellent teppan chefs. They are very hard working. Don't forget to tip the teppan chef as they deserve it! There was plenty of parking outside and food came fast. Definitely give this place a try if you are in the area.

The chirashi bowl ($18.50) was the smallest portion I've received compared to other sushi restaurants, and it didn't feel like a good value.
