If you see the Hefty Gyros' fire engine red food truck about town, check them out. They serve up hefty hefty hefty portions of Mediterranean food. The menu consist of gyros, falafel, chicken, pita, hummus, salads, and fries. Did I mention the portion sizes are hefty?! They literally pile on the food. I ordered a chicken plate. Whoa. In one container they literally piled it on... rice, chicken, salad, fries, and pita with hummus spread already on it. Plus they are heavy handed with the white sauce. Sure the portions were huge. But my food was assembled like a Dagwood sandwich minus the bread, in layers. Saucy dressed layers. Not how I like to eat a non sandwich meal. But great for a gyro. The flavors were terrific though. Moist grilled chicken slices. Fries were hot n crispy for a hot minute, same with the cool crisp salad before the blend of layers of taste crept in which didn't take long. My salad got lost in the layers and I couldn't distinguish that stand alone flavor.

Flavor bomb! The staff were efficient and effective handling orders and food prep. The food truck dynamic is standard across most. The lack of prices on the side was a bit frustrating, I prefer to decide on my food based on the prices. We ordered a gyro which came chock full of ingredients. I think the unique ingredient is banana peppers! Super good. The meat and sauces were flavorful. $14 for one of these seems a bit steep to me, but for a quick and easy lunch, I'd recommend it.

Quick and kind service, definitely worth the line. Gyro Pita - 9/10 Very nicely seasoned, salty and acidic combo works well. Good amount of food, even if messy. Peppercinis add a nice amount of heat.

Hefty Gyro is my gyro! A gyro pita and a side of falafel at Food Truck Friday in Idlewild Park in Reno from a Sacramento food truck. The pita is warm and holds together the lamb meat, tzatziki sauce and fresh vegetables just fine. It was a perfect pita wrap. The falafel was not made into patties it was more freeform chunks. Some were very crispy and others near to doughy. The taste was ok but texture off. A small cup of sauce would have helped. I enjoyed the meal but the falafel has to be in patties that cook evenly. The pita is worth another visit so stop by and try it or one of the other wonderful looking items on the menu.

Hefty Gyros was one of the food trucks at my work today that comes every Friday and I finally decided to check them out for lunch. I ordered the Chicken on Rice plate which is a HEFTY amount of food - it comes with rice, chicken, a salad, pita bread, hummus and even fries! Everything was nicely seasoned and you definitely get some bang for your buck! So filling! Service was friendly and quick! I can't really comment on the ambiance as it is a food truck, but you can tell their food is fresh and there was a longer line to order than the other food trucks that were around. I love Mediterranean food and I can definitely see myself ordering from them again!

So good! That's all you need to know. Everything on their menu was amazing, but their fries? Those were the main event right there! 10/10. Had the chance to try them at a work event and I honestly wished I lived closer to their pop areas so that I can enjoy it over and over again. The staff was super friendly and had great energy even with the mass amount of people they had coming to their window. I got the fries with a combo meat option and it was so loaded up you had a good bite each time. Can't wait for another opportunity to have their food again.

Every time they come to Travis Air Force Base with a food truck, I go to Hefty Gyros. Their Gyro Pita is fire. There fries are fire. Hummus is fire. Everything is so good and the customer service is great. Plus, the speed at which they make food is unheard of. 5 out of 5 and highly recommend!

I don't care if I brought lunch from home, when I see that Hefty Gyros truck, you already know I'm there! Do your soul a favor and the next time you see that bright red truck, get these your hands on those mouth watering, great bang-for-your-buck ultimate fries. Definitely not 5 stars, but I feel comfortable with 4. The chicken is yummy and their fries are great, but their pita bread was a 2/5. Maybe this was just a fluke, but I was definitely disappointed with the pita. read more

Hands down one of the best gyros I have had. They had a food truck for a recent event I attended and the service and staff were absolutely AMAZING. The food was delicious and was such a reasonable price. On top of that, their Baklava dessert is something you have to get! I 110% recommend to eat here if you want to go for good food with great service or if you are considering renting their food truck!! read more

