    Soy sauce ice cream! 10/10
    Ariel C.

Amazing sushi, Nigiri, miso black cod, and dessert! I got the nigiri assortment. Ten pieces total, with tamago and a cut roll. Absokutelt amazing quality fish, flavors, and rice. Super recommend. Husband got the sashimi, with 4 types of fish. Stunning to look at, a symphony on the palate. In addition, we also got the hirame and scallop nigiri, because I love scallops. The miso black cod was divine! And honestly, one of my favorite food items of the year... soy sauce ice cream. Legit, amaze. Its one of those things that leaves a lasting impression. I highly recommend trying. Sake selection was also astounding. Got a sparkling sake to share and then this amazing sweet rose glass that I would have happily ordered the full bottle for. 1000% recommend this sushi spot for lunch or dinner. Great drinks. Amazing service, shouts out to our server btw, cool guy! Way better than Mikomi across the street.

    Oysters were a bit fishy

On a mission to try all the sushi spots in downtown Monrovia! This time: Sushi Filet, toward the end of the strip. Heads up, it's more pricey than the other spots we've tried, but the quality is there. The restaurant was clean and the service was attentive throughout. We started with the miso cod lettuce wraps, perfectly cooked and seasoned, then the karaage, tender and crispy on the outside. The sashimi platter was fresh and delicious across the board. Only miss was the oysters. They looked great but tasted fishy, so skipping those next time. Dessert was great We had the bread pudding with soy sauce ice cream, and surprisingly the ice cream had a caramel profile.

This place has amazing Japanese food. I learned the fish comes from the Japanese market and they rotate special fish weekly. The sashimi is fresh and unique. The toro with cheese was something new I never tried before. I love the chawanmushi. It is silky and soft. The monkfish liver is so creamy. They have unique sushi too. The service was nice. The ambience is upscale. An amazing time ! Now they have happy hour too.

Absolutely outstanding from start to finish! The sushi was incredibly fresh, creative, and beautifully presented--every bite was full of flavor. Stephanie was warm, attentive, and truly exceptional. To top it all off, the soy ice cream with bread pudding was the perfect dessert and a must-try. A fantastic dining experience that I'll definitely be coming back for! By the way, the music in the background created the ambience.

Found this place through DineLA, the food was amazing!! We did the classic omakase with 6 courses, we were so full! Every dish was unique & beautifully presented. So much flavor bursting in my mouth. The sushi was good quality, fresh and melts in your mouth. Each fish tasted different but equally delicious. They used different sauces, some were torched and you can taste the slight smoked flavor. They had excellent service, always refilled my water, great timing in bringing out the food & they patiently explained what each dish was. They were accommodating to gluten free and provide tamari (gf soy sauce). The place was small but spacious, didn't feel cramped & nicely decorated. They have a great dineLA menu & happy hour Tues-Fri 5-6:30p or Sat-Sun 12-3p. It is more pricey but the quality and service make up for it. It's located in downtown Monrovia on Myrtle with plenty of free street parking. There's a street fair every Fri night and they close Myrtle for pedestrians only. Overall we had a wonderful experience and we will definitely return!

Ok the food here is very fresh !! I've cane here before but I think it was named something else. Anyways, the sushi was so fresh and good! I ordered the salmon nigiri, miso soup, and shared the salmon truffle rolls that were beyonddd delicious! Good miso soup and fresh salmon nigiri that was very good!! Yummy !! The service was also very good!! It took awhile to come to our table, but once they did they were very attentive and good personalities!! The ambiance was perfect as well. Very modern and cute!! Located in downtown Monrovia so it's good vibes for sure!! I will definitely come Back here ! Very good menu! A lot to choose from. -Marshay D.

