We all opted for the lunch special, which came with a premium type of California roll (with different fish toppings) with a name of either rainbow roll, red dragon, or ninja roll. It also came with four different nigiri rolls. The portions were huge, with thicker cuts for fish and generous fillings for the rolls. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. The waitress/hostess was incredibly friendly as we walked in and got sat right away. The restaurant is cozy and clean. They have a large variety of sushi but we decided order the Kami Kaze, spicy rainbow and the King Dragon Roll. They served the dragon roll first and we were surprised by how big the portions are. The crispy fired onions were amazing on top of the Kami kaze roll. My favorite was the spicy rainbow, it allowed me to taste how fresh their salmon, albacore, shrimp and tuna was. I felt the need to write this review because of Heemo Sushi's attention to the little details! With our party of six, they thoughtfully reminded us that gratuity was already included--unlike some places that leave you double-tipping without noticing, which can leave a bad impression. We only ordered one kids' meal, but they noticed we had two kids and generously gave us two juice boxes, which was a really nice touch. The place was quite full on a Thursday night, and there was just one server plus another person who I think was the owner. Service was understandably a bit delayed, but they made sure we had everything we needed, which seems to be the norm in SGV nowadays. I brought my cousins here, and they loved it! Hidden in a large strip mall, shouldered between a dollar tree and subway, you wouldn't think to find quite possibly my new favorite sushi spot! The restaurant itself is beautiful and spacious, and I appreciate how clean it is! They do have a sushi bar as well and an alcohol menu. Now to the good stuff, their menu is quite extensive with a variety of rolls and appetizers and a few entrees. We absolutely adored everything we ordered. And we were pleasantly surprised how stuffed their rolls are, so generous. Here are some of the highlights: - mixed tempura: lightly battered and addictive! I like their different variety in the their combination, instead of just plain fried vegetables, there tempura comes with fried egg roll, dumpling, shrimp, pumpkin, onion and yam. Fresh oysters: 5pc, large, fresh, and super juicy! -kamikaze roll: refreshing roll with a kick from the spicy cali filling, but balanced well with the mango. Love the addition of crispy fried onions, makes the perfect bite. Poke roll: California roll topped with marinated tuna, salmon, and albacore. Again they are so generous with their toppings, you could just get this one roll and probably be full. Popcorn scallop roll: (4pc) I love anything scallop, but omg their fried scallops are the perfect little bite!! (Great option for someone who doesn't prefer raw fish) I would also love to give a shout out to the beautiful staff, everyone was so kind and attentive. The best service you'll find. When we finished any plate, someone would swiftly clear the plate or remove any clutter on our table. They even came over and gave us a baked salmon collar on the house. The sweetest!! We ordered the Udon Combo with came with California roll (pr spicy tuna) + 4 pc mixed tempura, ramen and volcano rolls. The soup for the udon was slightly watered down, the ramen was good but it is instant noodle (and I'm here for it lol) so for those that are looking for actual ramen, don't do it. The volcano roll was good but we've had better. Overall, it did the job and we were full. Would this be something we crave for? Not really. Just an FYI, it's not an AYCE sushi spot. Not sure if their OC location changed into a non AYCE spot too, but after hearing that Heemo opened another restaurant near me, I was glad to finally be able to sit down and enjoy their sushi after so long. We came at an awkward time in between lunch and dinner on a weekend and aside from another table, there was no one else in the restaurant. Service was super attentive and friendly. Our empty plates were cleared quickly, our water's were always filled, and even when we asked for to-go, our server packaged our food for us! Good stuff! Since it's not AYCE, we were happy to be able to take our food with us to finish later on. They give you a good amount and the rolls are quite big. We got the: 1) Ankimo Sushi: -This is on their premium sushi list and it comes with 2 pieces. -Dense, rich taste. Great to try for those who haven't. 2) Omega Roll: -Inside the roll, it's spicy tuna, eel, and jalapeno and outside it's albacore and tempura onion. -Our table's favorite. Not super spicy, but had a nice enough kick and loved that there's lots of protein in this. The tempura onion had a flavorful, yummy crunch added to the roll. -Would get this again! 