2 words: HEFTY FRIES If you're ever at the Hefty Gyros truck, get the hefty fries and get ready for the most insanely delicious meal of your life. The crispy crinkle cut fries are topped with tzatziki sauce, this red sauce (not quite sure what it is) and TONS of meat. Definitely hefty. The gyros are also amazing but the hefty fries are unlike anything I've ever tasted before. Their meat is more minced rather than the traditional strip that gyro meat is usually in which definitely sets it apart from other gyro spots. I usually get the traditional gyro meat (a mixture of lamb and beef) for my Pita and Hefty fries but I was sharing some things with my mom tonight at Elk Grove Food Truck Mania and she doesn't eat beef so we had to get both the fries and pita with chicken. Initally, I was bummed but decided to try it out. Safe to say, I WAS NOT dissapointed! The chicken was amazing and all the flavors in the pita and fries went together so well. My mom and I are both in agreement that this was one of the most delicious meals we have ever had. Also, the customer service is excellent! The gentleman who took my order (didn't get his name) was so nice and even gave me a free soda when I went back to get a second pita (no shame.) It feels good supporting genuinely kind people. I count down the days to Elk Grove's food truck mania when they're a part of the lineup. Amazing! read more

Hefty Gyros has never disappointed. They truly have the best gyros in town. I got the lamb/beef gyro meal that came with special fries and a drink. The gyro was fresh and infused with delicious flavorings and sauces. The fries had the perfect seasoning on it and topped with the most yummy tzatziki sauce ever! Not only is their menu amazing, but so is their customer service! I wish they were at UC Davis more! Definitely worth trying!!!! read more

Had hefty gyros twice now! I think that their hummus and pita is to die for. Which is crazy because I'm usually not a hummus type of girl. Their falafel is crunchy and delicious. Visited the Hefty Gyro Truck on Saturday Oct.23 at the World Food Expo. I was excited to try it based on the positive Yelp review. Boy was I surprised. The gyro was not a true gyro, which should be shaved from a rotisserie of beef/pork/ sometimes lamb mixture. Instead I got what appeared to be a sloppy Joe type of mixture, dry an over spiced. I was also lacking any tzatziki sauce which is a necessity in these types of meals. I give them one star for good pita bread. read more

I just had their falafel pita at the Sacramento Downtown Chow Down. Wow, it was amazing. I ordered it without the yogurt sauce. The chef asked my sis and I if we were vegan since we didn't get the sauce. He then gave us some free hummus with it! The taste was epic. Every bite had crispy falafel and lots of veggies. This is hands down the BEST GYRO. New York native guy standing outside Sutter Medical Center Sacramento swore by it, so we tried it... One word... AWESOME. The owner was so nice. Hefty gyros comes to my little town of Plumas Lake at least once a week and I look forward to it every week! The food is so fresh and is amazing! I love the gyro rice plate and my boyfriend loves the chicken rice plate. I also LOVE their hummus with pita, the most flavorful hummus I have had ever! Went to the one in Brentwood and the Gyro pita was fire had all sorts of flavors with the Gyro, tzatziki sauce was hella good too and that's my first time having it, also the hefty fries chefs kiss fr and the guy that served us the food was hella chill and polite. When we went back for more of the tzatziki and not only did he give us extra sauce he also loaded it up with more of the meat and peppers. Ambiance is really nice and eccentric. read more

Was really craving for some gyro and fries. I ended up getting both. The lamb meat on the gyro was juicy. However, I would've preferred more sauce on it. And the falafel fries was great! Great blend of spices. It was convenient that you can order online and pick up. read more

