I ordered delivery from Hello Jasmine and was so happy that I did. The pork chop rice bento box combo was phenomenal and the mango boba milk was so good. Highly recommend!

So this weekend while I was in the Chinatown area, I decided not to go with my norm and tried a different tea place. I ordered the Peach Tea Lemonade with Lychee and added tapioca. It was the perfect level of sweetness. Not to sweet not to bland. It was like heaven in a cup. The restaurant itself sells Asian food and a variety of teas. The vibe was pretty cozy and chill. You can either dine in or take it to go. It was also very clean. They were kind of busy so it was a little slow to get just a beverage, but then again it was a Friday evening. All in all I will defintelty patron here again.

3.5 rounded up because of mixed feelings. Authentic food with proper package presentation. Bento was fantastic but the boba fell short. I would definitely come back for more bento boxes but likely skip the boba (possibly order drinks with other toppings or none at all). Popcorn Chicken Rice Bento - fantastic bento, very nostalgic! Pickled vegetables, bok choy, a tea egg, tofu, and a piece of sausage make up the side contents. Each of these have a unique flair whether that's taste or texture. Rice and popcorn chicken is pretty standard, but juicy and tender. Much like the fast food bentos one might get in Taiwan, this was very comforting. Boba Milk Tea - boba was old and slightly overcooked, so it was firm but didn't split in half immediately. Classic black tea base but nothing special. Tea wasn't super potent but it was present alongside the milk. Overall would skip boba as a topping but inclined to try other drinks as classic milk teas are pretty consistent and hard to mess up.

I have to say. It's been awhile since I had a cute theme like takeout. Off the bat their fishballs is top tier! I only say it cause in NYC we recently lost "Shung Kee Food" it was probably one of the best if you want to make your own at home. All the loose ones out there now a days just taste like imitation or just filled with flour and starch. These on the other hand had it packed with flavor and bounce! Definitely a recommend! The popcorn chicken was a plus! Again. Flavor was there. Crispy, bouncy, goes well with anything tbh. The Taiwan mini sausage skewers were good too. AS cute as the rice box was it felt almost close to food on a plane kind of quality. It wasn't bad but I see what they're trying to do. I'd probably stick to the apps more next time then with the mains. Only downside was they only gave you the option to have bubble tea only. Wish they had more options to choose with the similar or same price range. As for the Mango/Grass jelly. I was pleasantly surprise ! i usually like it with milk tea or coffee but i have to say this was an eye opener! Definitely recommend!

Popcorn chicken was good. We didn't get the postcard and stickers that we added to our order and had to ask the staff for them though. Otherwise another good time at Hello Jasmine.

Hello Jasmine is one of those places that has both food AND boba. They offered some options for Taiwanese street food, as well as some actual rice dishes. Love a place with variety that can do it all! There's a bunch of seating and a bathroom which we happily used one by one after grabbing the ginormous key they offer at the counter for customers. Drink wise, I was a big fan of my Pinky Guava Grapefruit. It was such a summery drink, and the guava and grapefruit paired so well together, and it was, in fact, pink. There was a sourness to it that made the drink seem fresher, but it also wasn't too sour. Plus the fruit pieces added texture, and those fruit pieces were there across the board for all of the drinks my family had. Not only did I love my Pinky Drinky- I also am obsessed with the garlic popcorn chicken we got. I opened her up and was like "oh I didn't know this chicken came with rice." I looked a little closer. What I thought was rice was GARLIC. This chicken was sitting in a literal pool of garlic. We got essence of garlic AND actual chopped garlic all over these chicken pieces. It was the best thing I've ever seen, and it tasted so good. Hello Jasmine does everything and does it WELL, and I just wish they had one in NYC!

FLAVOR (4/5): Chicago doesn't have good boba and this is the best spot we found on our trip. The drinks are on the sweeter side but super refreshing. The grass jelly was pretty good quality too. We had their garlic popcorn chicken and it's not for the weak hearted! It has enough garlic to scare vampires away. The batter was nice and crispy. INSTAGRAM WORTHY (4/5): The logo and design of the place is pretty cute! The store itself isn't too big but had a lot of elements that made you feel like you want to sit and hangout for a bit. SERVICE (4/5): I appreciated that we selected a dine in option here and they actually brought us our food and drinks. TAKEAWAYS: The best boba we had in Chicago on our trip.

Parking: there's a parking plaza with lots of spacing and it's also near the train/bus station as well Staff: they're all super nice and help answer any questions you may have Inside: there's lot of seating for people to dine in or study at. There's a restroom (ask for the key, outlets, and free wifi. I will say that I went and the wifi wasn't THAT great so I wouldn't get serious work done here. Food/drink: I've gotten their spicy popcorn chicken that tasted mildly spicy and the assam black milk tea with boba. My top two items and they have so many other options to choose from. I'm excited to go back and try more

Six stars! On a trip to Chicago, I was craving some Asian food so I went to Chinatown. This place showed up on my Yelp search so I decided to give them a try. They are a smallish store but it was super busy on a Friday afternoon. We ordered at the kiosk and got the braised pork rice bento and the drink/fried chicken combo. Food came out fast. It was so good!! One of the best Taiwanese food I have ever had in the states (and I'm from Los Angeles). The flavor was amazing and tasted so comforting. The fried chicken was crispy and tender. The green tea was the perfect sweetness. The bento box was amazingggg. I highly recommend them! I think one of the best meals I had in Chicago. Bathrooms were also clean.

