I got a shitty haircut here 1-2 years ago. That was bad enough. Since then, I've continually gotten spammy sales text messages and emails. There is no way to opt out. I tried to unsubscribe through the message and also by contacting this business directly. I received a response from the business's email that I was removed from the list, but I'm still getting the annoying messages. (See attached photos) So basically you'll get a bad cut and spammed with annoying messages to come back for another.

Teaching my son self love in Hell's Kitchen, is a bit over priced , kelvin gave my son a great haircut and my son LOVED IT, this is a great barbershop, very punctual with their appointments and understanding, they are good with kids and always feels good to see my son walk out feeling good about his haircut. My husband and my son are customers for over 3 years now. My only concern is/ was the lack of communication between the barber and the customer, as the price for the haircut was completely different then they are promoting. The price for my sons haircut was suppose to be $25 or 27$ for a kid, and guys, I posted a before and after, that shows how long his hair was, which I didn't even know length had anything to do with cuts for boys... I certainly DONT mind paying the price if I knew exactly what I am paying for but was blind sided, the lack of communication from the barber was the only downer, he told me a different price once he finished the cut, I honestly think that this is bad for the business to pull that move but, for each it's own.... I was charged $40 plus tip of 10$, total of 50$ for a 9 year old kid haircut when the board price says $25... thank god the owner knows my son and the tip was paid later by my husband. I was a bit disappointed about this price issue but Aside from that the barbers are good at there job, this is not the first time this barber has done this. hopefully this don't happens again because this will really define a man's character and make him look as taking advantage of a situation...

It's hit or miss with this place and I just missed... hard. I just paid $40 for a terrible haircuts that I have to now go pay another $40 for someone else to fix. My hair is completely F*!&ed. all I wanted was a simple fade. I wouldn't let him touch the top after I realized he what he did to the side of my head. Fml

So as a man with a full beard and full head of hair, a barber experience is usually that an experience. Where u go to relax and come out feeling clean and refreshed. After 10 minutes of me in chair and I feel her taking off my apron I knew I made a mistake, not a shape up, not a straight razor brought out, not even any shaving cream used, she did use a hot towel to just clean the back of my head... so unfortunately that was not the case, I showed a picture and got nothing what the picture looked like, I paid 30$+tip . The first pic I post will be the pic of what I wanted the rest of the pics, is what I received.

Steve, one of your barbers, Kelvin, completely messed up my hair. I told him to taper the back of my hair, and he did not. I said at least 5 times for him to only take an inch off the top. He left me an inch of hair on top of my head. I told him at least 3 times I styled my hair up, and he cut me bangs before finally putting gel in my hair that's now an inch long. I gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking he knew what he was doing. In reality he wasn't listening to a thing I said. I've never had a haircut this bad. I don't want anyone I know to have to ever have this happen to them. Please get back to me if there's some sort of recourse for this. I've included photos.

Been coming here now for over a year, this is the coolest place with the most profesional and best barbers in town, Calvin is nothing but perfection, he does my hair and beard like no other, prices for Manhattan are very cheap, same service cost you around $50 more and you won't get not even close to what Calvin does, highly recommend it, the place is clean and super cool designed, love the frames art, The whole staff is friendly and attentive read more

Beware of this place. I went to try this place out and was excited to have a decent looking barbershop to go to... I just got back from the dermatologist and my Dr said that I the rash/breakout was from a dirty blade. Now I am going to the pharmacy for a prescription. Gross! read more

I showed Alex a picture and told him what I wanted and what I did not want.He argued it was not possible despite a picture to prove it. I know how to cut hair , and I know what is possible I had that cut before. He went on ans did what he wanted, and I did not get what I wanted and what was on the picture. He is a one shot pony and doesnt care about his clients.He has to learn to tame his ego and listen and care for his clients. You guys have to be careful, there seems to be a lot of negative reviews, correct the guys or you'll have to close.Nope for me! read more

I stopped in yesterday and was lucky enough to be in Alex's chair. Alex listened to me try to explain -- poorly -- what I wanted my haircut to look like. He asked relevant questions and went to work. He worked quickly and diligently. No detail was too small for Alex, he was focused and professional. When he was finished I had exactly what I wanted! read more

