You need to be drunk to eat here? Seriously? Do you people get tummy aches anytime you eat anything that might be a little greasy or unhealthy? It's a standard hots and hamburger place. Yes the food is greasy - it's supposed to be!!! That said, I try not to eat trash plates very often, but I love them, so once in a while I will treat myself to the greasy deliciousness. Henrietta Hots is a good plate. Far better than Nick's. I'm sorry, I know Nick's is the original, and I have fond memories of skipping class and heading down West Main to grab a plate, but we all need to face the fact that Nick's isn't even in the top five trash plates in Rochester anymore. The plate at Henrietta Hots makes a run at top five, in my opinion. They get bonus points for a choice of which two sides you would like on the plate (home fries, french fries, salt potatoes, macaroni salad or baked beans). Everything on the plate is solid, but nothing is really remarkable. The meat sauce has a decent amount of heat and flavor, and is not overly spiced as some are (I HATE too much cinnamon in meat sauce). The mac salad is somewhat bland. The home fries are average. I've never tried the salt potatoes, beans, or french fries. I've never had anything besides the plate. They are open late (3:00 AM on weeknights, 4:30 AM on weekends) for late night shenanigans. There is a parking lot with plenty of parking, and an adequate number of seats inside, although around lunchtime it sometimes fills up. read more

Henrietta Hots serves some food that no one will or should ever buy. They also serve a local Rochesterian delicacy called the garbage plate. It is, without a doubt, the greatest, least healthy thing one can eat after a night of drinking. And I say that having been to many a post-party greasetastic eatery. HH also wins out over Nick's simply it's closer to RIT. No more, no less. Also, I wouldn't recommend eating here if you're not at least 5 drinks deep, or really, Ethiopian-child-level starving. The food here is really good but the building is old and always seems kind of dirty and empty. We usually get plates to go and they are always good and fast. I really enjoy the grilled cheese plate as the grilled cheese is very cheesy and buttery. This definitely isn't the place to go if you're on a diet but they have amazing comfort food! The trash plates are decent but every time I get a plate, there's never any bread to go with it because they've run out. If you serve plates, you should serve bread and butter especially if you're charging the same price for the plates as other places. The dinning area is a mess and there are flys everywhere. Love their plates! Their garbage plates have no visible grease on the bottom when you're done eating -- which is so much better than places like Nick Tahou's. They also have great chicken fingers and italian sausage. The philly cheesesteak was only okay, I wouldn't order it again... but I am a cheesesteak snob :) Staff is friendly and always available. While in Rochester on business I asked my customer where to go to eat. They recommended this place and said "They have great garbage plates" HUH??...garbage plate?? This is a case of "Don't knock it until you try it." It was pretty much a straight shot from where I lived at school, so on those nights where your DD really didn't feel like waiting in the mile and a half long line at taco bell at about 230 am Henrietta Hots was a great alternative on the way back home. Greasy, filling, and not half bad. Plates aren't as good as Nick Tahou's. But they'll suffice. As a second year student opting to live off of campus at RIT this year, this place has always loomed in the background of the surrounding fast food areas and places to get grub for whenever during cram times at late hours. It's like a 2-5 minute drive from anywhere around RIT. Henrietta Hots has a solid white/red hots plate that I think topped my experience at Nick Tahou's hots. I've tried both of RIT's plates and they can't quite get it, although Crossroads opened my eyes to what onions can do for your plate. Another plate I've tried is from Jay's, but honestly Jay's in general isn't really that good... Service is quick and friendly, and it's pretty nice inside. There are some vending machines with a fairly diverse selection of drinks on top of what they offer at the fountain. The home fries are crispier than Nick's, and the meat sauce isn't overpowering. Good selection of extra sides and such, definitely worth a look. I recommend onions and mustard, or at least some kind of extra topping otherwise it's kinda bland. I went to RIT, so as with others, garbage plates are something you grow to love. We called it H-Hots and is the place to go in the early hours of the morning after parties or barhopping. RIT tries to make their own at Crossroads on campus but they don't even come close. That and they're not open anywhere near as late as H-Hots. Skip the bread on the side. You'll never get to it. I've had their chicken tenders... not the best. I'd advise skipping on those as they're not worth the $5. Stick with what H-Hots was created for: the garbage plate. I personally love the cheese burger plate, but a few of my friends get the hots* plate. It's not the most charming place, being located across from a vacant car sales lot, but the staff behind the counter do their job well. When you order they ask for your name and write it on the top of the styrofoam container that your meal comes in. I have a feeling this strategy was enlisted for when they get busy late at night. The hot I had was definitely NOT a Zweigles no where near the size and quality of the home town favorite. Burger was mediocre at best. Onion rings were tiny and the fries were not cooked long enough. I love this place. Service is always fast, but they do get busy at times. Great plates. Homey atmosphere. But if you have not had their Friday Fish Fries, go there This Friday! (after me of course) My wife gets the traditional cole slaw, but I order it with their mac salad and I shoot some hot sauce on it. Just wow, so good, and enormous. My friends and I were looking for a good spot for some late night food so we decided to Uber to Henrietta Hots because the website said they closed at 3. When we called on the way a man who called himself "the manager" told us they decided to close around 12 because it was "slow". After we questioned him on why he would close 3 hours early he told us "to fuck off" We then when to Jay's diner and had a marvelous experience. In my opinion this is the best bang for the buck when it comes to the famous Rochester's garbage plate. I ordered godfather plate which it comes with four choices of meat two eggs, meat sauce, home fries and macaroni salad. I went all in for cheeseburger for the choice of my four meat options. Cheeseburgers were decent juicy and delicious. Macaroni salad was also ok but lack of proper seasoning to my taste. Home fries and eggs were awesome too. The staff was very responsive and explained my options well. I waited around 5 minutes for the food to get ready while sometimes especially Friday nights it can get really busy and you may have to wait up to 20 minutes. The food portion will be enough for two normal people or one if you want to suicide. Also they are open till 4 a.m. So next time you can't go to sleep and craving oily delicious food get out of the bed and give it a shot.
