What a pleasant, friendly and clean little Coney Island! Booth seating was comfortable. The overhead TV on the wall was blessedly muted. I ordered a grilled Reuben sandwich on rye with extra Thousand Island dressing for dipping. It came out hot, fresh, crispy and very flavorful. Full of corned beef too! Martin's is AWESOME!! My husband and I have been coming here for years. Every weekend and occasionally a take out order during the week. They are clean and quick. The parking lot is a bit crowded, but no big deal. The wait staff knows what they are doing and keep coffee cups full. They are a bit flexible with their menu for example we normally order the #3 breakfast which is 3 eggs, 2 sausage links, 2 strip of bacon, a generous slice of ham, hashbrowns or grits. Martin's is an unassuming little coney joint. A line of booth tables and a small but busy staff behind the counter. Pretty nondescript but clean and tasty. I 99% of the time take my stuff to go. I generally order a salad. One of my faves is the Martin's salad. It comes with grilled chicken, cheese, lots of crispy bacon, a hard boiled egg, thick cuts of cucumber and chunks of tomato on iceberg. I usually get ranch with it, nicely thin not gloppy, or I have some of their snappy Italian. The large is huge so share it or be prepared to eat it for a second meal. No worries for me as I get it in the morning and eat off it all day at work.The amount of bacon on it is ridiculous so often I'll eat all of that as breakfast. My other fave is the Greek. I usually add chicken to it but occasionally go for the gyro meat, chicken is better but I like to change it up. Get the meat, again share or you'll eat it twice. I skip the onions and get extra beets. I don't like their greek dressing as much as Leo's but it's still good. If you want a ton if feta you will want to ask for extra. I like it but in small doses so I'm great with the amount it comes with. My other faves are the bargain breakfast deals before 11am. I prefer the grits with cheese to the hash brown option myself. It's a basic breakfast but at a nice price point. Way better than fast food too. The omelets are a bit more spendy but consistently tasty as are the skillets. As for the rest, it's all been good. The turkey Reuben is grilled with sauerkraut, which I like better than slaw versions at other places. The corned beef is ok. They have a great chicken quesadilla with salsa and sour cream. The coneys are pretty decent and the fries are always good and fresh. Takeout is easy peasy. Give them 15 minutes and pickup is painless. They are accurate, which is hugely important when you are grabbing food for a crowd. I have had the occasional half assed service attitude but overall they are quite friendly and like I said always accurate. Worth a whirl. read more

I ordered an omelette, French toast, chili cheese fries and a coney dog from this place. The omelette was phenomenal, exactly how I wanted it prepared. The French toast was a little dry and had a little too much cinnamon which was a bummer but the coney dog and chili cheese fries were pretty decent. Overall, I'm definitely going to continue to order from here and I'd like to try the other things on the menu. As far as the staff, they all seemed pretty nice. It is a small restaurant though so if you arrive during high time (especially early Saturday mornings and after church on Sundays) you will have to wait for a table. I called ahead and ordered food for pick up. When I walked in the cook was at the grill without a mask. No mask on his head or around his neck. (Not that that would have mattered when I saw no mask on his face I was not accepting any food for them) I commented, "He is not wearing a mask." The woman at the counter whose mask was around her neck (also a problem for me) said, "He's wearing a mask." And looked at him as if that was supposed to get him to put his mask on. I love a good neighborhood diner. This fits the bill. We had fast and friendly service in a small and tidy location. We shared the Greek salad with gyro meat. It was a decent size, but I think I'd get a cup of soup or the larger size for a shared meal in the future. They also had a great coney special with two coneys and fries for $5.99. We have been coming to Martin's since they first opened and have loved it except for the last few months. If you are getting a carry out you get your food right away even if customers who decide to eat on have been waiting for as long as 45 minutes. I watched 4 or 5 people come in and order their carry out and walk out the door before my food even gets started. I actually heard the cook say it was my fault for wanting well cooked scrambled eggs and crispy hash browns! Seriously?! I tried Martin Coney today for the first time, as the lunch spot I was planning on was too crowded. What a lucky break for me! I've driven by this place so many times, now I will be stopping. The restaurant was clean and neat and the servers were friendly and welcoming. OK, now the food. I just wanted a simple coney lunch. Saw on the menu board inside they offer a two coney special with fries for $5.50. WHAT? Shut up! I ordered that to go, and the coney's were awesome and the fry portion was huge! More than I could eat and I'm a big guy. The coney chili is just a little spicier than others, but that is what got the fourth star from me! The only thing that was a drawback was the fries tasted a bit like they had been fried in older oil. But I get that McD's sometimes as well, so that may have been just. me. I've frequented this place many times usually with good reviews but lately my last few visits here have not been well. The cooks appear to be in a world of their own, rarely paying attention to order details. My last 3 visits the fries have been terrible!! To overcooked & hard smelling like burnt oil/tasting as if the oil in the fryers are long over due for changing, along with dry over cooked burgers. After consistent food dissatisfaction I think I'll give Martin's some distance. read more
