I had the pleasure of trying their burrito, which unfortunately I don't see on their menu anymore or it was specific to the event they were at. That burrito was SOOOO so bomb, filipino-mexican fusion with garlic rice, delicious tender meat and the best dipping sauce that just infuses and brings out every flavor so perfectly (really wish they still had it on the menu). The silog plate was also pretty tasty which I had ordered with their lumpia and elote. Highly recommend trying this food truck out, plus the workers are super friendly. read more

This review is for their food truck which comes to the plaza outside the Pleasant Hill BART station every few Thursdays. I have been trying to economize on my work lunches, so have not been visiting the Thursday food trucks, where I can easily spend $20 or more. But I couldn't resist stopping by Hella Mas to check out their menu, as I had heard good things from my former trainer who now lives in Brentwood (where Hella Mas is based). I ordered the Mulita - a double decked quesadilla with barbacoa, topped with cheese, cilantro, onions and guac sauce. It was an excellent value for $7, and filling and tasty to boot! Once a month Hercules has a food truck night, I have made it a point to go, so hopefully, this might become a year-round event. Unlike Off the Grid events, there are no tables set up. It is not far from home so my food is always warm. I did notice that a few people had brought their chairs and tables. I ordered two tacos, the Asada taco had a lot of beef, it was tender with not a lot of spice. I enjoyed it. I am not a fan of fish tacos, thinking that a shrimp taco might be interesting I ordered one. It was so good the shrimp was so tender. I wished I had ordered another one or three. This taco is the reason I am giving them 5 stars The menu is a Filipino-Mexican fusion I would have ordered lumpia too but they were sold out of all the Filipino dishes. read more

Every other weekend or so we venture down to the Martinez Farmers Market with the kids to spend the early afternoon partaking of whatever is going on. There is usually different food truck at the market and this day it was Hella Mas. The menu looked simple and seemed like things I really wanted to eat. I ordered the Corn with no Cheetos and a Quesataco. The Quesataco has shrimp and steak with cheese. The corn was too spicy for me and I left that to my husband to eat. The Quesataco was unreal. I cant even explain how good it is, but Ill try. I don't know what the shell was but it was like a crispy cheese taco like shell. The Shrimp and Steak combo was thoroughly enjoyable. So savory and just an amazing combination. We are still talking about how delicious it was. If you see this truck around go immediately and order a Quesataco. read more

If someone just served me this food, I wouldn't know it's from a food truck. Amazing I got the Quesataco, Mulitas & Strawberry Agua Fresca Quesataco is soooooo great. I don't know why other places don't put shrimp & asada in the same taco. The chipotle sauce that comes with it was so tasty too Mulitas are so great too. I love barbecoa and not too many places have it so that was nice. The guac sauce was great. I always get agua fresca if someone has it and strawberry flavored is even better. I do see them around and now I know why it always has the long lines as it's delicious. Next time I'll wait in the line for sure. Another great Easter event with HELLA MAS being the one and only food truck and filling us up! You order the food and they provide a device that buzzes when your order is ready! This makes it super convenient for families that have littles to chase around our for you to enjoy other festivities until your food is ready. The workers are gracious and thankful! They come out, ready to serve, not knowing the turnout, and are always to pleasant. Their food is amazing, so I think it is a good outcome for them. I overheard them talking about trying to come up with a Latin music event. This shows that his heart is invested into his community. I hope to attend his Latin fiesta. Finally I will say: BEST CHURROS! I literally just came back from Mexico and these are better than the ones they had at our resort! Ordered the set of three tacos, which came out to be $14, not too bad, but man have tacos gotten expensive nowadays. I ordered two Al pastor tacos and one shrimp taco. The menu only showed three tacos in a bundle and didn't show price per taco and when I ordered, the lady informed me that shrimp would be extra. I think the hot sauce was also additional, but it didn't show in the truck menu. I didn't exactly know what the extra charges totaled until I paid. I would recommend being more transparent with prices. The tacos were really tasty. The Al pastor tacos had a generous amount of meat, although, the Al pastor was really greasy and made my tacos a bit soggy. The shrimp was big and juicy and the flavors were light. I enjoyed both, but maybe the Al pastor a bit more for flavor. The hot sauce tasted like it had a hint of fish sauce. It had an umami flavor. It wasn't bad, but the tacos themselves were flavorful and I could've done without it. Overall, decent food and would like the prices to be more clearly shown on the truck's menu. read more

What an amazing food truck. We were fortunate to see it in Rossmoor. We ordered the keto taco which has a shell of cheese. It was to die for. We got the elote and it was good. This place is legit! Was able to catch hella Mas for the first time today. Nobody was in line when I came @ around 1 P.M. I thought this could have been a bad sign as if the food wasn't good, but I had to try for myself. Ordered the hella fries, bifstek rice plate, and 6 pork lumpia. Everything was great. The lumpia were skinny, long, crispy with a generous amount of filling. The hella fries had steak, tomatoes, sour cream, and what I think is there secret sauce. The bifstek rice plate had a lot of rice, and steak... I could not finish it. Rice had a really nice garlic flavor to it. The steak was I believe a flank steak, it was a bit dry but was not bad. Would definitely eat here again, and recommend this plate to others. Also price is very fair! read more

I really dislike giving bad reviews but I hope they will take this review well and make changes. I bought a steak torta today and I couldn't even eat it because the steak meat tasted like pure salt. I seriously have never tasted something so salty before. My side is in pain now after eating a portion of it. I had to throw away most of the sandwich. The meat was also very overly cooked and somewhat crunchy. Not fresh maybe? This can't be normal. read more
