We came upon this place after staying in town and I'm so glad we ate here! Very family friendly and the service was amazing! The portions are HUGE so if you have kiddos and you order the pancakes off the kiddo menu they could share. My 5 year old ordered the "Little Boy Blue" (pancakes with blueberry sauce) and he got two pancakes the size of the moon and only ate half. Huge breakfast menu. Page after page of choices and they allow you to modify their menu items. Everyone in the family will find something they like. I had the basic scrambled with bacon and home fries (and toast). I wanted the potatoes and the bacon crispy, but not the eggs. They cooked it perfectly. There was a time when Heidi's in Carson city was a good value, now the serving sizes have gone down and items were deleted from the original menu but the price didn't go down. Today I go into the restaurant and asked for a seat by the window, which was open, yet I was told rudely by the server, I couldn't seat there. I refused, and left the restaurant. Typical case how this establishment has gone down hill, with no rise to the top again. read more

Had breakfast here to day. I was very disappointed. I had 2 eggs with sausage patty, home fries and toast. The home fries were just cut up potatoes nothing else, the sausage patty was over cooked, the eggs were ok and so was the toast. For the price I thought it should have been better. Omg went here early this morning, guess that would be yesterday morning now. I didn't have anything fancy, just some waffles with toast on the side. And they tasted exactly like I expected them to. Maybe a little better than most cause I decided to let myself cheat on this lifelong diet I've been on and also let myself have some whipped creame as well. But ya know, I wasn't nearly as thrilled with the food as I was with the service. I had a cute young gal named Christina or was it Christine I wish I could remember her name it was around 7am on Thursday morn. But let me tell ya, this young girl always had a smile on her face. My coffee mug was never empty, and she went that extra mile just to ask how everything was and whether I was having a good morning talked about her daughter (or son, hell I'm an old man) and asked if I had any kids etc..I don't think I've ever had a more pleasant breakfast since my wife passed away. This little ray of sunshine made my entire day seem that much better..well to cut this short (well shorter) The food was good and the service spectacular! Put it this way, my bill was around $11 and I gave her $25 and told her to keep the rest she tried to act like she couldn't take that much, but who are we kidding, we all know she wasn't there just to serve my breakfast haha. This is a solid three stars for my experience. Hubby was a bit leery to try anything (he's watching too much of Ramsy's Kitchen Nightmares) but everyone ended up getting pancakes in one form or another. Buttermilk pancakes were good, nothing to write home about but they were perfectly cooked and came quickly. I got the blueberry stack and the pancakes were edible. I must be spoiled being from the Bay Area, I just assumed the blueberries would be fresh and not some canned/bottled/frozen reheated syrupy mess. The plus, the waitress was friendly and attentive. Terrible service and average food!!! We have eaten at so many diners across the Western US and were excited to try Heidi's.... until we did. We felt like we were imposing on our waitress from the moment we sat down. Everyone who was seated after us received their meals before we did... when we asked the waitress, she rudely responded that she "has no control over the kitchen." Then as she walked by us to bring yet another group who was seated after us their breakfast, she sarcastically advised it would be exactly 4 minutes. We ordered pancakes and a scrambled egg skillet... nothing complicated but the skillet still came out WRONG. Never ever again will we eat here while in Carson. I give it a 3 for the atmosphere and because the omelet was okay. Home fries were sad: plain, dry, and blah. My friend ordered chicken and waffles and I'm still kicking myself for not taking a photo of it for this review. SO pathetic. One plain waffle, okay... but the chicken was SO sad. Two little reheated from frozen chicken strips laid over the top of the waffle. Not sure why my friend didn't send her plate back. Oh well. That was my third trip to Heidi's and I'm not planning to go back - there are plenty of better breakfast places in town. Sorry, Heidi's... but your food needs a major revamp! read more

We are from out of town, and over the years I have heard of Heidi from Friends. The first day we went there the food rocked I would say 5 stars for the food...the waffle was wonderful, crispy golden brown, waitress was great. Utensils was so dirty that it looked like some else eat with it! Two days later, the waffle was not golden brown, I little undercooked, eggs were cold when served, the Mountain crêpe was wonderful. Personally I think this place need just a little TLC from Management or Ownership to turn it into some thing great. read more

Given that we enjoyed our meals at the Heidi's in Tahoe, we decided to give this location a try on our way home from Reno. We figured it should be similar, right? WRONG. Small, dirty, run down little diner. Restrooms smelled like a campground bathroom. Food was lukewarm. The home fries tasted "off," with a bitter-sour note, like the potatoes were just short of being bad. When we mentioned this, our server said "Really? Huh. I'll have to mention it to the kitchen guys." No mention of deducting them from our bill was offered. The servers were sweet and prompt, but that's about the only good thing I can say. read more

Hands down this breakfast joint is worth coming to! I forgot to take pictures of the meals..:/ I have a personal quest to find the best corn beef hash breakfast from various states I stop by in. Today being Heidi's:) usually places have it on the menu and more than 99% of the time it's canned.... which is gross and extremely to salty to eat. (Personal opinion). I ask our lovely waitress straight, is the corn beef here fresh or canned? She replies it's home made. Like hell ya okay so I place my order. Comes out and at first I was kinda skeptical because it's plated like the canned stuff...I check for little things that would indicate it being canned. Nothing so I was even more excited I didn't find perfectly diced squares off potatoes chunks in it lol. Omg (oh my gosh) it's amazing and flavours are great! Not overly salty at all. Like the perfect amount of sodium. Has toasted bell pepper chunks in it. Mmm ya it's totally worth trying out. The rest of the family had the strawberry crepes and chicken fried steak and they were extremely pleased with there meals as well. read more

Good food, good service, but . . . has a sanitation problem. I was there about a half hour before closing and before my food arrived I started smelling a terrible bleach smell. I asked the waitress about it and she said they are cleaning the bathroom. I said they need to close the door and she said it was closed. I told her it was very unpleasant for the customers. This particular waitress was wearing filthy clothes. Yes, filthy. It was a black top and pants and it had specks and particles of something all over it and a large stain on the side. Also, the floor was very dirty, under the tables and in the isle. Really disgusting. I'm glad that I didn't see the kitchen. read more

We have been going to Heidi's for breakfast omelets for many years...sometimes several times a week. Recently we have been very disappointed in, not only the size but quality of the food. The ham and cheese omelets are half the size and have very little ham or cheese...no longer worth the$. Fortunately the Heidi's at Lake Tahoe continues to serve wonderful omelets. I hope the Carson city location can "get their act together "! read more

Do not order their "joes eggs" worst I have ever had. Not only have they turned it in to an omelet rather than the scramble, it is absolutely tasteless. Could not eat it and of course they had no intention of trying to replace it with something else or reverse the charge when I complained. As a family of 5, it's sometimes hard to find a place where all 3 kids like the food. This made the grade. If we're ever in Carson City again, we'll eat at Heidi's again. Where to start? There's only about 16 parking spots, we had to park on the street. Then we get seated at a table that was so rickety and loose our drinks were spilling every time my daughter tried to color her picture. The food, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either, mediocre. I paid $2.50 for approximately 6 ounces of apple juice, and $2.50 for a mug of hot chocolate. NO REFILLS, you have to pay another $2.50 for that. My omelet was on par with ANY other omelet you can get for around $6-$7, except it was $11.50 here OH JOY. Once our food arrived the waitress disappeared only returning when we were done to drop off the bill. NEVER AGAIN, WHAT A JOKE!!! read more