Found this spot during Dine LA and really enjoyed it! I think they've been open for almost 2 years and honestly the food was so good. The sushi chef is Thai and you can tell they really put a lot of thought into every dish. We got to try a little bit of everything and everything was yummy. My favorite was definitely the miso cod lettuce wrap -- so good!! The sushi was also very fresh and definitely high-end sushi quality. Our server was super friendly, service was good, and the vibe was chill and relaxing. Overall, really happy we found this place. If you're reading this and thinking about trying it, GO! Definitely worth a try!

The spread, the skewers were just as good as the sushi. Thumbs up

I concur- everything from the product to the service to the bartending is top notch. It's an upgrade from your chain sushi joints like mikomi down the street so there is a premium, expect to average about $40 a person, but there are rolls here too if you wanna stay budget friendly. Had a wonderful time here, great place for a date night since the area is so walkable. 5 stars

My friend and I ate here for DineLa and WOW. I came here expecting good quality fish, but Fillet was so much more. The menu is very creative and the fish very fresh. Nothing is premade, all made from scratch. The tuna nigiri with Parmesan was incredible, so much so that we ordered an extra portion. The desserts (miso panna cotta and croissant pudding with soy sauce ice cream) were perfect. Stephanie was our server and she was lovely too.

We had an amazing meal at Fillet Sushi with our family. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and had a simplistic, natural feel to it. We started with the crispy okra, toro nori tacos and black cod butter lettuce wrap. The flavors were perfectly balanced and unique. We have never had fried okra before but it was light and crispy. We then had the sashimi dishes - the pecorino truffle toro was amazing and melted in your mouth. I would have never imagined that cheese would pair so well with sashimi. It's the best bite I have had in a while. The tosazu crispy onion, ceviche, sea bream ships ponzu and scallop carpaccios were some of my favorite as well but honestly they were all delicious! You can taste the fresh quality of the seafood brought from Japan and the care the chef puts into each dish. The flavors and textures of the toppings are unique and pair so well together. The grilled skewers had nice charred flavor - my favorite was the Wagyu. And you have to get the soy sauce ice cream with croissant pudding - savory and sweet with flaky and buttery bread pudding. The shochu cocktails were refreshing and paired well with the meal. Definitely a memorable meal - come try them out!

I love this place! It's good for a date night. The food was really good and innovative. They make their sauce homemade and the fish are high quality. This restaurant focus on fresh, premium sushi with unique combo flavors and authenticity. I am not a fan of veggies and they made the arugula salad and okra crispy and it made it more enjoyable and very tasty. The tori nori taco was super delicious as well. My favorite is the fillet sashimi sampler, everything tastes sooo soo good with unique flavors. The honey toast It's my first time trying soy sauce ice cream and it did not disappoint. The bread pudding was delicious and the whole combo dessert was not too sweet just like what I wanted. The service is amazing! I met LIN! she was very attentive and the chefs are very nice, talented and explained everything in detailed. I would definitely comeback here and recommend this place to my friends.

    DineLA signature omakase
    Rosanna L.

Came to try their signature omakase from the DineLA menu. We made reservations for the bar and was seated immediately. Items included the following: 1. 4 item Appetizer - octopus & conch, monkfish liver, Kunomoto oyster (sweet but too much vinegar) tempura salad (loved it) &halibut 2. Premium sashimi: Scallop, chutoro with truffle shavings (one of my favorites), King mackerel (need more flavor) 3. Snow crab chuwanmushi - had an interesting rice wine flavor 4. Red snapper with lemon & salt... The rice was too warm. Overtook the fish flavor 5. Bluefin tuna 6. Seared Red snapper 7. Yellowtail 8. Seared sea perch 9. Hokkaido uni (so sweet) 10. Seared Otoro (melt in my mouth) 11. Grilled wagyu with truffle butter (I learned that I like truffle butter) 12. Croissant pudding with soy sauce ice cream.... Salty and lightly sweet Overall I enjoyed the meal. Pricing was good. Service was good. They filled our waters and took our empty plates. My finance got the sake pairing. We did have to wait a while for the sake. Inside was nice and clean. We went on a Friday night so the streets were closed for the weekly Farmers market. We parked at the nearby public parking.

