I needed to have two Ring camera alarms installed at my home. The whole experience was great ... except for the call center. I believe the representatives are outsourced. The woman gave me incorrect information, which was even confirmed by the technician. Noel was my technician. He texted me immediately and was polite and helpful. He informed me of his ETA and was right on time. He is an intelligent, knowledgeable, friendly, professional young man. He did the installation super fast. He really knew what he was doing. In no time at all the service call was complete, and both camera alarms were successfully installed. Despite the issues with the call center, this was a pleasant experience. If I could give this company a minus -0, I would. The first time I used them I spent a small fortune to connect my NEST system. Not only did it take them 6 hours to set up but they could not finish the job because he needed additional tools. But it was almost completed. I chalked it up as he really tried and he offered to come back but I was so frustrated i had my nephew finish the job the next day. Here is where it gets good. Hello Tech schedule me for an appointment on Saturday at 9:00. The tech arrives at my home to mount two TVs. My partner and I asked him if he needed help because the tv was a 48 inch and wide which we understand is an awkward size. Moments later we hear a crash and the tv was cracked. Hello tech now claims they never sent a tech but were quick enough to charge my amex card. NOT EVEN A PHONE CALL. They only communicate via email. What company does not call their customers!!!!!! When faced with fraud or people impersonating their company. What a coincidence that I was schedule for 9am and a random tech guy came to fix my TVs. Do NOT use this service. Like all the other negative reviews here, they charge you a subscription without ever agreeing to sign up for it. Terrible company, terrible service. I had my TV mounted for what I thought was $80, but turned out to be $170. This followed by the $20 fee that I didn't know I was getting charged. On top of that, they auto-renew your subscription, so you could potentially be paying $240 yearly without ever even knowing. They then of course try to wait you out when you call to try to cancel. I bought a nest thermostat from coned and contacted hello tech to get it installed. It was Sunday but the guy came, installed the thermostat and said it working but we need a power adapter. He ordered one and said I come back and finish when you get the adapter but the thermostat will work with battery until then. He left and I realized the thermostat don't work, went outside but the tech had driven off. Next Friday I had another appointment to install the power adapter, he canceled 10 min before appointment time. Made appointment for next day, the tech arrived and said the power adapter was wrong but he had one in the car for $20. I needed heat so I bought it, he installed it and left. Still no working thermostat and the display say no power. Paid $280 to hello tech for nothing. 2 useless visits. It's now Sunday and I have a local technician here to install the power adapter the first guy ordered. Now I finally have heat after 1 week without. It cost me an additional $250 to fix what the 2 visits from hello scam could not do even though they got paid for it. Better to take a local guy or the best should have been if I bought the thermostat and installation from Best Buy. How others will be smarter then I was. read more

Booked an appointment with HelloTech and got assigned a technician right away! All good so far. Then, the technician contacts me himself, and asks to reschedule for another day. The day before the new appointment, HelloTech texts me and informs me that the technician is no longer available, and to wait to be assigned a new technician. They text again awhile later asking me to choose from a list of appointments, but there's only one choice given. I click the link in their email and I'm shown a large list of available appointments. Getting annoyed at this point, I give them my availability, which did include many times listed on their appointment list, and was told to wait again. Next day, they cancel the sale, listing technician availability as the reason. Called the Geek Squad instead. I'm sure they will conduct themselves more professionally. read more

I purchased a Honeywell Smart Thermostat and hired a technician via HelloTech in mid-November to replace my current thermostat in my brownstone. The technician installed it, but didn't check to see if it worked. It didn't and my house was without heat for me and my tenants. I called HelloTech within a few hours, and they promised they would reach out within 24-48 hours. They didn't. My house was without heat for six days in 30 degree weather, I called every day to resolve this issue and talked to absolutely useless customer service agents that promised that they would get back to me, only to completely disappear. Finally, I had to hire an emergency electrician to come in and tell me that the thermostat was faulty. When I finally did get a hold of someone at HelloTech who did something, one week later, they told me I would have to return the thermostat, wait for a new thermostat, then make a new appointment with a technician. That would mean 2 1/2 weeks without heat in December. They offered no solutions. This was an absolute nightmare. DO NOT HIRE HELLOTECH. I have truly never received such horrendous customer service in my life. I have been emailing them every three days since trying to get a full refund for the thermostat (which they finally provided me a UPS shipping label for) and the labor. This cost me about $900 more than it should have, with the HelloTech cost plus the emergency electrician. Truly unbelievable. I've had plenty of bad experiences with contractors, but this takes the cake. BEWARE. read more

I had a tech come to fix my computer about 2 weeks ago. The major problem was that my monitor was black. I couldn't get online or anything. I am currently seeking a job. The very next morning after having the tech here my monitor was black again. So I am still waiting for a refund. It's been at least 2 weeks. I used Hello tech about a week ago to have a Nest Thermostat installed. I used another tech service prior to Hello tech and i was told that i required another wire and he wasn't going to be able to install it. When i used hello tech, my installer Rafael Enrique told me that the C wire wasn't needed. Enrique suggested to wait to see if the thermostat doesn't have any problems.
