I was hesitant to walk into another Herb Chambers dealer as I have had poor experiences at Foreign Motors West, although MB of Boston was average many years ago. Went into look at a used 997. Spoke with an nice gentleman named Tim and first question I asked was if they would allow a PPI. He said he would check with his manager, who was out to lunch, to see if they would allow this. I did tell him that without a PPI, I would not consider buying a car. I decided to take a quick peak at the car which was parked in the back against a wall behind three other cars. I knew they had the car for well over a month and Tim told me it was put thru their shop and was in tip top shape. The glove box door was broken and dangling there. I started the car and and it rattled for a few minutes until it was warmed up. Not sure if it was heat shield or what. Once warmed up, the engine was ticking real loud, which I pointed out and questioned since it was put thru their shop. Oh that's just the engine, they all sound like that when they've been sitting. Uh huh....the others I looked at certainly did not sound like that. If you expect people to spend 50K on a used vehicle, at least make it somewhat presentable. Said he would get back to me about a PPI. Never heard back from anyone. Weird. That being said, if he actually did call back, I would have not spent the money to have it checked out. It was a heap. So, so extremely disappointed in the service I've received here for my porsche. I got in a car accident and had to get my car repaired...7 months later they tell me that it's ready to pick up. I go to pick it up, they tell me it's not there. The lady that works behind the desk was not helpful at all I come back next week and it's ready. The day after I bring it home it won't even start!! I've been trying constantly to get in contact with the dealership to get more service done on the car they didn't fix but they don't find the time to return my calls and the lady that answers the phone is rude. If you're looking to buy a car here, I recommend it. They were nice in selling me my car. If you're looking for maintenence or any help with your car, by all means find somewhere else to go. read more

I've had the same experience as Shivani, every time I go there I spend a lot of money and the car is never fixed properly. Time for a new mechanic. They just don't get the fact that when you spend that kind of money on a car you expect to be taken care of. Since there is no way to give negative stars... I had the worst experience with this dealer. In short, I put down a $3000 deposit in May '07 for a car and found out three months later NOTHING was done about it -- no order was placed with the car manufacturer, paperwork could not be located at the dealer and never mind knowing the status. However the accounting department had no problem verifying that $3000 was received. They must have thought it was a charitable donation. In the three months and over a couple phone calls, I was told that the order was placed and everything about allocation, build schedule, shipping/import lag time, etc. All very interesting stuff if I had wanted to be a car salesman, but I just wanted a car!!!! In my final visit to the dealer, it was "explained' to me that this whole mess could have been avoided if I had pick something from their inventory. Really?! Sleazy AF. I talked to them on the phone, told them exactly what I wanted and they said they could order it for me, no problem. So I went in on the weekend and was immediately told they discontinued the model I wanted and that I had to buy something they had on the lot. Then they pushed their 2018 models they wanted to get rid. I got up and left and went to another dealer where they were able to order exactly the car I wanted. They flat out lied to me. I understand they want to get rid of their 2018 inventory but they are not to be trusted. Stay away! read more

We prefer to custom order our Porsche's, although the in-stock selection is quite extensive and perusing the cars and SUVs is a great way to learn about the brand. Order time ranges from 2-1/2 to 6-months depending on particular vehicle demand. The order process is simple and quite fun, just build your vehicle on the porsche.com website, save the build, visit Rick Scourtas, Sales Manager at Herb Chambers Porsche of Boston, and put down a small deposit. Rick reassigned one of their allocations to us and altered the scheduled options to match our selections. He kept us aware of the progress, including the paint date, build date, transport ship, port arrival, and dealer delivery. I had been searching for the perfect pre-owned Porsche Boxster S literally across the country, as the 2009 cars seem to be harder to find even for a couple of months. I did a lot of research, so I always know exactly what I want. Like any car enthusiasts, we are a little more connected to the car buying experience so anytime it goes well - we love to share it. Finally, I found one at Herb Chambers Porsche with everything I wanted. S engine, PDK, Nav, xenons, etc. Most cars in my search were base with no options, but I was lucky to find this one. The price was excellent as well - there was not a better car in the entire country with the same options for anywhere near the price. I also timed my purchase in the middle of winter, as I knew I could perhaps get a better value. So now for the dealership experience - I bought it in Boston, and live in New Jersey. From the beginning, Larry and Shauni, and Ian were extremely helpful. Larry emailed me the recent maintenance history on the car, as well as answered any questions I had and was always a pleasure to speak with. I did the drive up from NJ to come and finalize everything - we did all of the paperwork, and once again everyone was very helpful. Shauni was also a pleasure to deal