I used this company 2024 after I sold my townhouse and stored my items in their warehouse for 4 months. I was too upset then to write a review because I realized I lost many boxes with them. My favorite shoes, paper shedder, party supplies, storage boxes etc which I regretted I didn't take pictures of the stored items inside each of these boxes. The boss made promises to take care of the boxes which didnt deliver in the end and I only made a small claim... which was an exhausting process from moving to looking for next new home. read more

We had an extremely disappointing experience with Helix and would not recommend them. First, the way the truck was packed was incredibly careless. Several pieces of our furniture were damaged during the move (see photos below). Items were stacked improperly and not secured well, which directly led to breakage. Second, they called us demanding full payment when the move was less than halfway completed. It was extremely uncomfortable to feel pressured for full payment before the job was done. Finally, the timing and cost were nowhere near the original estimate. The move ended up taking double the projected time, and we were charged twice the estimated amount. Moving is already stressful. This experience made it significantly worse. We expected professionalism, care, and transparency -- and unfortunately, we did not receive that. read more

Proceed with caution. My experience with this company was filled with red flags. It started with a representative named Phillip, who was pushy and rude while I was asking basic questions. Interestingly, when I spoke to a second representative and mentioned the poor service, they denied any rudeness occurred--until I explicitly named Phillip. Only then did the tone change. To make matters worse, after giving me a quote that seemed okay, they hit me with a $369 "fuel surcharge" add-on at the very end. For a moving company to charge such an exorbitant premium for fuel--a core part of their operational cost--is completely unreasonable. This felt like a bait-and-switch. Save yourself the headache and find a company that is honest about their fees from the start. read more

I had a large move that included 4 different stops...and this review is rather long.. But I wanted everybody to know exactly what this company did to me and my belongings with zero response from management. I labeled everything that was to go to storage and everything else was to go inside my new home. We started at my old storage facility, at this point the main movers was very nice and thanked me for going over everything and labeling everything. Then on to my apt.. This is where things start to go south. Instead of taking my reclining couch apart properly, the little mover-I can't tell you his name because nobody introduced themselves started to flip it on its side and started to push it with all of his might.I let him know that all you had to do was pull the top off part off, came apart in four different sections, he shushed me and continued to roll my couch in all different crazy directions until he finally realized that all you had to do was pull the top off While at the apt they broke an antique tray, when I asked about it, the little guy said "not me and shrugged it off. Still at the apt the main guy came in with papusas.. 3rd stop- This is where it all went downhill. As they came in, I noticed, the bins were broken again, claiming they didn't do it. The head guy said "it's a five dollar bin, im not going to argue over a 5 dollar bin, file a complaint you have 5 day". No one was arguing about it, I simply stated that they broke my bin. About 2 hours into stop 2 of the move the main guy came to me and let me know that everything from the apt was in and suggested that we take the rest to storage because my new place was getting too crowded. I agreed assuming that the furniture that we had specifically talked about from the first stop had already been taken inside. My uncle suggested to look in the truck to make sure everything I wanted had been taken in. When I got in the truck I was shocked and understood why many of my bins were broken.. they had everything piled and stacked crazy, breakable things with bookshelves on top bins upside down. And lots of furniture that was supposed to be in my new home, both stuff from my apt and storage was still in the truck. When I pointed out that things were still on the truck that were supposed to be in the house, the main guy told me they can't be bringing things in and out. I said nobody had to bring them in and out, just bring in the things that we had discussed were to be brought in to the new place. I started pointing several items that I saw right away. He cut me off and said, "we're at the point now that if you want anything other than those three things moved, we're going to leave everything here because I cant have my guys doing this, now get out of the truck you're not supposed to be in here.". ***I have all of this recorded by the way just incase Helix, management actually cares about what their movers are putting their clients through and how rude they are***I was shocked and tried to call and text my point of contact/ sales guy Mike but never got a response. After they brought those three things in they left. they drove past me while I was unloading the items I had in my car. 4th stop- as they were unloading, I pointed out the things that needed to go back to my place and asked them to put it in my car, my car was full in less than 15 min. I said something to the head guy about how my car was already full with things that were supposed to go to my new place. He complained about the time and i told him he got paid by the hour and he said "you're the only customer that has ever complained about a broken bin". I told him I felt like he was being disrespectful. He said, "even you're uncle apologized for your behavior" (my uncle was playing good cop bad cop and trying to hurry them up). I said "and", he said "that proves this is you and not us, your own blood said that". At that point I couldn't take anymore... they damaged the concrete of the storage facility floor. My dresser that is thousands of dollars had papusa sauce on it! They must have eaten their lunch on my dresser!! They damaged the staircase of my new place so badly paint was scraped off. They damaged most of my furniture and the storage facility's floor and they refuse to unload what they were supposed to at the third stop. I emailed the manager Mike the following day, but never heard anything from him. read more