3) Corn Cheese Roll: -Inside the roll, it's crab and avocado and outside it's corn and gooey mozzarella cheese. -It's just a standard roll with the corn cheese on top, it's more of a novelty thing. Unless you're a fan of corn cheese, I'd skip this. 4) Spider Roll: -The roll is crab, avocado, soft shell crab, gobo, and tempura bits on top. -Standard spider roll, okay sized amount of soft shell crab. 5) Oysters: -Fresh, decently sized oysters with lemon wedges on a bed of ice. -Not bad. 6) Nigiri: -Great fish to rice ratio. Rice was cooked and shaped perfectly, nothing fell apart. -We got salmon, eel, mon (seared with lemon pepper), nana (seared with Cajun pepper), core (seared with garlic pepper), and seared salmon, yellowtail, and tuna. -Great quality fish, the seasoned slices were nicely balanced. Salmon was buttery and fatty. Loved it. Solid place to get non-AYCE sushi, especially with all of the options that they have. read more

My new fav sushi spot - new Duarte gem unlocked! I walked over after a gym sesh at Planet Fitness for some sushi fuel - Heemo is located in a plaza with plenty of parking. Their menu is huge and includes sushi rolls with no rice (shouts to our keto girlies) as well as nigiri with 3 options for the amount of rice included. Never seen that before, but very into it. What I ordered: - Sunset Roll: No rice & FAT slabs of salmon - everything I need in this life. I'm 100% coming back for this roll again. - Spicy Rainbow Roll: Tasty little roll with avocado, several types of fish and a little spice. The staff was so incredibly nice and checked in often and the ambiance was fun, family friendly and full of good vibes. We dined at Heemo Sushi a few weeks ago when they just opened. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and spacious. We got the following: Ramen - 3/5 It wasn't anything special. The mild was very spicy, so our toddler didn't like it. I don't think we would have ordered it again because of the simplicity and price point. Chirashi Bowl - 5/5 I really liked the presentation as well as the variety of fish. It was really fresh and the was prefect to share with the hubby (he eats a lot) Yellowtail Roll - 4/5 The roll was good. Hubby likes yellowtail more than me. Philadelphia Roll - 5/5 This is my go to roll and it didn't disappoint. The portions were generous and tasted Felipe's. Tamacado Roll - 5/5 When tamago & avocado get married, you get tamacado! It was served with some fried sweet potato that I wished was in bigger pieces/easier for my toddler to eat, it reminded me broken fried pieces of vermicelli. He tried dipping very tiny pieces into soy sauce. He also didn't like the fried sweet potato with his roll either (he's young lol). I personally liked it, but didn't get much as he likes to hog the tamago dishes. Tamago Nigiri - 5/5 This was completely my son's dish, but he gave it a 2 thumbs up and inhaled it shortly after it was severed to us. Other Nigiri: Crab Stick, Squid, Salmon Egg We had so much food that I barely sampled these and hubby enjoyed. He wasn't too keen on the crab stick and squid (has had better), but liked the salmon egg. They were still working out the kinks of a new business (staffing), but overall the staff was attentive and friendly. The chef even came to our table to ask about our meal and gave us a free little appetizer. We were so full we had to take it home and try later. We had to also go for a walk after dinner because we were so stuffed! They're doing great as a newly opened business and I hope to come back soon. read more

Got takeout during their Soft Opening Friendly service and they answer the phone quickly. Easy parking in the strip mall with Baskin and Robbins and Starbucks. The food quality is excellent here. Reminds me of the high quality sushi places that I got in back home in Hawaii growing up, which I feel can be hard to get in LA. Loved their fresh sushi rolls and they had a lot of great variety and options. They also have non traditional rice-less rolls which is great if counting your carbs! A little bit of rough spots with order coming out late from their ETA, and a wrong dish, but given it was their soft opening, understandable.