    Sea bream - Tai Nigiri
    Daphne D.

Made reservations and came during DineLA. We were seated right away. Chose the signature omakase, service was attentive - frequently refilled our water. We parked in a nearby lot that offered 3 hours of free parking, which was very convenient. Casual atmosphere. 4 seasonal appetizers: Arugula tempura with vinegar dressing, refreshing with great crunch (personal favorite) Monkfish liver was smooth and rich, nicely balanced by crunchy seaweed Oyster Clam and octopus ceviche had a bright citrus note Sashimi: Scallop with cucumber was soft and refreshing Chutoro with pecorino cheese and radish was an interesting, savory combination Mackerel was smoky and deeply flavorful Snow crab chawanmushi tasted like the sea Premium Nigiri: Sea bream with shiso, salt, and wasabi Seared kinmedai with soy glaze Shima aji with yuzu kosho and ponzu Akami with soy and salt Seared akamutsu Uni from Hokkaido was creamy and fresh (personal favorite) Seared otoro The grilled wagyu with truffle butter was cooked perfectly, aromatic and savory. Miso soup with mushrooms rounded out the savory courses nicely. Dessert was a croissant pudding with soy sauce ice cream, a unique and satisfying finish.

First off, the takoyaki octopus balls were full of flavor. I feel that this place does them really well. You don't feel overwhelmed by any seafood tastes and instead, you get well balanced flavor throughout every bite with the combination of the ball itself, the sauces and the flakes on top. Next is the omurice. The egg is cooked to perfection and tastes absolutely amazing. The curry, however, which was recommended by the waiter over the Demi glaze, tasted exactly like the Vermont curry cube you get in the grocery store, so I'm not sure why he recommended that over the Demi glaze. The fried rice within the omurice was alright too. Originally, I wanted to get the tonkatsu omurice but got it on the side as the choice wasn't available for the lunch menu. I would suggest doing without the tonkatsu because it was dry and there's a million and one places that can do tonkatsu better than this place. Honestly, I wish I had the opportunity to cut the omurice myself and choose how much curry I put on it, but the staff did that instead, which I guess made for a good video, but took away from my innate desires to cut the egg on my own haha. Next, the ramen tasted pretty basic like what you could get at any ramen shop. For the chicken wings, I've never had chicken wings in this flavor. They were really really good and I would definitely recommend the wings. For the desserts, I enjoyed both the matcha and the snow globe. I'm not sure what I enjoyed more, however. The snow globe is a gelatin and it doesn't really have too much flavor until you get to the parts with the flower. Plus the little clear balls have a nice flavor and texture. For the matcha, it has an interesting texture and then an interestingly light, yet deep matcha flavor. Oh the drinks. The Thai tea tastes exactly like how it does everywhere else. The amazing lemonade is a lemonade with a few slight modifications, like with cucumber and maybe some other things as well. For the service, it's pretty good here. Everyone is pretty attentive. There are three things at the table, such as cayenne pepper and two other bowls you can add to your dishes to add flavor. I forgot the name of the one I liked but it looked kind of like pork floss or loose tea, and that one had a lot of flavor. I think what's most appealing about this place is the ambiance because you can like sit in a honeycomb, there's fancy designs everywhere and you feel like you're in a different place. I think it's a good restaurant but it's kind of weird how some things here are amazing and some are just okay.

The restaurant has different chili powders on each table, which I really appreciated since I love spicy food. I do think the broth was quite salty, but maybe that's just how ramen is. Parking is kind of limited, however, so I recommend avoiding peak dinner/lunch hours. Servers were very kind and efficient.

