Service is lack luster...no smiles...no friendly service...and the cooks are RUDE especially if u want food cooked a certain way. If u don't like the way they make your food..u get it their way regardless of what u ask for. All I asked for was crispy hash browns...every time I go there, I get soggy HB. When I asked them to make them crispy they gave them back to me burnt to a crisp and when I took them back...with an attitude the cook turned around and said to me oh u don't like them like that?? Coworker ordered fries and chicken today in a group order which one person went to pick up. We order from here quite often as an office. I should have taken a picture of how gross and old these fries looked. They looked like month old under your car seat fries. My coworker called back and whoever she spoke with, who called himself a manager, was a mega douche. Didn't refund money, offered for her to come back and get another order, she's at work dude, she can't come back. Offered a credit for next time....next time? This is one of those places I forget to write a review about because it's just part of my rotation. I go here most for breakfast - they have amazing breakfast deals even on the weekend, so that is a bonus. It is also a convenient place to pick up a quick lunch if you are in the area. It's really easy to get in and out because there are entrances on both 11 mile and Evergreen. I will admit the coffee is barely average which is typical for most coney-like locations so I generally caffeinate prior to going. The service is generally pretty good as well. I have seen people who leave these one star ratings come back in time and time again, but they never leave a good review after going back after they say they wouldn't. The person who posted about the pancakes being burnt forgot to mention how the cooks saw their mistake and made two whole new orders of the most perfectly golden pancakes! They also failed to mention how they stole another customer's to go order! I love this place. I always order the Gyro for myself with soup. I haven't tried a soup that I didn't love. My kids ask for their chicken and dumpling all the time. I was really surprised today. Hellinics usually has REALLY great salads, actually great everything. Today the salad was not quite right. I ordered a Greek salad. There were big hard parts of the core cut up in the salad. About a teaspoon of sprinkled feta for garnish directly in the middle, and also to my shock and surprise "THE SALAD DRESSING" had been watered down with tasted like vinegar! Never in my years, nor my mother's years of purchasing food at Hellinics has their dressing EVER been compromised!!! My mother wouldn't even eat it. Made my stomach feel unsettled. It really grieved me to do this review! I love Hellinics. I've been going there since before highschool, and my mother now 83 has been going since she was in her 30's. I'm thinking the weekend crew was the reason for the quality, and taste change occured. I'm going to give Hellinics a rest for a while. I hope they don't disappoint you the way they disappointed me, and my mother. We were so looking forward to our Hellinics salad with their epic salad dressing. We ALWAYS do. The girls at the office are always singing the praises of some other worldly concoction known as the Greek dressing at Hellenic. Being one of those workaholic, eat at your desk, type A ragers, I don't typically get out to lunch that often. However, I was forced to abandon the safety of my monitor's warm glow in order to meet a client this week. The place was packed on a Monday afternoon but we were seated in a booth near the counter very quickly by a friendly and upbeat waitress. This service continued throughout the meal. The lack of personality in the service industry grates on my last nerve these days and Hellenic was an incredibly welcomed breath of fresh air. I had the Greek pasta salad, companion had Gyro with the house cut French fries. Both came out within 10 minutes of ordering which is standard in the area given the populations of cubicle mice running around the multitude of high rises. My salad came to the table sans the liquid gold I came here for and I was (at first) dismayed. That is, until the server pointed to the HUGE squeeze bottle of it on the table! That's right, you can use AS MUCH AS YOU WANT!!! Oh and did it live up to its reputation. This is hands down the best Greek dressing I've ever tasted. It's everything you want in a good lettuce marinade-creamy, sweet and tart all at the same time. Hellenic's is heavy on the dill which is what elevates it in my book. The quality of the other ingredients was spot on. In particular, the pasta was perfectly al dente. I always eat off of the plates of my dining companions (and sometimes adjacent tables depending on the joint) and found the hand cut fries rather meh. In sum, Hellenic is a magnetic force that may just pull me from the dark confines of the office once a week. read more

One of my favorite things to do is go get our "God on" and have some breakfast with my gorgeous daughter on Sunday....However, this particular experience kinda smoked a purple wang. After church I was stoked to take my girl to Starlite coney over on Southfield but they were CLOSED on Sundays! Unngh!! Didn't see that coming....so we shot over to Hellenic instead. Once we came in, the staff didn't want to seat us but just assumed we were there for carryout....no big deal, we just dropped our butts in a (dirty ass-yet dressed with silver, etc.) booth on our own and perused the specials. (The fact that many bottles of homemade dressing were lined up on the counter for sale did not elude me....very good sign!!) The princess got a ham and egg sandwich which she wished she had sent back. I got the gyro omelet and was really disappointed. Her food came out and I just sat there and waited...and waited ...and waited. She was almost done when my barely cooked omelet came out. (can't you just tell me you forgot to put the order in?) I am addicted to Franks Red Hot and asked for a hit, they brought over a squeeze bottle of homemade (?) hot sauce and it actually was just fine. (I was scared it would be buffalo sauce or something else completely crazy but it was great.....just a little scary). We both subbed ("house cut") fries and they were OK (Our server gave us the choice of "in house FF or the frozen kind from a bag"), ...I was just kinda red-assed because mine were kinda cold...even though they came out with a late ass omelet....started to get pissed actually. The service was decent, mostly hit or miss. Bathroom was tight and grodie but have seen much worse.... it took a lot not to give one star.....wont be back. read more

I have been a Hellenic Coney lover for many years and this is the one place I stop whenever I am back in town. The menu is the same, the food is the same and the salad dressing is still the best I have ever had. So good that I always buy 3 bottles of it to bring back to Philly with me. I just went into one of my favorite restaurants for lunch. Sat down in one of the many booths that were open. And I was told I couldn't sit there because I'm by myself. You have to have two or more people to have a booth during lunchtime it is 1:04 PM and half the restaurant was empty. The manager said to me sorry the rules are the same for everybody. The greek salad was below par. It seems as if they were trying to get rid of old produce that they didn't use over the holiday weekend. The lettuce they used was old, wilted and had a bunch of white colored pieces in it. The 2 slices of tomatoes were old.
