OMG! If ya'll wanna get some 'real' Mexican seafood...Hector's is the biz! Nothing can compare to this restaurant. My kids and I have been going there for over 5 years now, and I still have not find restaurant that can even come close. And it's not actually just seafood. There's your regular carne asadas y tacos, gigantic cheese quesadillas and chips w/ the best salsa ever! But I don't go there for the 'normal' stuff..I go for the combinations like Fillete de Popeye....So good! I also love the shrimp cocktail and so does my Jake. The fish soup is out of this world and my kids prefer the 'Siete Mares'..I would love to eat that soup also, but it has squid and I'm allergic to squid :-( The fish ceviche is so good...Even my mom and step dad was completely shocked the very first time they went there. They said, they've never had anything like the quality and taste of food there. Mexican dining was never gonna be the same for them again! If you have the chance, go check it out! This place always has great service, even when they are busy someone will approach you and let you know that you were noticed. I always get seated and served quickly. I always choose the fish ceviche tostada on the side. They have really good shrimp and octopus cocktail. Sometimes I order the "pescado relleno". that is delicious! read more

My husband and I stopped here for a simple lunch. Do not be fooled by the outside. The food here was absolutely perfect. Beautiful plating with the best Mexican/seafood I've ever had. Our waiter Luis was very attentive and was very quick to refill our nachos and salsa, which was also bomb! Everything here was great! Make sure to make a stop here if you're ever in Chula Vista. I've been to Mariscos Hectors at their two locations, both are exellent! But this last visit to the one in chula vista was more than what I really expected. The food was definitely supirior in flavor compared to any seafood restaurant I've ever been to. They welcome you with chips and salsa that taste 100% Mexican. And the service was outstanding, having in mind the size and type of the restaurant, you would never expect to get a waiter service that good in a place that looks like a taco shop. It was my b-day, and we had a great time. The waitresses brought me a slice of "flan" with a candle, the whole restaurant looked and claped as they were singing "feliz cumpleanos..." or something like that. Thanx by the way! It's a nice family place, but I would go with my friends and have some more of those tasty micheladas while watching a game or just to talk and have something to eat. The service is good, the ambience is pretty suave. Me personally I used to like soda alot so I would prefer restaurants with soda fountains but since I've begun limiting my consumption of soda, this place is a major plus! The food is great! I recommend trying the "ceviche de tamarindo" it is really good, a bit spicy but once you start eating it you cant stop until you're out. Plus Taco Tuesdays for fish tocas which are really good. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place today, and let me just say if I could give it 0 stars I would. We both ordered a strawberry margarita on the rocks and it tasted like they poured an entire bottle of strawberry syrup in it and no alcohol. We asked our server if we could return it and try a different one, since we did not like it. He brought us a lime margarita on the rocks and we still didn't taste any alcohol so we asked for an extra shot of tequila on the side. THAT is when our server informed us that they don't have "actual tequila" here because they don't have a liquor license. I don't get why they didn't say anything before hand? We then got our food, and I ordered the chicken enchiladas. The chicken had no flavor and looked like it was a rotisserie chicken they bought at the market. The cheese was overloaded and wasn't even melted. We ended up sending everything back. Don't come here. read more

So I had been reading the reviews and heard from locals about this place so I ordered a campechana and tacos and my co-worker ordered chicharon calamari and both meals where not edible. The calamari was soggy and my campechana had no flavor the tacos in the other hand where over seasoned. Not going here again. read more

Despite all of the negative reviews, I had a wonderful expeience the first & second time around. Believe it or not, had it not been for the excellent service, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed myself as much. I was lucky to have had a very nice waitress who was extremely polite, patient, and helpful. I hardly ever need assistance when I go out to eat but everything looked so promising that I just wanted an opinion from the inside. LOL. So, I ordered a carne asada burrito de culichi. Hector's Mariscos is an amazing find. All of the seafood is so fresh and delicious. On Wednesday they have $7 appetizers and buy one beer or margarita get one for 99 cents. This was our first time to go to Hector's and we are SO glad we did!!! Run, don't walk, to eat at Pescados y Mariscos Hector's! The food is truly and absolutely outstanding!!! She had grilled fish and I had chipotle shrimp, with a test fish taco on the side we split. Simply TERRIFIC food, all of it; and the service was very, very good too. Soon after we ate, lots of customers were filling the place fast and the waitress was getting a little overwhelmed just by the numbers of people, but she was still nice and the food sensational. I enjoyed my overall stay here with my mother we both had the fish soup also called sopa de pescado.. Following there flour tortillas . Very soft and heated at the rite temperature . My husband and I were heading to a concert at Cricket Wireless and wanted to find good Mexican food in Chula Vista. Hector's was awesome! We shared ceviche and each had a taco. I ordered the marlin taco and it was so yummy. When we were their they had a soccer game on the flat screen and a local soccer team came in to eat and watch the game. I really like this place! I came with my girlfriend to eat some Mariscos awhile ago and I'm glad we did. The food was great. Fresh chips and salsa. We had the shrimp ceviche plate and split it between us... plenty of food. Ordered some Margaritas on the Rocks and simply enjoyed. After my drink, I decided on a beer and I got to enjoy it in a frosty mug. Chips were always full. Fresh beer and mug after I finished. We watched the football playoffs on the television screens and simply relaxed. Very attentive waitress. I loved their service. My dad has been coming here for one thing and one thing only: Salmon Ceviche. I must say this plate was delicious and definitely worth the price. We shared a large platter of it and it was fulfilling. I would like to give this place 4 stars but 4 is pushing it for me. The decor is nice, the food was good, that's it. The customer service wasn't that great. You'd figure that if you ask for more salsa they'd also give you more chips. I guess I'm supposed to eat the salsa with my fingers. I wasn't done with my drink and when I reached for it it was gone. The chiles torreados were expensive but I guess they don't believe in small servings of that. They weren't even spicy and completely over cooked. I'll come back for the salmon ceviche. It's too good to ignore. I'll put up with the bad service. read more

Stay away from the clam, ordered one clam appetizer today and was given a clam-lemon-veggie mix. the waitress said the cook had accidentally trown the shells away. The clam tasted rubbery and the lemon tasted has if it had been made the day prior. I asked the waitress about it and she said it was made fresh upon ordering. I asked her for raw clam on the shell without the mix. she comes back saying they do not have any clam. conclusion, no fresh clam, bad for seafood bussiness. Gave it two stars for poor honesty and not having fresh common ingredients. Tacos are good, I will sitck to the non-fancy plates. read more

It was good, not great. The service was bad, it wasn't even that busy. The water tasted gross ...fishy even. The food was really tasty which made the experience a decent one. The salsa was amazing, and the ceviche was good. I ordered a grilled mix seafood platter to share. It was really good and seasoned well. The server forgot to bring the tortillas and when she did she brought corn instead of flour. I really love this place I'm sure they can do better with service but the food here is amazing, i recommend the salmon ceviche is big enough for 2 people the mango and cucumber + avocado mix with a spicy soy sauce is so delicious.
