I normally go there for threading but at one point I went there for a pedicure and I was so disappointed with the result. This lady who attended to me didn't seem to know what she was doing. Hemali's is an ABSOLUTE godsend. My entire family in the area (3 aunts, 2 sisters, and 2 cousins) in addition to my mother and I swear by Hemali's. There is never a wait, the costs are very, very affordable, and the service is impeccable. I once chatted with the owner, who everyone affectionately calls "Aunty" about how the prices are so low and she eagerly told me that she does that so that people can come in for their routine maintenance rather than feeling like they're splurging to look nice every so often. And boy, do I agree! This salon has been my go to for years in terms of eyebrow threading, upper lip threading, and facials. Threading: I go routinely to Hemali's to get my eyebrows and upper lip done about once or twice a month (these darn Indian genes make for strong hairs) and the staff takes perfect care of them and of me. You can request a particular staff member and they easily accommodate that. You can walk in for threading services and walk out within 5 minutes perfectly done. They use thread, scissors, and spoolies to make sure that they're giving your brows the perfect shape and can apply an aloe gel afterwards to reduce swelling. They also always give you a mirror and ask if you're pleased before they send you on your way. Moreover, they keep metal tools in an antiseptic solution to keep it all hygienic. Facials: Such a variety and for such low prices! I splurge and get a facial about 2-3 times a year. I got one today for my birthday and just called in yesterday at 4 PM to book it. This is an important point: you can't walk in for facials, but that's typical of most places! I've uploaded a picture of the facial set up and it clearly shows how detail oriented they are and their commitment to cleanliness. I love the fact that they massage your shoulders and the variety of lotions and treatments they use to get your skin glowing and incredibly soft afterwards. When you arrive, you take your top and bra off and slip into a sort of tube top shift so that they can apply their salves to your neck and décolletage too. Now, the not so pretty stuff: You do need to take control of your care and let them know any specifics about what you'd like to have done. The only times in the past 5 years that I've left dissatisfied have been because I didn't fully communicate with the staff about my specific preferences. Otherwise, they are very intuitive and caring in their treatment of their clients. They have plenty of individual rooms where people get waxed or facials so there's a lot of privacy with the more personal treatments. However, the walls are paper thin and sound and light passes through them very easily. Nevertheless, they put on relaxing music to try and take some of that away. read more

There's a full staff of ladies here to wait on you and they do a great job. The prices are excellent ($6 for brows? Yes please!) but be sure you tell them what you want before they start and that they look how you want them to before you leave. One time they had then uneven and now they're a bit thinner than I like, so before we get started I let them know I'm growing them thicker and to just clean up the lines. read more

