If you see the Hefty Gyros' fire engine red food truck about town, check them out. They serve up hefty hefty hefty portions of Mediterranean food. The menu consist of gyros, falafel, chicken, pita, hummus, salads, and fries. Did I mention the portion sizes are hefty?! They literally pile on the food. I ordered a chicken plate. Whoa. In one container they literally piled it on... rice, chicken, salad, fries, and pita with hummus spread already on it. Plus they are heavy handed with the white sauce. Sure the portions were huge. But my food was assembled like a Dagwood sandwich minus the bread, in layers. Saucy dressed layers. Not how I like to eat a non sandwich meal. But great for a gyro. The flavors were terrific though. Moist grilled chicken slices. Fries were hot n crispy for a hot minute, same with the cool crisp salad before the blend of layers of taste crept in which didn't take long. My salad got lost in the layers and I couldn't distinguish that stand alone flavor. read more

Used them as a caterer for my party at home. Very professional, on time, and accommodating to requests made during the party. Gyros are one of the foods that I really love, but rarely get to order. We stopped by a group of food trucks and as soon as I spotted Hefty Gyros I knew what I wanted. We did stop towards the end of the night, so I'll have to try them again to see if the next experience is better. I ordered the Gyro Meal Deal with Baklava and a water ($17). It was ready pretty quickly and we took it home along with food from another truck my husband stopped at. The meal was wrapped nicely and it was still hot when we got home. I thought it was unique that Hefty Gyros doesn't use tomatoes and has banana pepper rings on their gyros. I also noticed in the photos that they had red onion, but I didn't notice it on my gyro. I did like the hot sauce they added to the gyro though, it added a bit of extra flavor and was really good. The baklava was delicious and I would definitely order it again. I would try Hefty Gyros again and maybe order something different the next time to explore their menu. read more

If you ever see Hefty Gyros pulled up, do yourself a favor and get in line! Not only is the food absolutely delicious, but the customer service is what really stood out. Even with a steady flow of people ordering, they were kind, patient, and attentive to everyone. They took their time to make sure orders were right and made every customer feel valued which isn't always easy in a fast-paced food truck setting. And the portions? HEFTY is the perfect name. I absolutely loved the loaded fries, each and everything in the loaded fries had its own taste, and each bite was so flavorful. I usually do not like fries/food from outside because they are overdone with salt but these were perfect and I cannot wait to eat them again. I highly recommend you try the loaded fries already. Short review: Disappointing, quality has gone downhill Long review: I used to love Hefty Gyros after trying them 6 years ago. Their gyros were excellent (tasty, very fresh bread, fries well cooked). I haven't eaten there for a while because they stopped posting their location on Facebook. I was very excited to eat again after at least a year, even after I already ate lunch. When I got there they had sold out of the regular gyro and only had chicken. Very disappointing for the following reasons: 1. Fries were lukewarm and limp 2. The spicy sauce they used didn't taste very good and there was too much of it on the fries 3. They used to have crinkle cut fries and now they are shoestring 4. The chicken was dry despite being drenched in hot sauce 5. Pricey, $20 for a gyro, fries and drink I'm hoping this was just a one off bad meal. Also they might get more business by posting their location on Facebook as well as not everyone uses Instagram. read more

The woman taking the orders wasn't the friendliest, but the food was good! Pros: The orders of fries were HUGE and for a very reasonable price. We definitely would have been okay with just ordering one meal. The birria and asada were both very good, well seasoned. Both of our orders of fries were delicious. The cons: We arrived around 3pm (they close at 6) & they were already sold out of a lot of their meats. We were told that it would be a 20-25 min wait, which we expected because the line was so long, but ended up waiting closer to 40 mins. As soon as we got our food, they closed? Which is super odd, their hours are very inconsistent as we had planned on stopping by other days & they were already closed or gone!

The portions are very large and are reasonably priced! The wait was about 40 minutes for our order, but to their credit, they were very busy. I'd recommend getting there early also as they do tend to sell out of some meats before closing.
