Last week, while attending a carnival, I discovered a dog park and a walking trail…read more I absolutely love this trail--it's surrounded by so many trees that it stays nice and cool no matter how hot it gets. This is definitely going to be my go-to spot for walks with Bambina.

Christopher Morley Park - Roslyn, NY…read more Right off the LIE on Searingtown Road, Christopher Morley Park is a charming, low-key gem that packs a punch. The huge parking lot makes arrival stress-free, and while the pool is under construction, there's still plenty to enjoy. Let's talk dog policy--yes, they allow dogs, but only if your furbaby is running. So if you've got a chill pup who prefers a stroll, maybe toss on a wig and blend in with the sprinters This park is clean, upgraded, and full of surprises. The trail area is perfect for a peaceful walk or jog, and the amenities? Stacked: - Volleyball court - Handball court - Basketball court - Pickleball court - Baseball field (not court--gotcha!) - Skating rink for winter vibes - Seasonal carnival festivities Whether you're here for a workout, a walk, or just to vibe with nature, this park delivers. And when the carnival rolls in? It's a whole new level of fun. Boomsauce Scale: B - basura (trash) BS - basic (come on! Try harder) BS + - better (Yo! That's better) BS ++ - best (alright! Alright! Alrightttt!) BS +++ - Amazing location! now that's boomsauce! Trust me--I am vegan.

Glutton's Guide to Getting Burned: Our $4,000 Spike to the Face at 516 Elite Volleyball…read more If you're in the market for a youth sports experience that blends the chaos of bad reality TV with the organizational prowess of a middle school bake sale -- all at a luxury price point -- may I humbly suggest 516 Elite Volleyball? For just $4,000 (a small price to pay for disillusionment), we signed up for what was advertised as "elite" and were instead treated to a masterclass in mismanagement, where the only thing elite was the grift. Let's start with the roster. In a bold departure from, you know, every other volleyball program in the country, 516 Elite decided to jam 40% more players onto every team, turning what should have been competitive court time into a human game of musical chairs. Except the music was cursing. And the chairs were broken. The coaching? A refreshing mix of apathy and profanity. Nothing says "player development" quite like grown adults dropping f-bombs at teenage girls, then wondering why the team chemistry feels off. Spoiler: it's not the girls. Tournaments? Oh, we went. We packed the car, paid the hotel, sat on uncomfortable bleachers, and watched our team get absolutely annihilated in every single match. And the best part? Sometimes we traveled hours just to play... another team from 516 Elite. Imagine flying to Italy and eating Olive Garden. That's the level of thoughtfulness here. Growth? Development? Positivity? Structure? Nonexistent. This wasn't a team -- it was a tax write-off with knee pads. No leadership, no feedback, no strategy -- just a long, slow drain on time, energy, and the will to believe in youth sports. By season's end, we weren't just disappointed -- we were furious. Not because we didn't win, but because no one cared. Not the club. Not the coaches. Certainly not the program director, who seemed far more focused on collecting checks than building character. Verdict: If you enjoy watching your child regress, feel invisible, and question why they ever loved the game in the first place, 516 Elite is your jam. Otherwise? Run. And don't look back. Final Score: 0 wins, 0 growth, 0 stars.

They renamed themselves to 516 Elite Volleyball following the close of last season (2024). Don't be…read morefooled by the new name. The reason why they renamed themselves is because they're horrible at what they do. Their coaches are terrible. This club cost over $6000 last year. Between the ~$4000 in club costs (fee, uniforms, pre-season practice sessions) and the trips. I don't mind the spend as long as they deliver what they promised, training. They didn't. In fact, they broke the spirit of multiple volleyball players last year that did not come back this year. At the end of the season, my daughter threw away all her volleyball gear that she had the B&B Volleyball logo - it mad her sick to look at it and she never wanted to see it again. She was on the only open "D" team that lost just about every game in every tournament. Her coaches (Carlos and Jessica) only played their daughter or the same starters. The team had ~14 players but they only played the same 6 who kept losing. I had one of the coaches (Jessica) tell me I was lucky she doesn't punch me in my face (because I approached her after a game). This coach's (Jessica) daughter was on the team, and that's all she was interested in. The other coach (Carlos) was actually an A-Team coach covering the D team too. Needless to say, they were not his priority. Carlos only played the same six players the whole season, his starters and then spoke poorly of the other players. There was another very horrible situation attached to this club, but we won't get in to that here... most likely why they changed the name of the club. They are a horrible club.
