HELLO TECH has apparently made a significant change in ownership or management. I've had a membership with HT since before 2020 - possibly as early as 2015. Until recently, I highly recommended them to everyone I knew. I saw the monthly fee as a form of insurance - I knew when I needed help, I could have someone out reasonably soon for a flat $69, regardless of the issue. The techs were always highly skilled, professional, and engaging. I was complimentary of them. One of my latest calls was for a TV issue. The already unfriendly tech apparently didn't like my asking so many questions. He said he needed to go to his truck and never came back! When I called to complain, the representative automatically offered me a 50% discount on my monthly fee after seeing how long I'd been a customer. I told him how very kind he was and how much I appreciated his professionalism. More recently, that monthly fee was increased to its original charge. I've since discovered that I've been paying the highest fee for the same services offered at lower monthly rates. I also realized I've benefits to my membership that are promoted as free on the HT website, but I've been paying $69 for them. ​​My latest and final appointment: The technician added charges for services he did not identify as additional tasks, without requesting permission to perform them at an additional charge. My $444 invoice was fraudulent. HT refunded $199 and, in the process, lost a loyal customer of almost 10 years. The company also lost my continued confidence and recommendations. In my feedback to HT on that final job, I suggested: "Train your techs on HT procedures, including leaving no room for surprise charges and wearing pants that fit and don't show your underwear, among other things. Remind them they are representing your company when they enter your home, especially before sitting down in a customer's desk chair. read more

Our HelloTech technician, Mark Cook was extraordinary. He entered an unusual situation. He visited a post-stroke woman in a rehab facility to help her with phone issues. He stayed on the phone with me, all the way across the country, throughout. Together, the three of us solved some problems with her phone, taught her how to do some standard operations, assessed her ergonomic and other needs, and decided on accessories to order for her. Mark was patient, attentive, creative, warm, fun, and very savvy when it came to creative and appropriate solutions. My friend in the rehab insists that she will always work with Mark from now on. He was the lifesaver we needed! Cannot praise him highly enough. The only frustration I had with HelloTech was reaching a scheduling person by phone. Maybe I shouldn't have called on a Monday morning, but the on-hold messaging is maddening. They have to fix that. And, the constant pressure to purchase a membership is annoying. However, every human I spoke with and worked with was excellent. One more thing: The tech couldn't make it the first day and had to reschedule. The service couldn't be better. I wanted a Resound device installed and paired with my earbuds so that I could hear the television. The Resound device was incompatible with my television and sound system but David knew enough so he could accomplish the same thing, not streaming through the Resound device, rather streaming through the television itself. Now my wife has her volume controls with the sound system and I have mine through my earbuds. No more arguments regarding how high the volume is! I attempted to have this service done through Angi, no pro responded I attempted to book the Geek Squad at Best Buy, they told me they are unable to do that kind of service. Horrible experience. They sent a tech to hang photos that has no idea what he was doing. He hung a few photos. Completely misaligned. Variances of over 6 cm. This guy must have never hung anything before. Then he tried to hang floating shelves and was unable to and blamed it on "our builder building the house wrong." And I was still charged $129. He plugged my modem in and slapped a sticky back motion sensor on my wall and I was charged for him coming to my home. When the tech said he has the same issue with his TV we knew we were in trouble. He just hit some buttons on the remote - did not check or rule out anything. Big waste of time. Took me a while to come back and leave this review. Michael (the tech that came out), initially installed the mount upside down. I had no way of contacting him, so I had to call the main number for them to get a hold of him. He then came back out and fixed the issue, but there was still a problem and I brought it to his attention while he was there. The mount is one that can extend from the wall, so I showed him that whenever extended there's a tilt to one side. He told me that's why he hates those mounts because they mostly always do that. He left and I was tired of it always tilting, so I called the company I bought the mount from but also wanted to check something myself. I got my tools and went to the back of the TV, checking all the nuts to see if they were all tight, and of course two of them were not tightened all the way. I tightened them and problem fixed. Someone who is a professional came twice and both times couldn't do a simple job. He showed up in crocs and running shorts at that. read more

I requested a service on a Sunday and was given an appointment time. 1 hr past the appointment time I received a cancelation and request to reschedule. I rescheduled for the next week. That appointment was also canceled. Then I finally had someone accept one of the numerous times I suggested. Luckily, he called me to confirm and then called me back asking if I canceled ( 30 min ahead of the appointment), I told him that I had not. while on the phone I got a notification that the appointment was canceled. He then rescheduled the appointment on his end. The tech that actually showed up was fantastic and if I knew I would have him again I would use them over and over again. Apparently, the app is shit. I have no idea if the 1st tech received a cancelation from me or not. I do not live in the town that I need the service so I had to travel 2 hours just for this appointment because the previous one was canceled last minute....actually after last minute. If they hadn't already charged me a membership fee, I would have never tried again. If all their tech were required to call to confirm, this wouldnt be that big of an issue.