I had Dave cut my hair for the first time today. He did the best barber cut I've had in years. That's high praise because I've had 40+ years of barber cuts, and I've not seen anyone do as thorough, quality and fast a cut since my favorite Italian barber from my teen years in Westchester. Walked in because I had a foot of hair to donate. Got one of the best haircuts of my life, complete transformation, and this will be my new spot for maintaining my 'do. Showed the barber a photo of exactly what I wanted and he worked with me until he had recreated the pic. Left feeling great overall! read more

It was my first time here. I will be more specific in my consultation forever after this. "Leave it long in the front" means cut it all the same length. The last two guys who left here before me and I all walked out of here with the same haircut. Don't come here for an individual look. read more

I have lived in this area for 4 years and I have been to several barber shops in the area. This is my favorite by far. The place is very clean and the staff is professional. I have been back several times and it's always a good experience. Everyone does a great job, but Shalom is my go to. I'm happy with this new addition to Hell's Kitchen. read more

My old barber here (Shalom) - who was great - left. My next haircut was so-so. I decided to try them again and made an appointment with Steve A - supposedly the owner - thinking it would be a better haircut. When I went in for my cut and asked for Steve (and said I had an appointment) I was directed to someone who introduced himself as Steve. At the end of the appointment he gave me a card from . . . Dave. I won't go back. At least be honest. What is the point of an appointment with a specific barber? read more

I booked on my appointment on Booksy for 730 pm. They took me in right away at 705, great. My cut was average and I needed to actually fix to areas to even it out. I made a review on booksy. HKB responded to my posting that maybe I went to a competitor across the street and they never do average cuts. I then added to my original review that if they looked at their booking they could see that I was actually in their place. Now, if I stated my cut needed to be fixed they should have offered me to come back in and take care of it at No Charge. They did not but belittled me saying I went somewhere else and the average cut could not ha e been done there. One star. I think I'll try the place across the street! read more

I have been going to Hell's Kitchen Barbers for the last 6 months and have received ~10 haircuts from Asher. Time and time again Asher has given a best-in-class haircut. I am biracial and have semi curly hair so its been difficult for me to find a good barber. Asher has proven that he can consistently give a great cut. Why do you keep looking around the neighborhood for a great barber? They're right here! Giving me a bald spot for fun is way too unprofessional for me to consider changing the review. I have offered to point out the guy to Arthur, but I am not asking for the guy to be fired. One of these guys gave me a bald spot because he thought it was funny. He thought I didn't notice and gave me a fist bump with a slight smirk on his face after the haircut. After the haircut my girlfriend told me I was balding, and I instantly realized what happened. The hair grew back to normal in a few weeks. At least one of the guys working here is an unprofessional jerk, so l'd recommend going somewhere else.

But most of those glowing reviews are pre-covid. I don't know if a lot of their stylists left but there's a notable lack of reviews post-covid. They're kind and the space feels lux and quiet. Problem is communication, went multiple times feeling very whelmed and changed stylist every time. After my third time I think I'm done, I've shown pictures and discussed with them what I wanted but they can never seem to get it right. Instead they default to a generic taper short off the sides and medium top cut, but then why tell me you can do the cut or even have experience with it? Is it my head shape? Face? Am I too ugly? Communicate that to me before you decide to just ignore the conversation we had and just free style. It's frustrating because I am growing out my hair for this cut and they do what they want. I don't want to be rude and stop you mid cut but then why am I paying so much just to be left unsatisfied? Most of the men leaving the place have the same exact cut. Anything longer than a short to medium cut is a no go, those cuts look clean and nice. Kept going in with shoulder length wavy hair just to get butchered every time.

