New sushi spot near my friend's house and we had to try it! Overall experience was great! Not too crowded and the staff was super nice! Quality of the fish was good and the menu is pretty expansive + they have specials like the King Dragon (like a dragon roll but they use a whole unagi on top!). Note: the spicy garlic edamame was delicious but might be too garlicky for some (but not for me so I hope they keep as is!). Overall I'd say it's a solid sushi option! Stay Cheerful ;) read more

Really great food for the price, however, if you're looking for a 'legit' sushi place, it's probably not this. Their food seems to be more 'fusion' or adapted for local taste. I have now explored & supported at least two winners here from my week of Japanese restaurant ventures around the 'City of Arcadia,' but this time from the 'City of Duarte'! I Yelped my way to Heemo Sushi in the 'City of Duarte,' yesterday on my lunch break because I have been trying 1 different Japanese restaurant per day this week. I happened to find out they also sold Lunch Special Bento Boxes! When I learned they offered Lunch Specials from using Yelp before heading out, I was stoked because I knew they would offer large portions enough for two meals again. Lo and behold, 'Tis was the case! Here's been a list of my daily routines for lunch breaks~ 1). Look up desired dishes from Menu pics off Yelp. 2). Call the restaurant from work's break room. 3). Ask the restaurant how long the order was going to take to make. 4). Arrive at restaurant promptly to pick up order. 5). Pick up and pay. 6). Done! And Enjoy! 7). Don't forget to Yelp while in the restaurant! Those have been my daily routines during lunch breaks via all the vicinities around Arcadia, CA. Heemi Sushi, Duarte, CA did not disappoint. Not only were each of their Bento Boxes humongous, they were both extremely delish. I ordered a dish of Beef Teriyaki Rice and Salmon Teriyaki Rice. Both Bento Boxes came with 4 pieces of California rolls, a side salad and a side soup. One was priced at $20 (the salmon dish) and the other was priced at $19 (the beef dish.). I took out an extra Bento Box for our family's dinner. I'll have to return again for other lunch specials! Will you be coming?! Cuz I know I will! read more

This is my favorite sushi spot of them all. As someone who has gone to the best sushi places in Los Angeles, this place beats them all. I have NEVER had a bad piece of sushi from here, it is always fresh and the ambiance is always fun and uplifting! Jason was our server and we asked if they could make a custom roll for us, so they named it after my lady lol "the viva roll" haha. We came back two days in a row and on the second day they brought the rolls out in the shape of a heart and on a special wood plate that spins on a platform!! It was crazy and both times the chef sent out special off the menu rolls on the house. You just can't beat this place!!! read more

My husband and I came here today & are beyond impressed!! The staff is super friendly, attentive, and seems genuinely happy to be there. We sat down & the waiter immediately grabbed us drinks, plates, wasabi/ginger, and asked if we had any questions. We ordered a few sushi rolls, nigiri, and seaweed salad. They immediately brought us out 2 pieces of Toro sushi! On the house! From those first 2 bites we knew we had come to the right place! New sushi spot in Duarte! I went in hear for lunch with my family not having any expectation of "good" sushi in the area since Duarte isn't really generally known for good Asian food, in this case, Japanese.. This place caught me by surprise. The raw fish rolls/sashimi were generously served and were simple (which is how I want classic rolls to be). It's not overly done that it changes the taste/idea of a classic roll, and it's not too fishy that you feel like "gagging" after a few bites. It was close to perfect. On the other hand their cooked/fried/specialty rolls, in my case Caterpillar roll (and I couldn't recall what the other one I ordered-- maybe Canadian), were just average. Portions were generous, but it was just average. Anyways, I gave it a 4 star review because my overall experience was good. I already recommended this restaurant to my family and they loved it as well (they went the same day that I went). I would totally go back if I end up craving sushi and happen to be within the area. read more

We split the Brussels sprouts and California rolls. The sashimi was beautifully presented, fresh and delicious. The udon is a generous portion enough for two, and the roll was described perfectly spicy and filled with tuna. The Brussel sprouts are crispy and tossed with grilled onions a f drizzled with a creamy sauce....so yummy. Overall the food was delicious, good service and nice location. Very pleasant experience! Came with Two co-workers during lunch on a Wednesday. The parking lot was roomy and located alongside other establishments. When we walked in we were promptly greeted and escorted to our seats. The staff was very friendly, attentive, all smiles and even explained what the dishes came with even without asking before hand! The food was ready and came out in less than 5 minutes after we ordered. I had the Chirashi bowl as I'm going low carb/no carb for my diet and what a delight the food was ~ They offered free hot tea, and the meal came with complimentary miso soup (piping hot!)