I absolutely love this salon and the ladies who work there. The owners are very nice and always friendly. Heena is AMAZING. She is on point with the brows! She has literally looked across the room and fixed what she thought wasn't perfect ( I thought they looked great..but she's a perfectionist). I've also had her do my hair and facials. The facials are amazing. I've had lashes done there. They do strip not individuals but they were just right. They do a lot of bridal parties and if you know anything about the Indian culture and their weddings, you know they DO bridal right! I walked out of there on my birthday looking like a supermodel. I am African American and Asian but inherited the African hair. I mention this because they know how to work with my hair. It IS different and they know how to handle it for things like color, wash/blowout and trimming. I always go to this place for my eyebrows and the workers there are super nice/good. However, I will stop going because of the manager/owner. I went today for my eyebrows again and when the girl that did my eyebrows tried to swipe my card... something happened so the manager came over and they spoke in their language ( i kept hearing "refund"). So the manager tried to swipe my card again and even had to put the numbers in the system. It didn't work for the first time then she looked at me and asked " is this a debit card? how much do you have in here what's your balance? " I said " good enough to pay for a $7 eyebrows wax". Indian run.. it seems like they do everything here in terms of waxing, hair cuts etc etc.. I came in for my eyebrows.. the last place I went to in Dearborn botched my eyebrows so badly in July that it took me til mid October to grow back.. Farhat was the lady that attended me.. I explained to her what happened and was particular about how my brows should look.. she is a SAVIOR! My brows look so good! I don't even need to use my brow wiz! They are symmetrical same thickness. The employees do the work well but they are quite judgemental. While I was getting a wax, they were talking about my hair and my eyebrows in a different language. It doesn't feel professional and respectful. The quality of their work is okay as well. Sometimes they do a really good job, sometimes they don't. I have been getting Brazilian wax for 6 years, I've been to very high end places in Chicago to nail salon's in Ann Arbor, the wax i received today from Hemali was THE BEST I've had in 6 years. It was painless (yes, to actually say a Brazilian wax is painless, says a lot), and she was so quick. I went in on my lunch break and a wax and eye brow threading took all of 15 minutes. Went there for a last-minute underarm wax and I will not be returning. I was set up with a young, inexperienced girl who seemed like she had just watched a youtube video on how to do it years ago... She applied wax to the whole patch of hair and tried to rip it out all at once! Nuh uh! That's not going to work! So when all the hair didn't come out (surprise surprise) she reapplied wax to the ENTIRE AREA again whether there was hair there or not, so now she's just ripping off my skin. Not to mention that some hairs were just broken, not ripped out. The next two days my underarms burned and I couldn't put deodorant on. I also had to tidy up the job she did by plucking the remaining or broken hairs. I've been getting my underarms waxed for years at multiple different places but this was by far the most inexperienced one. It must really depend on the person you get to do the wax because the reviews so far have been really mixed. The only redeeming factors about this place is that they can set up an appointment same day and it's cheap, but you get what you pay for... read more

Even after the second time, there were patches I wanted her to wax but apparently she decided she was done before I even looked down. Went here today for an eyebrow waxing, since my regular place is closed on Sundays and about 40 minutes out. The shop has a comfortable feel to it but the employees are not very customer friendly. When I walked in and went to sign my name, they told me not to because there weren't other customers. I'm fine with that. Once I said I wanted my eyebrows shaped, they immediately sat me in a chair and a girl pulled out some thread. They didn't ask me what method I wanted or even how I wanted them done. Luckily, I stopped the girl and told her I wanted them waxed. The wax job was quick and easy. My only problem is she didn't ask if I wanted them shaped or how I wanted them to look. She also didn't give me a shape. Just waxed whatever was on my eyelid, above the eyebrow, and down the middle. The whole time she didn't make conversation with me but kept talking to other employees. Plus, she ended up using thread anyway because there were some strays she missed while waxing. Overall, it's inexpensive and she did make these eyebrows look presentable. A combo beauty place of sunshine. A couple of issues: 1. The workers will nod and say yes but then not do what you asked 2. Do not thin eyebrows if people don't ask for it 3. I had more than 1 sick worker thread my eyebrows these past 6 months to which I got sick immediately after. If your worker is sick, please don't have them cleaning the hair off my FACE and they are sniffling in my face, very unsanitary. There are many many times where I have to go after myself to remove hair on upper lip left behind as well as eyebrows. As for bikini waxes, they are quick and easy but again, I had strips of hair remaining that I couldn't remove myself until the skin healed. I would like a complete service of hair removal in said area. 4 stars because these are complaints over years of coming here. 4/5 times they are better than they are negligent. I have got my eyebrow thread once, It was bad, I had to fix them again when I got home.I went back another time and got eyebrows by a different girl, to give them another chance, again they were ok. I was a virgin to the 'Brazilian'. After reading several reviews on Yelp, I finally mustered up the courage to get waxed. When I entered the salon I thought it was odd to have a man as the receptionist. I was determined not to chicken out so I told him I was here for a bikini wax. Hemali came out about 10 minutes later and escorted me to the back. She asked me if it was my first time I told her yes then 10 minutes later my life was changed! Yes!