One jackass who charges $100 for a haircut talked about how a real barber (such as himself of course) only does 4 haircuts an hour. Really 4 haircuts an hour? That's 15 minutes each, which after getting in and out of the chair and prepping and combing equals about 10 minutes. You might as well go to supercuts to get that sort of crap haircut. Which brings me to Jerry's! If you are in the city and want to spend 1/3 of what some hipster doofus barber will charge you then check out Jerry's! I used to go to Jerry's consistently when I first started working in midtown but started going to a place in jersey near where I lived at the time, though I still pop over once in a while. If you are in midtown and want a good haircut, this is the place (great if you work in midtown and the boss is giving you crap about your shaggy hair). Mostly older barbers who can do a variety of styles (though I doubt they do shaggy hipster/bieber cuts).They give a very thorough, careful haircut. Usually lasts at least 25 minutes, since they actually take their time and go over it more than once to make sure it is perfect. It is pricey around $30ish I believe, but hey, its in midtown. And of course they use a straight razor, and less importantly but still really cool, they have an ancient hand cranked hot towel machine! P.S. Its very difficult to find (buried in the basement) so ask for directions at one of the rock center info desks located at each entrance.

Absolutely brilliant! So, my " cutie Bear" needed a hair cut . I subtly suggested we try a new place . You all know men . Creatures of habit and all that nonsense. Soo to the corner we go . The place was quite busy , as it twas a Sat . afternoon, and yet the manager was ever soo sweet. It was only a 15 minute wait , not long a'tall for having no reservations. , and the barber named " Miguel" did a fantastic job . It's not that easy to make clients happy . I get that , but it tiss important, and he did my " cutie Bear " perfectly . I asked him what to do , and he followed instructions . Actually ,I must say, from a females point of view , the men , the clients there all looked great , and happy leaving . The manager kept a watch on all barbers , was efficient, and pleasant to everyone . A lovely lady Barber was there as well . The place was very clean , with comfortable seating , for us ladies in waiting, to watch our men getting cleaned up , and other customers waiting to be served. Men of ALL ages , and origins came in . Sad to say, this used to be my go-to barber shop but the quality has really gone down with some of the new barbers hired. Perhaps I've just been unlucky but I've been left to the newest barbers on my most recent visits and each time the haircuts have been well below standard and I've had to go to other barbers nearby to have things corrected after. Most recently I booked with one of the barbers I knew well but he didn't turn up to work that day and I got left with the same new guy who did a terrible job previously. He seemed to think he was finished with my haircut within 5-10mins and I had to keep telling him to do the most basic things (eg make sure the scissor cut on the top is all even, make sure the sides are blended to the top, etc). They're not doing a good job with their new hires. All in all, I won't be going back now. read more

