Absolutely love this place. We have been coming here for years and not only is the food delicious and they have a great variety on the menu, but truly our favorite part is the staff. They are warm and welcoming and it feels like you are having a meal with family. We went in to eat a few days ago and after putting ourselves on the waitlist I realized I had forgotten about a work meeting that day and didn't think we would have enough time to sit and eat. We went to take our names off the list and the host immediately got us a table and the lovely server made sure he got our order in and to us in enough time to enjoy and still make my meeting. the food is always fresh made and they are delicious. however, the service is quite slow. if you don't mind the wait, it is definitely the place to go for breakfast/early lunch. a few testimonies from the picky eaters in my life: my husband will only eat their key lime pie! it is done perfectly. a friend from out of town is super picky about breakfast burritos, but she gave two thumbs up and 5 stars of the breakfast burritos! tip: you can get 1/2 order on (some) sandwiches, get yourself a quiche/soup/salad. you wont be disappointed. you can also (recommend) to call ahead to order to save time. read more

I used to frequently come here back in grad school and its still just as good. I learned that the parking garage next door has free parking and street parking as well. The avocado toast is amazing. It came with a poached egg on top. The bread was slightly hard, especially since I like to cut it into pieces before eating it. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Work down the street and am thus here a lot. Large range of cafe/breakfast/lunch/bakery options. Casual environment with mostly outside seating and a couple indoor tables. They use fresh ingredients and have a nice menu but it's overall very average in my opinion, especially for the exorbitant prices. Coffee is not very good, but very affordable. All of their bakery items look nice and sound good but are always quite underwhelming (and are all quite pricey). The workers are nice but their service is always quite slow and disorganized. Could be excellent with some refinements, but for now only average. read more

The food is really good and definitely diverse with a large menu, I also love that they have a self serve bar outside with napkins, straws, cups, and sauces you might need which make it a lot more efficient to get anything you might need. Differently an aesthetic place which I recommend to go on a sunny day so you can enjoy the seating arrangement outside. My only complaint is just the limited amount of seats available so you might have to stand for a short time until seating is available but it's never been too bad! I did a search for best keylime pies in the area and heirloom was one of the bakeries that popped up. I called and asked if i could place an order for a keylime pie. I was a little hesitant since it was the weekend before thanksgiving and wasn't sure how busy they'd be. Luckily, the baker was available to fit in 2 orders of keylime pies for me. yay! when we arrived, i was greeted by a glass display of all their delicious looking pastries. i went a little crazy and got the croissant, chocolate chip cookie, coffee cake, some scones, the hostess cupcake, and also grabbed a fresh lemon rosemary loaf from the shelf behind the counter. i split half with a friend so i cannot speak for all the items, but the keylime pie, blueberry scone, and croissant were DELISH. would definitely return. my brother in law said the hostess cupcake was good too! 1 star knocked off because we had a 10am pick up time and the pies were not ready yet. we ended up waiting until 10:30am. was on a really tight schedule that day so the 30 minutes was costly! free underground parking right next to the bakery. read more

Came here after a hike at Arroyo Seco. My friend had her dog with us so we had to wait for a table outside to open up before we ordered. It was pretty packed outside as it was a nice day. Once we snagged a table, I got in line to order. It was 11:50 and the line was kind of long. I saw the sign that breakfast was only served until 12:00PM on weekends, but luckily I was able to order before the deadline! I got the omelette of the day which was spinach, tomatoes and pesto sauce. I also ordered the mango green iced tea. My friend got her usual egg whites, potatoes and bacon with a soy latte. The guy who took my order was super nice since I had to put it on two separate credit cards. Food took a little bit but it was super busy. Apparently every dish comes with Heirloom tomatoes hence the name. My friend's food came out first and then my omelette maybe 2-3 minutes later. Food was delicious! read more

