Rib Plate, Yams, Greens & Hot water cornbread

Glad I got in today before the week closed for VACA. Always GREAT FOOD, SERVICE and Easy to Order.

Ribs, mashed potatoes and gravy, cabbage, and hushpuppies

As you can see, I've tried a variety of meals here. I would give this place a solid three. I've been more impressed with the sides then the actual many entrees. Cons: Meatloaf was not tender at all. It was a block of whatever it was. I wouldn't get again. Chicken and dressing had something grainy in the texture. It was like either mashed eggshells or a seasoning that wouldn't dissolve. The dressing was salty. Do not get the banana pudding. It's not a homemade one. I was disappointed by that. I haven't tried the fried chicken yet but it doesn't look like it's made to order. It sits on a heat rack after it is cooked. Voicemail is full and no one answers the phone for call ins or questions. Pros: Affordable prices A large amount of food I enjoyed the mashed potatoes with gravy and fried corn. I liked the turnip greens (a little salty) and cabbage. Hushpuppies were warm and tasty. The ribs hit the spot and fall off the bone. It's so tender and flavorful. Staff are nice and patient. Restaurant is clean

Met there with an ole High School Football buddy. The location is back in the corner of the old Zayers Shopping Complex. It's been a lot of things over the years. They have a day to day menu that has treat choices of Meat and 2. When we were there they had Neck bones, Fried Chicken and pork chops etc. My buddy got the Chicken and dumplings and I had the Pork Chop, fried corn and Greens. Everything was delicious. They even gave us a sample of the Neck Bones. Had Banana Pudding which was ok. However they had at least 5 choices of deserts. At first I was concerned with the service line lady because of the yelling to the back cooks. Lol when we got up to order she was a doll. It was like being at a family's backyard grill out. So if you like Fried Chicken, BBQ, Liver And Onions and just good ole Soul food this is the place. Just make sure you check on line or call to see what their serving. If you looking for Ambiance IMHO this place isn't it. Great Food it's a Champ! Oh I forgot to add the Hot Water Cornbread. I thought I was a Cornbread Connoisseur. Yet It was a first for me having that type of cornbread.

    Poor reflection of Black Business.

Decent food but terrible business. They close early almost daily, they never have all the items on the menu and the employees look beyond tired. This is a perfect candidate for the show "Restaurant Impossible". They sell decent food but the management (if there is one) is beyond bad. Every time I've been they're literally yelling out what they don't have. Then it's "we got 25 mo minutes on macaroni". Maybe everyone else is rating the food alone at 3.5, which sounds about right. But the restaurant is definitely a 1 star.

This place is straight fire!!!! The lady at the hotel recommended we check this place out and I'm glad we did. This was one of the best meals I've had in a long time and we will definitely be back again. Oh yeah and make sure you get the ribs

O.m.g. you talking about goodness for $12.30 open til 4pm

Best Ox Tails in the world and their portions are not skimpy. All the sides are seasoned and tasty.

The service is good & the staff is very friendly. Clean restaurant with many tables for your dining experience too. I had Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes with gravy, & green beans. Unfortunately, while the food was visually appealing, the quality did not match the presentation. The women serving upfront were ok. I ordered the fried pork chop with turnip greens, mac and cheese, dressing, and a cornbread muffin. The pork chop was heavily battered and overwhelmingly salty, with little flavor beyond salt. The mac and cheese tasted artificial, as though processed cheese was used. The turnip greens were tender but lacked seasoning and tasted as if they had simply been boiled in water. The cornbread muffin was dry, hard, and bland. The dressing was also very disappointing and lacked flavor. Overall, the meal was extremely underwhelming and not representative of good home-style cooking. I was disappointed with both the quality and taste of the food, especially considering the restaurant's branding. After only a few bites, I discarded the meal entirely. Based on this experience, I would not return or recommend this restaurant. In my heart of hearts, this place gets zero stars...however, I believe that I have to give at least one star.

This is a cash only spot, but they run the drive thru pretty seamless. The staff was super nice, and you can tell they take pride in creating an inviting environment, even if you're only able to go through drive thru. I had the Whiting Fish sandwich with a side of Fried Okra (a little too salty for me, but still pretty good). Finished my meal with a Chess Pie and it's absolutely AMAZING! Was in between meetings, so didn't stop to take any pics, but I implore everyone, don't walk, run (drive) down to Ed's and get you some great food!

Ed's Fish is a Nashville institution in historic North Nashville. It's been around for many…read moreyears--in fact, it was a go-to spot for my husband and his frat brothers while they were in college. My husband spoke very highly of this place. He and his frat came here all the time and even knew the original owners, who were welcoming and provided good customer service. Now that it's been under new management for several years, I wanted to check it out for myself and see if it still had the same energy and vibe he described. I usually order the whiting sandwich with everything, and it never disappoints. The fish is always hot, well-breaded, and nicely seasoned. You can order it crispy or regular--just let them know at the beginning when placing your order. The portion sizes are generous. I typically get mine with onions, cheese, hot sauce, mustard, and pickles. If you want extras, there's a small up charge, and if you'd like other fixings, just ask--they're accommodating. I'm not a picky eater and like everything on my sandwich--I love all the flavors bursting at the seams and complementing one another. You pay at the window once you're in line. It's primarily a drive-thru setup, though you can walk in if you prefer. Typically, someone will take your order as you drive up. Lines are usually packed, especially on weekends, but in my opinion, they have great hours. Just be prepared to wait in your car for a bit--though they move things along efficiently and keep the drive-thru line moving. It's a true no-frills neighborhood spot in a community with deep roots, and I'm sure it brings back memories for many who attended college in the area or grew up nearby. It's also well-known enough that out-of-towners make a point to stop by for a sandwich or dinner. Pro tip: Check their hours and take a quick look at the menu ahead of time so you're ready to order when you pull up! So enjoy, my fellow fried fish lovers go ahead and place your order, I think you'll like it over there! And check out my two photos so you can see what I'm talking about.