I looked up the origin and it turns out Wushiland is a spin off from the Taiwanese boba chain 50嵐 (if you speak mandarin, it says Wushi Lan). Located on Sutterville in a tiny strip mall with minimal parking right next to the Freeport area where there are plenty of good eats, some of which are my favorite places in Sac to eat at, Wushiland is in an optimal location. Bright, clean, and with a decent amount of seating, you have the option to order from kiosks or up front at the counter. The AC was blowing cold and a nice respite from the El Niño heat. The workers are friendly and drinks are made quickly. Be advised that the drinks are voluminous, especially if you're like me and ask for less ice. Coming from someone who considers Chicha San Chen their favorite Taiwanese tea chain (but alas we don't have it in Sac), the difference in quantity is huge. Obviously if you're looking for a refined style of tea chain, Wushiland doesn't compare, but still the taste of their teas shine through and there is a good variety for everyone's palate. The first time I tried their earl grey tea because I have been craving an earl grey for a while, and that was deliciously smooth. The mini boba were so fun to chew on, and I usually prefer them over the regular size. They provide a ton of boba here as well. The next time I had their yakult green tea and that was very refreshing indeed. Both times my husband went with fruit teas, and had nice remarks to say about both of his drinks. He also tried their new QQubes and their texture was very QQ (I had a sample). We will most certainly return to Wushiland, especially since it's so accessible. Prices are standard, and honestly for the amount of tea you get, it's very worth.

Also tried the brown sugar roasted oolong milk tea at 50% sweetness and with coconut jelly. The oolong flavor is nice and strong and the sweetness was perfect. Next time I'll try the early gray milk tea with the new qqube (mochi) topping. I just have to be feeling brave enough for the crowds here first.

I often go to food truck events seeking out new and great food. But sometimes its hard to figure out which ones i should get food from. so how does this truck stand out from the rest? When you first see the food truck, hefty gyros, you are automatically drawn to it. first off, there truck is a bright "fire engine red" color with contrasting bright pictures that are very clear and help you get a sense of fresh mouthwatering food before you have even order. The prices are also in a nice bold font so you can easily get a sense of what you are paying and compare prices before you get up to order. And the prices are very reasonable, much cheaper than many other gyro places i have been to, and cheaper than most other food trucks. When you get up to the truck to order you are immediately greeted by there friendly staff. If you have any questions about the food they are very helpful about explaining things, and helping you choose the best dish for your specific taste. I have actually tried every item on there menu... I love them all. When you receive your order... your once again greeted with a smile... and treated to a freshly made plate of food (or gyro) that is also i great size portion for the cheap price you pay. The sauce they use in the gyros is really great and just adds the right touch of added flavor and spice. I also love the lamb and rice plate. Was sooo excited to try their food for the first time today but was severely disappointed! I arrived 20 min after they opened at 4pm. By nearly 6pm I was still waiting in line JUST TO ORDER FOOD! They were concentrating mainly on online orders and leaving the long line of people waiting to order on the back burner. It was not fair because a lot of people were waiting in line before a lot of the online orders came in, but those online orders got their food first. The food truck should have either shut down in person orders or online orders. Because it was very clear that they could not handle both. As time went on, the crowd of online orders grew bigger and bigger. Which meant they were taking orders from my line slower and slower. It was literally only ONE order taken from my line every 12-15 min. Seeing that it would take over 2 hours for me to get my food and let alone order, I decided to leave and figure out a plan B dinner for my hungry family. I was excited for the food truck to come to my town because of the convenience. But over 2 hours for food?? I should have just driven to Falafal Guys in Yuba City. To whom it may be of use, Hefty Gyros is the best gyros i've ever had. I have had there food many times but today they finally stopped by my place of work. I tried there gyro pita with side fries at Kaiser Permanente in Elk Grove. I usually am a chicken on rice guy but i wanted to see what the hype was on the gyro. (Side Note there chicken and rice is AMAZING). As upon order the food was served in less than 2 minutes per usual. That is something I love about this truck, staff is super nice and quick. Usually when that happens at other places it comes with the cost of bad quality but the gyro and fries were amazing. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned, the gyro was at the perfect taste of tenderness. The sauce really was something otherworldly. It truly is a flavor bomb upon the first bite. The young gentlemen who helped me even added a baklava free of charge after recognizing me. All in all Hefty Gyros has always been top notch to my family and friends. Another Homerun Food truck in town: HEFTY GYROS. And Im giving them a solid and strong 4. A little different than traditional gyro where the meat is stacked and pressed on a huge skewer and cooked rotisserie style. HEFTY GYROS serves the same meats but cooked more individually instead of large skewer and thats understandable since you never know how many to expect at different locations. I ordered the biggest platter they had. 3 meats were lamb, chicken and beef. ALL were fantastic. Great taste and perfectly cooked. The tasiki sauce was mildly spicy but just right. The crew was friendly and it was cooked pretty fast. The only reason I rated it 4 Stars is because they didnt have any rice. I dont know if they forgot to bring it but it was early in the evening and Im sure they didnt run out yet. The least they could have done is lower the price a buck or two to make up for no rice. The guy at the window (I don't know his name, but it's always the same nice guy!) will take good care of you. So I get the pita gyro with lamb. The pita is thick and fresh, super delicious. The tzatziki sauce (cucumber yogurt sauce) is light and refreshing with a hint of sweetness that pairs really well with the slight spice of the meat. Fresh veggies finish off the gyro. Hubby wasn't sure he was a Gyro fan or not, but quickly became one after tasting their amazing food. The owner was incredibly friendly and definitely wanted everyone's experience to be top notch! Wow! The first time I ate here, I had falafel. I've tried falafel at other restaurants and it's always dry. But the falafel at Hefty Gyro was crispy and delicious outside and warm and moist inside. A puffy cloud of yumminess! The next time I went, I had a chicken gyro. This was by far the best gyro I have ever had! But the best thing about Hefty Gyro, is the people. Everyone is smiling and friendly. I will go back AND I will recommend Hefty Gyro to everyone I know! read more