I did not have a good experience with this company. The movers came an hour later than my allotted window. One of my bookcases was broken during loading. And they even went to the wrong address, adding unnecessary time to my bill. Ridiculous. Helix is top notch! Trust me...don't get tricked by other companies because you'll get what you pay for - I learned this the hard way. I recently moved again to be closer to work and was solicited by a company called Clutter. The experience was a nightmare and they left me in a bind just days before my move. I called Peter at Helix and by the end of our call he had me set up to move and not only completely took care of everything but he did it for $160 less than Clutter with their discount. I'm currently in the process of a move and I'm feeling completely defeated. The company I'm moving with (Helix Transfer and Storage) has been absolutely awful to work with- they have consistently sent me the wrong charges, have not honored their word, conveniently forgot to tell me about certain services that would need to be added which cost me hundreds of dollars, and more (all made up charges) What's my best option for getting some of my money back? At this point nothing! I'm writing this review so customer can learn about them! Scammers! and most of their good reviews you can tell that had been written by people they know! The guys from helix movers (Angel and Beckham), were all business. They came in and completed the job without wasting time, efficiently, and expeditiously. Very very disappointed. My experience was very very bad. Movers just dumped the boxes and furniture in my living room. They did not assemble the furniture. Broke a lot of my stuff. The movers cussed at me and threatened me when I asked them to take the furniture upstairs. They started extorting too asking for more money. Floor was also damaged. Would never recommend them. I have to say this was the best experience moving I have ever had. I usually don't go out of my way to make reviews, but I couldn't help myself after the experience with Helix Moving. I was worried they wouldn't have enough time, my items would get damaged, and they would be unprofessional. I was very wrong. They completed the job in under the estimated time. None of my items were damaged and they wrapped and protected them with all the care in the world. they were so professional and caring throughout the whole process letting us know how well it was going. When we got to the storage unit, we saw it being smaller then we thought and got very worried. they got everything to fit with room to spare. BEWARE !!!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU VALUE YOUR PROPERTY!!!!!! On August 9, 2025, Helix was subcontracted by Colonial Van Lines to move my things from Michigan to Georgia. They sent 2 drives, Mannie and Oscar. They were to pack of few boxes and load the truck along with the boxes we previously packed ourselves. They didn't not have any bubble wrap , scissors, markers or cushion packing supplies for delicate items. They only had paper for glasses. They use unmarked boxes and never labeled boxes for areas of the delivery to the new house until I mentioned it. They spent more time asking for my extra stuff than packing. They rummaged through my clothing, shoes and throughout areas of my house (where there were no items to be packed) and stealing items. Since I was by myself so while one of them was "Packing" the other was "loading". And stealing items throughout my house. They stole my Osmo Pockets 3 camera ($1K) , perfume out of a gift set (which they previously asked for) various iPhone accessories, and countless shoes and clothing items. When I called the dispatch on Sunday 8/10, I'm explained that they stole items from my house and he said, " I doubt they stole". I must have packed it away, I told him it wasn't in the part of the house to be packed. He would check with Mannie. I asked him do you really think he will tell you he stole it?. He said I have to ask him a certain way. I am like, whatever. . Mannie calls back and said he didn't take it. I said you most certainly did it because you left the bag I keep,it in with the SD card, microphone and the instructions. I called the Helix Moving company the next day, the 'Business Manager" and explained the situation, he said "My People don't steal. I said you don't know what your people do when they are not in your sight. He said we just don't take the word of anyone just because they say something was stolen. I asked him so basically you are saying I am lying? He said that it was my problem and they weren't going to do anything about it. I made a police report with my local police station. They left used tape rolls, empty water bottles and trash on the floors throughout my house. I would recommend these guys especially for a residential move. I had a local commercial move with many heavy items. Daniel was our lead mover; he was wonderful and provided excellent customer service. Every item I pointed out that needed extra protection he made sure it happened. Our move took over 5 hours on one of the hottest summer days with no A/C, so understandably the guys got tired towards the last hours and one member on the team started getting sloppy with our belongings (I believe due to exhaustion) but other than that everything met my standards. I would absolutely request Daniel for my move if I hired these guys again. read more

