Y'all this place--it's incredible. I came here with my bridal party on my bachelorette weekend and it was one of the best decisions of the trip. Delicious! HenDough was recommend to me by my brother that had gone when he visited North Carolina last year so I thought I should check it out and I am glad that I did. My dad (who is local) and I decided to make a trip to HenDough this morning before I headed back to Texas and we were not disappointed. The biscuits are flaky with the perfect biscuit flavor that melts in your mouth. The donut was okay, I was a little disappointed that the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough was just an Oreo donut instead of actual bits of cookie dough in or on top of the donut but that's okay. In addition, the place itself is very cute and well done. I love all of the decor that makes it a vintage homie feel. Meh, it was ok I guess, definitely the Maple Biscuit Company is better, but I don't think I'd visit again. It left the taste in my mouth all day! And I will never understand why people like putting jalapeños in everything? Grits shouldn't have jalapeños in it, grits are perfect the way they are. The menu keeps expanding but still chicken based. One of the few places that has griddled biscuits done to perfection. Ok, I'm not sure if I've rated anywhere 5 stars yet, if so maybe one or two other places. The Hen Dough gets a well deserved 5 Stars from me. Ordered the fried chicken biscuit and it was very Crispy, and light, with great flavor. The biscuit was large and tasty as it had been split and lightly grilled to add a crunch with every bite. Jalapeño grits were smooth and cooked just right. Also had the southern sandwich which had fried chicken with pimento cheese and slaw on a bun. We stopped here on our way out of Asheville. We didn't want to deal with the Asheville brunch wait times so this was the perfect spot to go. We sat outside since we had our pupper with us. The staff was very friendly and informative regarding their menu and even gave the dog a treat! Let's get to the food! The donuts were out of this world amazing! The sugar twist essentially reminded me of a large fluffy funnel cake from the Texas State Fair. The creme brulee donut had vanilla cream inside and it wasn't overpowering like most chain donut places have them. The grits were delicious. They used thick bacon that was perfectly crispy. I would recommend mixing it all together because the grits tasted bland when I took a bite of only the grits. The mimosa could have used a bit more prosecco but the OJ portion was delicious! My husband also had the iced chai latte and it tasted like Christmas in a mug! We look forward to coming back to Asheville area just so that we can get more donuts from Hendough! read more

HenDough is not a healthy place, nor do you want to go everyday. Frankly speaking, going more than once a week is pushing it. This is not to say that their specialty and offerings are terrible or poor in quality; quite the opposite. The donuts and biscuits are made fresh daily, and are some of the most delicious in the area. The coffee, tasty and strong. And the breakfast/lunch options- wonderful! So why wouldn't you want to go as often as you can? Two words: caloric intake. A simple trip to HenDough will put you over your caloric intake for a combined three days. Sure, you can *try* to buy just one donut or biscuit, but chances are, it won't even make it to the front door, before you'll need to turn around and buy ten more. The only complaint is that I wish they were open a few more hours later. I can't stress this enough- the food is untouchable. But it's definitely a place to go to just once in a while. read more

Hen Dough is a breakfast and lunch restaurant off Kanuga Road in Hendersonville, famous for their nomz breakfast food and yummy donuts. The inside and outside of Hen Dough are equally adorable, with a vibrant color scheme and lots of seating areas. (Including a dog - friendly patio ... yay!) I would definitely say their theme is "chickens". They've got cute chickens. Multi colored chickens. Chickens on signs. Chickens next to other chickens. A chicken that looks like he's thinks he's better than the other chickens. And, a white squirrel. Order at the counter - check out their yummy, broad selection of donuts while you're up there - pay - get a number, and they'll bring you your food. I ordered a (free range) Chicken Salad Sandwich and a side of Mac and Cheese (you get one side included with your sammich). I also ordered a Snack- Fried Brussel Sprouts w/Aioli Saice. For dessert; I got a Caramel Espresso Donut. There are Lots of drink options including beers, fountain sodas, sodas in fancy little bottles, and more - I got an Orange Pelligrino. Everything came on cute little plates that reminded me of old fashioned camping plates. Very charming. The Chicken Salad Sandwich was very hearty - fresh and tasty. The Mac & Cheese was tasty as well - it had a slight sour cream/gouda taste to it- super nomz (the nice people working there said it was smoked gouda and cheddar flavor). My Brussel Sprouts had the perfect amount of oil (maybe olive?) on them, and a slight crunch. They were drizzled with aioli, but not overly drenched in a gross way. I love to make roasted brussel sprouts at home, when I've been drinking. But, have been pretty busy lately - so this was a nice treat to have them cooked for me! The donut was chewy yet crunchy- with a hint of chocolate and espresso. Very gourmet. Apparently I was feeling like a ravenous beast the day I went, and ordered lots of food... truth be told, I ended up taking some home and it was all very nosh-able as a leftover too..! Tip; if you don't have time to stay and have a meal - I suggest getting a donut and coffee to go before work, they're open at 7:30 seven days a week.
