I feel like it's a Bait& Switch scam - I agree to the price quoted and they want more money. We have had internet connectivity problems forever. In the past four years I've had four different supposed "techs" from task rabbit come -sometimes it would work for a few days and then fall over again. So I searched. Iwas going to call The Geek Squad, but after going through the reviews I found Geekatoo. It took about a day and a half for them to line up the right tech for me, but they called to let me know they were working on it-a pleasant surprise in itself! They sent me Eric and within 30 minutes he had diagnosed and fixed our problems. Then he explained maintenance to me and even took a look at my TV remote. I wanted to have my TV mounted to the wall so I scheduled Hellotech to come and install it. The price was good the "installer" was friendly, however the experience was lacking. He didn't have the right tools. He also asked me for a stud finder, and level. After 2 hours of him trying to locate the stud and going in the basement he wasn't able to locate it. At that point I gave up on him and he left. I called geek squad and they installed the mount in under an hour. Lesson learned - cheaper is not necessarily better. read more

I can't speak for the people in NY, but this was a complete waste of time. When I described my needs for instruction, I asked how to delete photos so they won't continue to come back on my 3 Mac devices. Just a training issue, I thought. Well, the technician , who arrived 15 minutes later, complained about why his company doesn't compensate him for miles and then complained about his roommates???. He said he could teach me how to delete photos and for 5 hours, asked my why there are different numbers of photos on my 3 devices....how would I know? In addition to the $79 instructional fee, he charged me $129 to back up my devices which he said I had to do, and now I have triplicates of all the photos I was trying to delete. Next step, work online with a guy who can get into my hard drive and appears to be trying but after an hour his shift goes off and I wait 28 minutes for the next guy to check in who says, we don't help with organizing photos . Basically, my Saturday and Sunday, $208 and the problem is worse that ever with backups feeding backups. Wow! What a loser of a business! Complete thumbs down and no master plan for what they can and cannot do. Can I give it a zero? read more

I have no idea why this company has so many good reviews. I hired Geekatoo because I wanted a professional to mount my television and shelving unit for a cable box and speaker. I should have just asked my landlord to do it because the technician showed up HOURS late and ended up staying at my apartment until after 11pm. He was unprofessional, sloppy, didn't have the correct tools for the job - and this was the "best" part of my experience! When the tech arrived he informed us that the wall that we were trying to mount onto was concrete and as such there would be an additional surcharge, AND we apparently did had not purchased the correct shelving unit for our type of wall. I'm still not sure if this was true or if mounting that shelf was simply out of HIS realm of ability, but fine, whatever. The technician gave us his number and told us to call him when we got the right type of shelving and that he would come back and finish the job. Mind you, he did not tell us any of this information until after he mounted our television. So - HE LEAVES THE JOB HALF DONE. When we called to confirm with Geekatoo they basically said "if he says he'll come back then he'll come back," which should have been a red flag but at this point I have nothing to compare it to and no reason to think he won't return. We buy a new shelving unit that is made for concrete walls and follow up with the technician. We set it up so that the technician is supposed to come back the following weekend. He confirms. Flash-forward to a couple of days before the appointment and he stops answering our phone calls and text messages. Just completely falls off the grid. I have called Geekatoo support over ten times and have been told three separate times that a manager will follow up to schedule a new appointment to complete the job. No one ever calls. I have waited on hold for over an hour during a single phone call only to be told that "all managers are out because it's Friday". I was told that mounting the shelving unit would be complementary, and then my phone calls are dodged by management. I asked them several times what they were going to do to make this right, and I have been ignored. Bottom line - this company left me with half a job done, dodged my phone calls, dropped appointments with no warning AND sent a shoddy, sub-par technician who overcharged me originally. The mount job that he did manage to complete is garbage - my television isn't even straight! I ended up hiring a local handyman (through Yelp) who completed the job with the proper tools in about a quarter of the time that the Geekatoo technician took. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. Ever. Hire a local - save yourself the headache of dealing with these morons. read more