with, very polite and upbeat - made the experience great. My wife and I also got to enjoy Boston again, which was a plus. Since I was out of state, the car had to be registered in NJ before I could pick it up. After it was done, I made the trip again by train from NJ to come get it. I could have had it delivered, but I was not going to miss the opportunity to drive it all the way back home! Where this Porsche physical dealership itself falls short on room and those "extra"accommodations (though they are currently renovating), they make up for it in customer service. My salesperson Rolando was extremely professional and had a great attention to detail. Emails and phone calls were always returned promptly. I made a custom order and Rolando was extremely patient with me (given my anticipation for my first Porsche!) was extremely high. He seemed genuinely as excited as I was in getting the vehicle. I bought a used Range Rover sport back in August for $45,000. from Amir. he promised the car was inspected and up to date with all serves. after owning the car for one week I could not drive it do to a massive oil leak. I had to wait two weeks for an appointment at a range rover dealer. 2 months owning the car I had to put tires on the car. 6 months owning the car I had new belts installed. while doing the belt work they found a coolant leak and another oil leak. 8 months into owning this car the alternator went at 12:30 in the morning stranding me on the highway. while getting the Alternator fix they did an inspection of the car and notice the breaks were junk. I had to replace those too. I am sure that your mechanic noticed most of this. Other than the alternator this stuff doesn't happen overnight. I am not a happy customer and feel I was taken advantage of. I traded in a well taken care of up to date clean 2016 range rover that had no issues. In return, you sold me a car that was not clean or up to date on any of the serves. I text Amir with all my issues every time they occurred and not once did anyone reach out to me. The worst part of this whole thing is when i was buying the car i asked about the oil issue. i was told by Amir and the guy who does the financing that the car was looked over and it was fine. To whom this may concern, My name is Taylor Curtin, let me take a few minutes to inform anyone and everyone who is interested in why I had a hands down 5 star experience at Herb Chambers Porsche of Boston. I was looking for a specific vehicle, an Infiniti FX50 S. I saw on the Auto-trader App that Herb Chambers had a 2009 with just over 60k miles. I emailed the dealership via the Auto-trader App that night around 10:30 pm. To my surprise, Amir emailed me back no more than 10 minutes later. We proceeded to email several times discussing all the basic information on the car. The car was a trade in and they had it for 3 days now, there wasn't even pictures up on the website yet. So Amir offered to take down my phone number and send me some picture messages of the car the next morning. I was thrilled with what I saw. I called Amir on that Monday morning and asked him if I could come in later during the week for a test drive. He informed me that the sooner the better because many people have made inquiries about the vehicle. I knew this wasn't just a sales tactic because not only had Amir been completely sincere thus far, he knew all the juicy stats about the vehicle. This meant a lot to me because I consider myself a slight car enthusiast and he knew exactly what this beautiful machine really is. Not to mention this was the only FX50 S within 200 miles, there was not another one in Massachusetts. So I scheduled a test drive for the next day, Tuesday. I left work early from West Hartford, CT, to go to my bank in Chicopee, MA. To put some funds in my checking account just in case I was going to put a down payment. Due to traffic, I did not reach the dealership on 1172 Commonwealth Ave in Boston until around 7:00pm. Amir usually clocks out at 6:30pm, but he really wanted to be the one to give me the test drive since we had already established such a wonderful relationship from our previous discussions of the vehicle. When I arrived at the dealer I only waited a few minutes and Amir came over to me introduced himself, gave me a nice firm handshake and offered me some coffee and other accommodations while he went to get the car. The car was everything i thought it was going to be. I could not stop smiling driving it, and we got back and I said let's do it. I put the deposit and negotiated the financing terms with my bank, USAA. Although the price was non-negotiable, Amir told me that they have possibly the most aggressive pricing around. When I asked my insurance company adjuster at USAA about that, they looked up the Black Book Value and told me that he vehicle was actually listed Lower than that sources retail value. And to buy it. So I finalized everything on the financial end and USAA sent the check to Herb Chambers. Then, just as Amir said, he would get the car registered with plates and have me drive it off the lot the next time I came in. I picked up the car 4 days later. I dropped off my rental at the enterprise down the street and Amir picked me up in a Porsche Cayenne :). This was only my 3rd used car purchase. But, I am a US Army Veteran and surely a tough customer. To this day, 3 weeks later, Amir still keeps in touch with me, asking if everything is satisfactory with the car. I truly could not have asked for a better experience buying a used car. At first I was slightly timid, being a 25 year old walking into a Porsche dealership in dirty roofing clothes. But, Amir made me feel more than welcomed. Not only will I recommend this Dealership to every single soul I meet, I will positively be back to get my next vehicle from Amir. These reviews worry me mightily. I