Restaurant is located in a small strip mall, with a fair amount of parking. There isn't a flashy restaurant sign in front of the building, and once you step in, it truly feels like you are in a small, homey Izikaya in Japan. The restaurant only has a few booths, a few tables and bar seating inside, so reservations are highly recommended on a busy Saturday night. My boyfriend and I got lucky that they were able to accommodate us within 10 minutes, because there was seating available at the bar. There is a physical Drink menu (sake, beer, etc.) and the food menu can be viewed by scanning a QR code with your phone. The waitress made suggestions about which dishes she personally liked & we ordered whatever she suggested, along with some of the things we thought looked good. *7/10 Toro w/ seaweed *8/10 Moriwase (chef's selection of sashimi) 2 each of 5 different sashimi. There was one cut I did not particularly care for. *7/10 chicken wings *10/10 Beef tongue-- Tender, but firm. Delicious, a must try! *10/10 Ankimo-- creamy and paired well with the ponzu and fresh seaweed *10/10 Fried Seabass-- they served the entire fish, which is rare. *10/10 Sous-vide Duck breast-- must try! *10/10 Nikomi stew--simple, but delicious! *10/10 Matcha Oolong Panna Cotta-- subtly sweet with a smooth texture. It was so good, that we ordered two! The only reason that I only gave it a four out of five stars is because the service was slow. All of our dishes, came out in time, but no drink refills were given and the server never came back to collect our check for payment. So we had to walk it up to them ourselves. For a small space, with three servers, it shouldn't be hard to attend to all the customers. The menu can be pricey, but food is delicious! Along with exceptional service, eating here is worth it.

We were finally seated close to 9:30, and they apologized again with complimentary liver pâté, a cucumber chicken salad, and drinks on the house. That level of hospitality, on a slammed Friday night, says a lot about how this place treats its guests. The food matched the service -- genuinely great. Do yourself a favor and book ahead, but even the wait is worth it.

This authentic Japanese yakitori omakase restaurant had a very cool, intimate atmosphere. Everyone…read moreworking there spoke Japanese, which made the experience feel reassuring and genuine. I had a lot of fun talking with the staff and learned many interesting things about Japan during the meal. The restaurant was extremely clean, quiet, and comfortable. I sat at the counter, where I had a clear view of the chefs carefully grilling and preparing each skewer right in front of me. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. I did not expect to eat chicken heart and liver, but trying them was a fun experience, and they were much more approachable than I expected. The entire menu focused on different parts of the chicken, with no other meats served, so this is definitely the place for anyone who loves chicken and wants to experience traditional yakitori. The set omakase menu included more than enough food, and I left feeling completely satisfied. A unique, enjoyable experience with excellent food and a peaceful Japanese atmosphere.

Ok I've been to a lot of ramen places but I gotta say I don't think anything beats Nagi. First of…read moreall, they cater to all types of food eaters by enabling you to have full control of oil, noodle, thickness, salt, etc. Essentially, you are building your own perfect ramen bowl that meets your own standards. The best part of all, I think this might be the first ramen restaurant that is doing this so that's a plus in my book. Some other ramen places, albeit good and rich, may sometimes be too heavy for some people like me. That's where Ramen Nagi differs. They have the ability to cut down that "heavy after eating" feeling. Service was extremely on point and will come to you if you need help with anything without hesitation. It's a family friendly environment and has good lighting for those instagram photos which makes the food even more appealing to eat. I definitely recommend 1000000% if you have never eaten ramen this is like THE PERFECT place to go.

But when a friend invited me to lunch here yesterday, I happily obliged. Ramen is cheap, what's not cheap are the piles of add-ons that cost extra: eggs, charsiu, scallion, corn, etc. etc. Pretty ridiculous really (another reason I make it at home and add my own seafood, vegs, shrooms, etc. etc.) Two ramen + chicken karaage = $50 The food is 5 stars, but value maybe 3 at most, averaging 4 stars total. At least the black pepper bean sprouts in a red jar is free. Located right next to Macy*s entrance by the 99 Ranch Market parking garage. Lines may be long but move fast.
