The rooms were the same except in my first stay I had a master suite and this time it was just a standard 2 room suite. Everything in the hotel was nice and clean. All the doors and counters and such were high quality. I'm starting to become a fan of AmericInn. I know a lot of people like their hotels to be different, but there is some sort of satisfaction about knowing what you are going to get when you walk into a hotel. I feel like I have this knowledge now with AmericInn. I ended up sleeping in so I missed the free breakfast so I can't really comment on that. The only real negative I have is that the elevator was sort of jenky and made some weird sounds. I enjoyed my stay here and I think I will have to start booking more stays at AmericInn. Spacious, extremely comfortable (heat and ac!, microwave, fridge! Cute outdoor seating!) There are new owners - a local couple - who are investing in the property and community. I love that. You can see the attention in the grounds (which they were actively working on while we were there). The couple is very sweet, beyond helpful and just added to that local, country charm. If we weren't breezing through on a cross country trip, I would want to stay longer - just to watch the sun sets and the sun rises. Stunning.

The restaurant itself is nicely decorated (feels like you are in an upscale cabin) with a few tables and some tables outside. They bring out bread to the table with olive oil and tomato puree, but my gripe is they brought 4 small slices of bread in a basket to our table of 4. We had to ask for more bread twice (once to soak up the sauce from the appetizers). They could definitely be more generous with the bread, but that is minor. For my appetizer I ordered the gnocchi (brown butter sauce with crispy prosciutto, sage and mushrooms) which was absolutely delicious, I just wish it was a slightly bigger portion. I know it is a starter, but I always want more than 6 or so gnocchi. The texture was perfect, pillowy and soaked up the sauce nicely. For my entree I ordered the beef medallions in a green peppercorn sauce with asparagus and potatoes au gratin. This dish was also divine (though I could have done with fewer peppercorns). The meat was cooked perfectly and was a nice sized portion (6 medium slices of steak). The asparagus and au gratin were very tasty and went well with the dish. Others had the halibut with farrow which they enjoyed, especially the tomato jam on top of the fish though I think the beef was the better of the two dishes. There were 4 desserts and 4 of us so we tried all four. There was a blood orange sorbet (way too sour for my liking), bananas foster cake, ice cream with fresh berries and a chocolate bread pudding. We enjoyed them all (others like the sorbet) and one in our group said the desserts were the best course. Overall we had a really nice meal and it is fairly good value for the quality and for being a 3 course menu. The only thing to improve here is the service. They only had 3 servers we saw and while our waitress was friendly, she seemed new and overwhelmed. We had to ask for out water to be refilled a few times, for more bread (we asked, it did not arrive and we had to ask again), and she did not come by our table often. She had forgotten a request to put a sauce on the side (no big deal) and we had to flag her down for the bill. Again not a huge detractor, but for an upscale restaurant you would expect more attentive service. All that said, the food was fantastic and I would recommend coming here for dinner.

Beware the limited menu (about 3-4 selections in each category) but that's a good sign, not a bad one, when it comes to a fairly small restaurant and the need to have fresh ingredients. The weather didn't permit us to eat outside, but I'm guessing it's even better when the patio is open. Lodge: the patio and main rooms are nice, the guest rooms were ok but for the price ($1500/night for us for two people) we found the furnishings and construction a bit cheap. The service was excellent and the people wonderful. But the price was high and -- most important -- the fishing was meh. Between two of us we caught maybe 10 trout in 3 days in June which is supposed to be a good month. I'd recommend the lodge for couples. For fishing buddies you might be better off -- and spend a lot less money -- at a more casual place.

This hotel costs as much if not more than others that do provide the basic daily services, so it's not about being more affordable because it's not more affordable. The beds are on the firmer side, not very cushy & the pillows are all really soft & not supportive. I do like that they have a separate room for showering & getting ready, while the toilet & another sink are in a separate room. Our room also has a fairly large closet so you don't have to move around the suitcases. The swimming pool & hot tub could be a bit cleaner. Literal clusters of hair getting stuck on you as you move in the pool. Other than that it's kind of just a standard place to stay. I do like that they still provide scriptures in each room like most all hotels used to. I also like that they have hot chocolate available in the lobby. Would be a lot better if they also provided some kind of creamer but not all hotels offer hot chocolate all day so I'll call that a win. Would be a step up if they also had cookies in the evenings like other places do. Staying at as many hotels as we do it's kind of a disappointment when you're at one that doesn't offer the fresh baked cookies in the evenings. Those little extras make a big difference.

We were told the hotel would be quiet since it was only 1/3 booked. However, we discovered that since this room was adjacent to the stairs it was noisy all night with people thumping up and down until 1:30 and again starting at 3:00 through 5:30. I talked to the desk manager about this following the first night and he offered a different room but since he said the hotel would certainly be quieter the upcoming night we opted not to go through the hassle of changing rooms. Well it was not quieter, if anything noisier, people thumping up and down the stairs until 2:00 in the morning and again starting at 3:45. I talked to the manager again after the second night suggesting perhaps they should comp one night of our stay. He refused to do so saying that he couldn't do anything since we had booked online and not directly through the hotel. The hotel personnel must know how noisy the rooms adjacent to the stairs are. I suggest that the stairs adjacent rooms should not be assigned until all other rooms are full, they are the worst rooms in the hotel. I sensed a prejudice towards customers who book online. I would never stay at this hotel again. One front desk employee was just plain rude when I came to discuss the noisy stairs after the second night. The desk manager guy was pleasant enough but displayed a prejudice toward customers who book through an online service.