Hefty Gyros was a fantastic experience. They were catered for the company I work for and I have nothing but good things to say. Their customer service was absolutely amazing, very friendly and helpful. They had the food made very quickly and very fresh. What I ordered were the Hefty Fries with Gyro and Chicken mix. The fries had sriracha with another sauce and banana peppers I believe. Do not hesitate to check them out and get some fantastic food. read more

I had the ultimate (no lamb) and split the special fries. I have heard great things about them but was nervous about it not living up to it. Let me tell you it did and more. Not over priced like some food trucks can be which was a nice surprise. It was more than delicious, it amazingly satisfying with just enough kick not to over power the flavor of everything else. Outstanding! Hefty Gyros exceeded my expectations. Today their food truck was downtown and I had an opportunity to try the food. I ordered the Hefty Fries Gyros and was pleasantly surprised by the large portion served. It look amazing and tasted even better. I can honestly say Hefty Gyros is one of the best gyro places in Sacramento. I'm from the East coast, I love gyros gyro cheese fry yummm. But Hefty Gyro pitta is to die for. I've been missing my East coast food so much. The taste of hefty gyros brings it home for me it's so flavorful. I follow these guys everywhere. I LOVE LOVEEE, HEFTY GRYOS! I would buy it over and over if I could. The first time I tried their food, was on 4th of July this yr 25. I literally fell in love with their food, it tastes so good. Then I got it again at one of these music festivals this month in oct. it still tastes amazing, I was so happy to eat it again. Food is absolutely amazing!!! My personal favorite is the chicken over rice plate. The chicken is nice and tender and once I taste the rice I can stop devouring it. The salad is nice and refreshing and overall it's a delicious meal and my favorite lunch spot. 10/10 recommend. Staff is always super polite and get my food to me quickly. You can also order ahead which is perfect if you're trying to avoid the lunch rush. read more

I LOVE Hefty Gyros. They started coming to our community a couple times a week, and I'm not ashamed to say I've had them at least once a week for the past month. Tonight I ordered the specialty fries and they forgot the tzatziki sauce and sriracha. When I went back, they were more than happy to add a lot of sauce, but even gave us some baklava. Grabbed a chicken pita & some baklava during Food Truck Thursdays in Antioch and I've got to say that the pita was so FIRE . 10/10 on flavor & spice level. Probably one of the best I've ever had & I look forward to trying more items from the menu, KEEP IT UP!!
