If I could give minus 10 I would. Trying to shop with my husband for a ring and diamond necklace for myself was a disappointment to say the least. The staff hates their life especially the one taking care of us. Very short and snippy like we were bothering her with our existence in the store, zero customer service skills at all and rude, and on the phone was just as bad or worse. I was in fine jewelry and retail customer service arena for years, and if I (or anyone of my staff) treated ANYONE the way I was treated, I (they) would have been fired on the spot. A little bit of friendliness and helpfulness goes a LONG way people. Not to mention sales! I guess they don't care what they sell. Please Do NOT give any of your business/money here. Do not buy from this company or location. On morning of 12/22/22, my husband made a same day delivery purchase from your Crystal Lake IL location and Associate from store called us around 7pm on 12/22/22 to let us know they received email regarding issue with their same-day carrier Roadway and don't know when our item will be delivered. On morning of 12/23/22 my husband and I decided to drive the 1+ hours to store in Crystal Lake, IL to pick up items since no guarantee items would get to us otherwise. At pick up we ask about our same day delivery charge refund and if anything for our inconvenience of 1+ hour drive in -9° temps, we were met with very rude attitude and reply from Manager Kim telling us WE need to contact Roadway to get a refund. What?! I paid for delivery from Helzberg, not Roadway. I paid Helzberg, not Roadway so why would I contact Roadway to get my refund? Why was Helzberg not able to refund us for delivery service we did not receive? The woman "helping" my husband, who apparently is Manager Kim, proceeded to say I was yelling at her, when I was not, I was speaking loudly as I was on phone in my vehicle as my husband was in the store, then proceeded to ignore me going forward, and her resolve was to give my husband phone number to customer care, which so far has done nothing since we still do not have our delivery service refund. This issue was never made right, still waiting on refund. There is zero excuse for the interaction we received from your in-store Manager. read more

I bought earrings and my wedding band from Steve in December. And I plan on coming back to get my wife a customized ring in February 13th for their Diamond Event they are having. Ken the jeweler also polished my Mother's Sterling Silver Bracelet that was completely oxidized and she thought it was ruined. Until Ken saves the day! My fiancé and I went to Helzberg today to get my engagement ring repaired and my engagement/wedding rings soldered together after Nelson diamonds couldn't help us. Steve is amazing. My fiancé and I went in to look for an engagement ring after we had some issues with my first ring. He was very helpful and understanding. They have a machine that magnifies the diamonds on a computer screen so you can see exactly what you're getting, and this was the selling point for us. Very poor place of business Bought a set of flat screw back ear rings and when I went to pick them up (was told Wednesday but they weren't ready) I ended up there on a Thursday to get them finally they were ready and they were not what I paid for. When asked if they could do the diamond test, the man responded by saying " we have to send it in to an appraiser" Then said we aren't really supposed to use the diamond tester but he tested it very quickly without paying attention to detail or having any care. Its just better to see and feel a ring in person, so we found Helzberg to be an authorized dealer. I can't say enough about their salesperson, Matt and the entire staff of the store. They did everything they could to make us happy...Matt, the managers, everyone. From the moment we walked into the store and each time thereafter, we were treated like family. I brought in a ring for resizing before Christmas and was told it would be done by 1/5/2018. I called on 1/5 and they haven't even started, but they have an estimate they need approved. Okay, I approve it. I hear nothing for a couple of weeks, so I call in again and they say "the jeweler is out sick, can we call you on Monday?"...okay. Monday comes and goes without a call, so I call them the next day. They say the jeweler's still sick, and that they'll call me next Monday instead. After talking with the person on the phone (who just kept repeating "yeah I apologize" in a bored tone), they don't even have it on record that I approved the estimate. A month after I was told it'd be done and it's not even started. They told me they don't know if I can cancel it and come pick it up because "the jeweler does his own thing and he's out sick". Yeah, avoid this place. EDIT: The store manager called me and assured me that my ring would be ready by next Monday, so I'll update the review then. read more

Staff are extremely prissy, nose in the air types that glare you down the second you walk in and don't look like your made out of money. They lured me in by giving me the pitch that I could 'trade up' my ring and get a credit for the value of the ring towards my ring of choice. This was just a gimmicky way of tacking on $3500 towards a new ring, and honestly, when I walked out of there, I felt like I had just survived a tornado with the way those ladies treat you. They'll be sweet to you as long as you show them the money, then they won't remember a thing about you the next time you come in, complete with evil glares. Go to a local jeweler- you may pay a little more, but the quality of service has got to be worth that. read more

Went in to get my ring resized, the man behind the counter grabbed it and immediately said "Let's test it." They did not ask us if we wanted this, we only wanted the band resized. He then approached my fiancée and Said "you know this isn't real right? How much did you pay for it?" He then went on to tell us false information about the ring (which is a certified lab grown diamond) and pulled out store rings to show how much "better" they are. It was completely inappropriate to try to make a sale this way. read more

The manager at this Helzberg lied to me about a deal to get me to come back. When I came back and reminded her about the deal, she said she never said anything about it and we never discussed price. When I originally bought my ring I had brought it to another jewelry store to have it sized. When this other jeweler looked at it she told me the ring had been over polished and over time I would lose the smaller stones in my band, especially since I was going to have the ring sized smaller (due to stretching the band). When I mentioned this to Kirsten at Helzeberg she said it wouldn't affect the setting of my smaller Stones because he doesn't stretch the band when he sizes the ring. So I had my ring sized and it's been about 6 months well a stone has fallen out of my band. So I bring my ring it to Helzberg and I'm working with Kirsten again and she says that I can have my stone replaced which is fine (luckily we had bought the lifetime care plan, which she originally doubted that we had bought since she "couldn't find us in the system"), but when I tell her that I had the ring sized and I'm worried that it has loosened the settings on my smaller stones, she looks at it under the scope and she says yes your settings are loose probably due to sizing. So she originally lied when she said sizing wouldn't affect my band and what I was told what happened, happened exactly. So I was disappointed not only with the fact that I had to have my ring repaired (still less than a year old at this point), but I was also disappointed with the fact that this employee knew that this was going to happen to my band originally when it was sized and neglected to tell me until after I needed to have a stone replaced. Although the repair looks nice I would not recommend this place, the attitudes of the staff are an issue. read more

My boyfriend bought me a ring for valentines day and we got it sized. The lady I think her name was Sophia told us to come in on Sunday feb 12 no earlier than 6pm to pick it up. I go to pick it up at 6:12pm to discover that the store closes at 6pm. Very disappointed. What a nasty place. I bought a $5,000 diamond ring from them ten years ago and I got my jewelry fixed there, so I give them plenty of business. I came in with a gentleman who wanted to buy a ring from me but wanted a jeweler to look at it and say if it was real - should have taken two minutes. They told me that I had to leave, so out I walked out very upset - it was like pure betrayal and a slap on the face. I give them a lot of business and it's the least they could have done for me.