Always a fan of Taiwanese food! They sell both Taiwanese bento boxes and drinks. You order from a kiosk and the servers bring you your food in a tray. The restaurant itself is small with a few indoor and outdoor tables. I got the chicken steak rice bento, which came with a braised egg, Bok choy, fried tofu, pickled lettuce, and rice. While the portion was small and could've used more protein/chicken, it was delicious! The chicken steak isn't fried, but rather grilled.

Drinks 5/5: ordered the grapefruit, green tea and the the guava grapefruit. Both were great! They had a deal for the grapefruit green tea, at buy one get one free, it was pretty good and they use fresh grapefruit! For the guava grapefruit, that was the best drink! It was very well flavored and not too sweet Service 5/5: Atmosphere 5/5: very trendy Boba spot with a lot of decorations! I love the set up the place. It gives any more intimate, trendy but authentic look to it.

    Kathy T.

Authentic Taiwanese popcorn chicken and instagram worthy bear drinks! We also tried their rice dishes and other drinks but those two were my favourites

    Amy L.

Very solid place for Taiwanese food - their fried chicken has the delicious classic seasoning and love that they serve buckets as well! I will say if I had to compare Taiwanese places in the city I'd have to give the edge to Taipei cafe as hello jasmines portions are definitely smaller

There aren't many seats available so it feels like a semi boba shop as well. To sum it up, I would say it is ~70 to 80% authentic, which is not bad in my opinion. Braised Pork Over Rice 招牌滷肉飯: The presentation was beautiful and the flavor was actually pretty good. In Taiwan, this dish is usually more on the sweeter side, due to the sugar and shallots added. Here, it is more peppery and savory, and the flavor was actually really good. The beans and the mustard greens were very delicious as well. Even though the flavor profile is slightly different, this was well made and something I would come back for. Noodles with black pepper sauce 胡椒鐵板麵: traditionally this dish is called蘑菇鐵板麵, which uses mushrooms, black pepper and other sauces as a base. The flavor was good, but I wish that there were more mushroom and sauce to balance the black pepper. In my opinion, this dish tasted very different from what I used to eat, but it is not bad on its own. 2/4 Fried pork chops: the meat was fried very well, and it was pretty peppery and crispy. However, I think there are different spices and flavor missing, including white pepper, msg, garlic, Thai basil, cayenne pepper, and more. I wished that the savoriness and spiciness popped up more, and I thought the spice blend and the marinade could definitely use some improvement. 3/4 Beef noodle soup 牛肉麵: I thought the bone broth was pretty good, but I believe the flavor profile should be wider, like tomatoes, five spice, 豆瓣醬, soy sauce, and more. It was a stripped down version, and I wished that is reflected in the name of the item (renaming it "clear soup" etc). Also, the amount of meat they gave us was a little bit pitiful (there were like four pieces), and there were two pieces of bok choy. When Taiwanese people eat beef noodle soup, we definitely expect more. 2/4 Additionally, I wish the drinks were made with some fresh ingredients (not just syrup or creamer), as standard/good quality boba shops from Taiwan try to make drinks as fresh as possible. That is high ask, but I just wanted to note that as a suggestion for improvement. Overall, I thought the food was pretty decent. Would I say it is the most representative Taiwanese restaurant in Chicago? No. The staff was actually Chinese loll. But I do think it reminds me of some flavors and food I grew up eating in Taiwan. If you like popcorn chicken and pork, it is likely a good place for you.

The green beans came as a side with my bento box and were amazing. The ordering system is a little clunky and annoying but we got through it. Vibes in the space are fine, it's an efficient little cafe The biggest thing is that there's really an opportunity for more sauces! For the fries, for the popcorn chicken, for example, a sauce would make a big difference to dip it in. I like this place and expect to be back

The vibes were chill with pop music playing in the background. Service was solid. Our server was knowledgeable, explained the menu well, and answered questions without rushing us. The Pork & Chive Dumplings tasted like something my mom would make at home. The broth they sit in adds a lot of flavor and makes the dish even better. My only nitpick is that I personally prefer a thicker, chewier dumpling wrapper. The Dan Dan Noodles were the standout. Creamy, nutty, crunchy from the peanuts, packed with flavor, and not overly spicy. It was my first time trying dan dan noodles and now I totally understand the hype. 8/10. The Xian Bing took about 25 minutes to come out, which makes sense since they're made fresh. The lamb filling was flavorful and the outside was super crispy, almost like a scallion pancake. The bread itself was softer and thicker than I expected and could've used a little more flavor. Overall, this felt like authentic, comforting food that leaves you completely satisfied when you walk out. Next time I'd absolutely order the Dan Dan Noodles again and try the beef noodles, scallion pancakes, and beef dumplings.