I'm not usually one to take the time to leave a review for places, especially negative ones. However, our moving experience with Helix this past weekend was so poor I felt like I should let others know. To start I'll give credit where credit is due, we had other movers scheduled that day who cancelled on us 10 min before our move for truck issues. Helix was kind enough to provide us movers for the afternoon despite last minute notice. However, when the movers arrived around 3:30 they commented on how they expected to only do one move that day. Which I understand how a surprise additional job is frustrating, but I also do know movers typically do more than 1 move in a day. My roommate & I felt bad they weren't expecting to move us so we offered them a case of bud light we had in the apt (pertinent info for later). The entire apartment was packed before they got there, with me also having already taken multiple loads of things over to the new location, yet it took them more than 2 hours to load the stuff into the truck. Then, they began saying they couldn't take the TV unless we paid them to put it in a $30 box. When I said I'd never had that issue with other movers and they always just wrap it in moving blankets, they said "ok if we do that then we expect a tip" (we were planning on tipping anyways but to ask is unprofessional). They still ended up not even bringing the TV or multiple other items in the apartment because they "couldn't". At this point it had been over 2 hours and I just wanted to go, so that stuff was left behind. We start the drive over to the new location that is exactly 3 miles away, still in Arlington. I knew we would get there before the movers because they're in a big truck and sometimes the trucks do have to take different routes. However, it took them 45 minutes to drive 3 miles, which seems a little insane. After they had been unloading stuff for a bit, I noticed one of them standing in the kitchen filling something out while the other unloads alone. He then asks my roommate to sign the form and pay, saying he has the price ready and they will take until 9pm to unload. It is no where near 9pm at this time and they had been unloading stuff for a while now. I inquired why we're paying when the job isn't finished yet and they're guessing when they'd be done. The worker argued with me & I kept reiterating my point that we're paying for 2 movers to unload our stuff, & instead of doing the job we're paying for he's been standing in the kitchen for the the last who knows how long, calculating the charges & arguing w/ us about paying before the job is done. I also looked in the truck and saw there was a few boxes left, so I offered to help carry them in and said that amount of boxes should not take another close to 2 hours to unload. Finally he says "if we finish before 9 you'll be refunded for the extra time you paid" So being frustrated, we paid the price because we really just wanted him to go back to doing the job he clearly wasn't doing. My roommates' parents then showed up and one started helping them move stuff in. Then after 8pm, we notice that they began bringing in 1 box at a time, even if it was a small box, and we wouldn't see them for 10 minutes in between box trips. This dragging process continued until exactly 9pm on the dot, when he said "we're done. Oh and look, it's 9pm". When they had me check the truck to see if there was any leftover items, one of them asked me where the bud light case that we originally offered them was at, which was very bold to be asking for after that experience. I told them it was back at the apartment with the other stuff that wasn't brought over in the move, to which he responded "oh well I already drank two when I was over there". We still tipped them each even though it was definitely not deserved, and technically they did not even being the TV which they inappropriately asked a tip for. The only additional items I had in this move compared to my 4 previous moves was my roommates bedroom furniture. One extra bedroom doesn't warrant taking more than double the time previous moves have taken. It honestly isn't even about the time it took, but the arrogance and unprofessionalism we had to deal with that was upsetting. If they left out their little remarks and showed the slightest effort towards efficiency and trying to finish the job, we would've been fine paying for the time it took. Asking us to pay before being done, then proceeding to argue with us instead of moving our stuff in, followed by purposefully running the clock until finishing at exactly 9pm just to have an "I told you so" moment is extremely inappropriate. We are both nurses who had 1 day we were both off to move. While we originally were very grateful that helix was so accommodating of the last minute booking, the movers that were sent were unprofessional & rude. I'm sure the other movers are lovely, it's just unfortunate we had the experience that we did read more