am planning to buy a pre-own Porsche from Herb Chambers Porsche. A used car will need a competent machanic to inspect it to find the hidden safety and mechanical problems. The majority of the reviewers view Herb Chambers mechanics are less than competent; and I am no mechanic to determine if I am buying a lemon or not. I am now left with a feeling that I will be on my own dealing with a "slick" car dealership. The review on a car that was advertised as thoroughly inspected, and the buyer can see problems in plain sight easily, leads me to believe that the dealer is less than honest, like many other low-rent dealerships. Very unfortunate! I believe Herb Chambers is sincere in his youtube video on making sure his customer is OK with his pre-own cars. The problem seems to come from the dealer's inability to execute to Herb's vision. I went to herb chambers Porsche of Boston to look at cayenne SUV. I met Fahad Arshad (GM sales). I have to tell you, this guy was awesome. He was very open in answering my question. Nothing to hide, he told me all difference a bmw driver will feel when he goes for Porsche. What technology is not in Porsche and what is there in Porsche which is not in bmw( i have bmw x5). He also consulted his technician to answer question related to engine etc. i was not very sure to go with Porsche but my interaction with him made me feel like i should go with Porsche. This dealership is awful in every way: (A) They NEVER have a loaner-literally not once in 4 years, (B) The majority of the times the car is serviced it comes back with additional issues it didn't have when it got there, (C) Management is incompetent and dishonest. Every time I go here, there is a new clueless "General Manager". This new guy, Ian, kept changing his story about whether he was or wasn't the GM last time I was here, then proceeded to lie to me multiple times. First he said he had been there 14 years, then, oops, 4 months when I called him out. Heard him telling this poor couple who told him they didn't know anything about porsches, how GREAT 21 inch rims handle in the snow-such a sleaze ball. The worst Porsche service dept. I've been to. They rarely have loaner cars....when there is one available, it's a beat-up Cayenne that's filthy. They are always trying to upsell for shit you don't need. They really don't know much about Porsches (at least at the service desk- I'm sure the mechanics are decent). Several months ago I decided I wanted a new 991.2 GT3 with a manual gear box. I contacted Herb Chambers. Fahad - the General Manager paired me up with Amir to try to help me out. Well, I recently had to have several thousands of dollars of work done on my 911. The car is aging, past it's warranty and yes, it's a Porsche 911 - if you complain about the cost of repairs and maintenance - it's like buying a cupcake and complaining it has too many calories. Get a grip people - it's not a Honda Civic. Anyway - do yourselves a favor - be nice to the service advisor, bring a cup of coffee for the tech and a donut. These people get treated like crap by the majority of the people that come there because most Porsche owners think that it's their god given right to treat the svc people like serfs. Anyway a little bit of cooperation and kindness can go a long way - I always get a free loaner, and 10% off parts and such - makes $300 to $400 difference in the bill. I thought about going to an independent Porsche mechanic - but frankly these guys aren't much more expensive, and they will stand by their work. read more

Pros: * The sales representative, Jake Hare, was very responsive to e-mails and phone calls. * The purchase went smoothly and quick. It started with a 30 minute chat about the car, then a short test drive, followed by 40 minutes negotiations. The whole purchase was done within 90 minutes (so I thought; see below). Cons: * Although I had scheduled a test drive and the dealership knew I was coming, the car was not cleaned. The interior had coffee stains etc. * Although the actual car purchase was smooth (see above), what followed afterwards was annoying. After I had already signed all the required paperwork for buying the car, I had to spend another 2 hours at the dealership. The time was filled with various meetings with various people trying to sell additional warranties, products, upgrades etc etc etc in addition to asking me to sign various additional documents and even some of the same documents that I had already signed during the purchase agreement. In between those one-on-one meetings there was typically idle times of 15-20 minutes. I rather would have spent those 2 hours celebrating my new car or calling my insurance company. In fact, due to wasting time at the dealership I had to postpone the call with insurance for a day, which ultimately resulted in a 3 day delay of picking up the car. * This was a certified pre-owned car. When I picked it up it had significant damage at one of the rims. I hadn't picked it up when I test drove the car. On the plus side, Herb Chambers agreed to fix it for free. On the con side, if they do this out of courtesy, why not doing it before selling the car. * The car was washed when I picked it up. Just as a minor comment: I bought 2 BMWs before. When those cars were washed at BMW, they were spotless. In comparison, the Porsche wash was a bit sloppy (no washing underneath the rear wing; no cleaning within interior compartments). This is no big deal but small details sometimes count as well. read more

I had my '99 Porsche boxer serviced in June, 2016. I was charged $4259. for services that were not requested. The car is not even worth that amount. I have been trying to resolve this with Joseph Rondinelli, the service manager, but he has ignored my emails and phone calls. Very unprofessional. I will have to take this to small claims court.