It's more than a little difficult to find a phenomenal barber in Manhattan, and I'll say next it's next to impossible to find one that outranks and outclasses Steve and his newest establishment. From the moment you walk in it's simplicity with elegance. No gaudy photos or superfluous "pizaz." Just a straightforward, classy establishment with style and an old world look; an open, comfortable atmosphere where conversation rampant, and if you, like myself, lack the gift of gab, don't fret. The barbers here have an uncanny ability to recognize the balance between silence and banter that makes the place an unnatural occurrence in this city. I've been coming here for about a year now. Took me awhile to find the right barber/environment to get my haircut. This place was perfect from the start. The barbers are friendly, the music and whole ambiance is welcoming, and you can tell the customers and workers just enjoy being there. Initially, I would book an appointment with any barber at the shop. Through that, I was not once disappointed. Now, I book my appointments with Carlos, who's been cutting hair for a few decades. You can tell he has great experience and knowledge of cutting. Whenever I sit in the chair, he asks "the usual?" which means that he remembers his client's cuts and is confident in his ability. Have been going to Hells Kitchen Barbers on 9th Ave since September last year and can highly recommend this place. Great atmosphere, friendly & polite staff, and amazing music. I have had my hair cut by almost every barber in the shop and would recommend all of them. Today I went in to see Joe for the usual skin fade and I wasn't disappointed at all. Joe took his time and made sure I was left happy, his attention to detail is near perfect (pic attached). Joe made sure I was happy with the cut and asked whether I'd like my beard trimmed also which I declined as I like to do this myself. Will definitely be back, no questions about it. I've been going to Steve every few weeks since I got my first cut from him more than two years ago. I was so impressed I recommended him to a few colleagues and now they're regular customers, too. The atmosphere of the place is very relaxed; and from my observations every customer is given equal attention. With Steve in particular, he's attentive to what you want and offers ideas and feedback if you're having a hard time deciding on your style. I've never left feeling rushed or disappointed. Last but certainly not least is the price. This is one of the best deals you'll find in a city where it's impossible to find a good deal. I've frequented their first location for a few years on and off, mostly for the haircuts, not much for the physical location or interior of the shop. When I saw they opened a second location, I had to check it out. This new location is super super nice. It's so much different than other shops in the neighborhood. It's very bright, spacious and modern. Not cramped or stale or unwelcoming. They included a rinse off after, which was a pleasant surprise. Most barbershops in Manhattan want you in and out. Steve is a great barber and really cares about your preferences, while still giving valuable advice on styles and products. And of course, their prices are probably the best I've seen in a while. I tried this barber today as a walk-in. Shalom cut my hair, not only was he fast, the shop is spotless clean, smells nice and the service is very courteous. Shalom really knows how to use his clippers to give a smashing degradee, which is no small feat to accomplish, considering a barber needs to follow the growth of your hair in order to do this properly, it's something that requires practice and knowledge. He finished it with scissors and blade, and I couldn't be happier, truly a spotless haircut. I will definitely go back for him to work on my beard as well. I've tried multiple barbers in the city and none can compare to Hell's Kitchen Barbers. This barbershop is incredible. Everyone is super friendly, the music choice is dope, and the prices are great. One more thing... Literally, everyone that works there can give a fantastic haircut. They all know the ins and outs of hair so they really take their time with your hair. I have thick hair and they know exactly how to work with it. They aren't in the business of giving basic cuts. They are here to elevate your handsomeness. I have been loyal to Hell's Kitchen Barbers since they opened on 56th street, and loyal to Steve (its proprietor) for years before that. I would never send anyone anywhere else, and TONS of my friends have become loyal customers too. The new location on 9th Avenue is GORGEOUS and the haircuts are just as tight as they've always been. And SO reasonably priced considering the consistency of service. THIS IS A TRUE STORY: I got my haircut on Friday. Stumbled across Hell's Kitchen Barbers completely by accident but saw some guys getting some really nice looking haircuts through the window. Decided to go in after arriving from Dubai and they saw me almost immediately. Jo cut my hair and he did such a great job. My hair is very straight and difficult to cut, but he did an excellent job with great attention to detail. He didn't rush it or do a half asses job. We are visiting NYC from Houston and my husband was in desperate need of a haircut. We stopped by Hell's Kitchen Barber Shop on 9th and were greeted by Steve who could fit him in straight away. My husband is usually a Super Cuts kinda guy (and it showed!). Steve cut out a ton of the weight from his hair, textured it and took inches off the length. SO much better! Steve was very friendly and knew exactly what he was doing. We were given coffee and the cut includes hair washing. Highly recommended if you're in the Hell's Kitchen area, stop by and see Steve! When I first moved to NY, finding a barbershop was definitely something I was worried about since I get weekly cuts. I found Hell's Kitchen Barber online and went and saw Asher. Literally, the best cut I've ever gotten. Since then, I've seen him every week over the past 5 months. He's extremely talented, and overall just a good guy. Every time I go in he's friendly, and welcoming. I've recommended this place to a lot of my friends, and they all agree these guys are great. The guy that cut my hair was both quick and meticulous, two things I really appreciate in a good barber. After pouring me a healthy glass of bourbon he set to work, leaving not a hair out of place. Traveled for the holidays from Hawaii, always have a hard time finding a good haircut but stumbled upon this place walking around. I'm super particular about my hair and they gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever gotten, I felt that they truly cared about how the cut looked as a reflection of themselves as professionals. This is a really great place, and Steve is a great barber! He knows what works best for you, and will craft a cut that fits best. Unlike other barbershops, this isn't a factory at all. GREAT fade, listens to what you want and actually worked with my terrible cow lick. They're incredibly nice and sweet - really take care of you when you walk in the door. There's only one thing I wouldn't recommend...don't get your hair blow dried after a cut/wash. Not quite there yet. I had an amazing cut but walked out with a lopsided poof.