I used Helix Moving & Storage in 8/2023 to put my 1 bedroom apartment into storage for about 1 year. This was a positive experience; so much so that I decided to rehire Helix for a cross country move to the West Coast in 8/2024. What a mistake-I cannot stress enough how much I regret that decision. The experience can only be described as abysmal. I felt completely disregarded as a customer. I cannot in good faith recommend Helix Moving & Storage Company due to their poor customer service, the damage to my items and their claim process to pay for the damages they clearly caused - not to mention the emotional trauma. Moving is stressful enough without having to deal with these unprofessional issues. I suggest looking elsewhere for a more reliable and customer-focused experience. See the specifics below: 1. Changed the pick up/delivery window time frame more than once Helix changed the time of the pick up window at my storage unit from an 8am pick up to a 1-3pm, with the hope they could be there by noon. I left my house, which was a 45 minute drive, so I could meet the movers at the storage unit by noon.  Once there, I received a phone call to inform me that they were unaware their current engagement (the one prior to me) had 30 steps and the earliest they could get there was by 3pm.  One would assume that a professional moving company would know what was entailed in a move (ie - 30 steps) and therefore be better prepared to plan.  This lack of planning and coordination by Helix, caused me to waste an entire day, which required me to cancel my cross country travel plans and timing which included delaying the start date of a new job.  This included the loss of funds for having to change hotel plans and thus was charged multiple fees.  How inaccurate was their delivery window you ask? I requested a Friday, Saturday or Sunday because I had just started my new job and was not comfortable asking for a day off in the 2nd week of work. Normally, one might expect a four hour window on a given day, which is an industrial standard for a moving business.  Instead I was told, "Wednesday or Thursday".  If that wasn't bad enough, do you know when they actual delivered my items??? Saturday!  2.Poor customer service with unprofessional suggestions and language. Having just moved over 3,000 miles cross country and started a brand new job, I was uncomfortable asking for time off in my 2nd week of work. Customer service suggested that I "make friends with a neighbor, give them a key to my apartment, and they can let the movers in if you can't get off work."   These suggestions seemed ill-advised for a single person living alone.  As if moving across the country, and starting a new position is not stressful enough, their recommendation was to put my trust in complete strangers, because they could not accurately give me a delivery window.   When I called again and asked to escalate the issue to upper management, who was "not in" I asked to speak to the owner. I was rudely informed that the owner was, "out of the country" and that I had no recourse for abject of the poor service I received.  3.Damaged several items (see photos). The real issue came when my items were delivered. They were originally wrapped in plastic by Helix to be placed in a storage unit for a year.  When they delivered the items, I asked the best way to remove the plastic and the worker showed me his box cutter and said "carefully."  Taking a box cutter to a mattress and slicing it open is not being careful. Numerous items were clearly mishandled, to the point that my mattress and dining table were destroyed. 4. Filing a claim-which required another contract to be signed to keep me quiet in order to receive the money The kicker though, was after filing a claim for the damaged goods, I was offered pennies on the dollar to make up for the destruction of my property.  Furthermore, in order to receive any money, they were requiring me to basically sign another contract that prohibited me from posting any negative comments or reviews.  If I did, they could sue me and I would be responsible for all their legal costs. I went with Helix Moving for my move and recommend them for every step of the process. The price they quoted me was competitive (and better than many others), the movers communicated well on when they would arrive, movers were incredibly efficient and friendly, and I had to call billing department for something and they were friendly and helpful. My experience with them was great! FYI - they may charge if they need to use more than a set amount of their own boxes, so make sure your items are bagged & boxed appropriately. read more

After some back and forth and a bit of a rocky start, I had the opportunity to use Peter and helix. I thought I had completed everything I needed to only to find out the night before i used them I didn't. Peter was able to make arrangements to get my move completed when I needed it. I truly appreciate his getting it done for me. I'd give them 5 stars except I don't feel their follow through is as good as it could be. I signed the estimate and thought I was done. They could have followed up with me to see if I was still interested. Maybe there is a lesson learned on both ends. read more

We had an excellent experience using Helix to move into our first home! Getting a quote was seamless and transparent, and they were also very flexible when we had to suddenly change our move date. The crew was friendly and efficient, and took great care to wrap and package each of our pieces of furniture. Even difficult things like a large metal bed frame, Peloton, and older more fragile pieces made it to our new place with ZERO damage or issues. Management was very responsive to our inquiries leading up to the move, and on the move days the movers (Jose, Manny, Eliot, and Marco) were quick, careful and professional! Jose was the foreman and did a great job coordinating the move, even with some unorthodox components (e.g., loading belongings from both an apartment and a U-Haul truck), difficult New York roads and traffic, and a delay on our end that resulted in the move crew reaching our destination before we did.