I don't typically leave negative reviews, but my experience at Heirloom Bakery yesterday was very disturbing that I'm compelled to leave this feedback. I brought my dog inside with me to order some food & coffee, for takeout. I waited for my food, by the door & away from everyone & the food areas. The woman who took my pay said that they don't allow dogs inside. I said ok, so I went outside & waited. As I waited for my food & coffee ... 3 other customers & their dogs went inside. I sat outside & watched them, nobody told them that they need to wait outside. One of the other customers brought a big dog inside, can't miss it. The fact of the matter is that I'm Asian & all of the other customers who brought their dogs inside are all Caucasian. This leads me to believe that I was discriminated against & it was very obvious, as I was the only one asked to leave & wait outside with my dog. I am always respectful when I go inside of a store with my dog. I always have him on a short leash & never allow him to go near food items. Also I try to stay close to the door when I'm waiting, to ensure space for anyone who is not comfortable. The person who asked me to leave was at the register, taking customers pay (I didn't get her name). She did not have a great attitude or customer service skills to begin with, she didn't even say thank you to me as a paying customer. But more importantly, I am disturbed & insulted by the discriminatory treatment I received at Heirloom Bakery. I have been to this establishment before & want to support local businesses. This is pretty good. I was in search for a new breakfast restaurant and I was surprised. I really wanted French toast but it wasn't offered on the menu, so I decided to go with the next best thing: the breakfast sandwich. The sandwich is comprised of lettuce, tomato, scrambled eggs, American cheese, and bacon on white, toasted bread. I paired this with a simple cup of coffee and fresh orange juice. The sandwich is much bigger than I thought it would be and honestly, it was too big to eat in one sitting. It was crisp and delicious, though I think they could've went easy on the mayo. The orange juice is what really made this review 5-star. I was expecting the run of the mill Tropicana or Simply Orange, but this is some freshly-squeezed stuff. It's really good. I would come here for the orange juice alone. The wait in line was super quick and the wait for my meal was also quick. It's a hipster joint so I can't imagine it being family-friendly. This used to be one of my favorite places for breakfast. Unfortunately, things have gone downhill. We no longer will go there at all as the last several visits have gone so badly. The last time really did us in. My husband's bacon was so uncooked and pink and floppy that I considered it dangerous and didn't want him to eat it. An employee was later passing by delivering a meal and I mentioned it to her. I asked if it could be fried a little more. She grabbed it and back came completely black, hard, crumbly, inedible bacon. Twice a month I visit S Pasadina and I make it a point to have lunch. Always great until today. My usual BLT was almost inedible. The bread was so toasted and hard, I basically had to cut the crust off to eat. Taking it apart it was basically all Romain lettuce solid hears, a few tomatoes and a lot less bacon than usual. For $15 there want much. On top of that, I was the only one at the counter and ordered a carrot cake, the last in the case, which I commented how lucky I was. After waiting ten min for my to go lunch, they came out and told me they were out of carrot cake. When I told the No one was ahead of me, they said someone else must have sold it. read more

This is my first time here. The tortilla is delicious! All their baked good look delicious but I haven't tried any yet. It's a cut little corner cafe next to the metro tracks with plenty of outdoor seating. My issue with it, NO INDOOR SEATING AND ITS FREAKING COLD OUTSIDE TODAY! I go to Heirloom Bakery in South Pasadena 3 or 4 mornings a week for coffee and pastry. Their staff is great, efficient and friendly, Heirloom has indoor and outdoor seating. My morning pastry favorites are : chocolate coffee cake, key lime pie, chocolate scones, and mocha bread pudding. The chocolate coffee cake and mocha bread pudding are best heated. It's not everyday I'm in South Pasadena, especially in the wee hours of 10 am, but I found myself yelping for a spot to eat brunch and stumbled upon Heirloom Bakery. PARKING + AMBIENCE Free parking in the metro station underground parking lot! We came on a Saturday and was pleased to find a convenient underground parking structure right next to the restaurant. As for the ambience, there is indoor and outdoor seating. The inside is quite small with a couple of tables, but they have more seating outdo FOOD We ordered the Pressed Breakfast Sandwich and the Autostrada. Both sandwiches were very filling, they were cut into two slices with one slice being more than enough for my breakfast appetite. The pressed breakfast sandwich was delicious and I liked it more amongst the two. The Autostrada included salami and ham, but it was not as tasty as the pressed breakfast sandwich, too much salami flavor perhaps. SERVICE The line starts by their food counter, they had a big chalk board that displays the menu, conveniently near where the line forms. After ordering the food, you continue to wait in line to pay at the cash register. I imagine it's quicker on a weekday since Saturday is an ideal day to go out and grab some breakfast. Also, make sure the bill they give you is correct! We mistakingly paid for the wrong bill and had to return to the register to correct it. CONCLUSION Overall, Heirloom Bakery is an okay place for breakfast sandwiches. The portions are great and the sandwiches are good. However, the food is a little pricy, the sandwiches costed around $10-$12. The place is also somewhat packed, all the tables inside and outside were taken when we arrived.
