BUT.......I went in there for the rare (to me) mani and to get my eyebrows cleaned up for Christmas. The mani was just to clean up my cuticles & then I was going to put some nails on. Atleast that was the plan. When I sat down he asked me about a color & I explained that I just wanted clear. He said "oh no red?" I decided to give this place a try again. Mistake. Did a pedicure on Sunday with my husband. I asked for white polish, and with that color it's important that the nails are filed evenly or it looks messy/sloppy. I had to ask the technician to correct two toes - which I thought was strange because she could clearly see that the ends were jagged. White polish will make that clear pretty quickly ...but I didn't think it was earth shattering - "hey, can you re-file these two nail so that they look even?" My husband and I tipped $20 to each technician. The pedicures were about $60 each I came back two days later to ask for help with one of my fingernails that seemed to be breaking at the base. If I cut the nail off, it would have been at the point where it would bleed and be very painful for weeks. I don't use gel or anything on my nails. I just use nail polish. This detail will become important later The gentleman in the front asked to see the nail. He then told me the wait was 30 minutes for me but 15 minutes for another lady who came in after me. Maybe she had an appointment ...I don't know. I asked about that, and was given a look like "how dare you ask" from that lady and a weird answer from the gentleman, which I accepted. (I can also share that a nail technician who used to work there told me privately that they treat certain customers differently at this place) I left because I could not wait 30 minutes. I returned the next day after making an appointment online. I provided the info that I needed help with my fingernail as described above in the note area of the appointment box. I specifically said which finger it was, and what the issue was in the appointment box. I arrived promptly at the time of my appointment. My understanding is that the purpose of an appointment is to meet with the person you have an appointment with and get started on the service - but that's not what happened Immediately upon my arrival, the gentleman in the front started launching a series of questions at me as he's doing somebody else's nails. He asked me to see the nail even though he saw it the previous day. Keep in mind that he was doing someone else's nails and I felt like I wouldn't want this happening while my nails are being done and I wouldn't want someone approaching the area where I am to show one of their nails. It made me very uncomfortable but I showed him the nail again The next question he asked is how do I want it fixed. My answer was "I don't know because I don't do anything to my nails other than polish them. I'm going to trust the technician that I made the appointment with to advise me." I had to say that three times. The lady who he was servicing was looking at my nail too, so I ask her if she had an opinion because the last time I even thought about having a manicure, the technique was some sort of nail tip (that was a long time ago). She said that it would probably be gel Next, he started talking about cost. I should've already been with the person that I made the appointment with. We could've literally been starting on the service. I responded that I didn't care about the cost and that I would like to see the person that I made the appointment with so we can get started. I needed to get back home Once the repair was done, the technician looked at the rest of my nails and found that the same thing may be happening to another nail and preemptively reinforced that one too, which I thought was nice. The cost was $30 and I gave him a $10 tip After I paid, he let me know that "no one in the salon was comfortable doing my pedicures, because I gave the pedicure technician a hard time" and that if I want my pedicures done, I should make an appointment with him This is disappointing. I prefer to spend my money in the community. It just seems like whenever we get pedicure and manicure service providers in the King George area, there's a lack of professionalism. My next comment doesn't only apply to the shop at every shop of this kind I have visited here. When you are getting a service ...having flies around you, having the technicians talking loudly to each other and pausing to look around while they are doing the foot massage (that's not relaxing), not honoring appointments, treating certain customers differently than others... it's all part of the landscape here in King George and it's really disappointing The other thing that I noticed is that they reuse the emory boards between customers and they store the used emory boards in drawers. Dark areas are perfect for fungus to grow. Emory boards do not cost a lot (e.g., pack of 144 for 8 dollars on Amazon) and doing this is unsanitary and unsafe for the customers. I am appalled considering the fact that this business is Asian owned yet the owner of this salon hold such racist, ignorant, discriminatory ideology. I've been getting my nails done for over 20 years and I can safely say An is by far the best nail tech I have ever been to. She is very detailed and brilliant when it comes to designs. I've never had issues with acrylic lifting or anything and she knows how to shape a nail to perfection! It was supposed to be a fun experience for the 2 of us and instead I was judged harshly by the staff with comments about how she is "too young". I didn't ask for unsolicited advice and the last time I checked, she came from my body and not theirs, so I am one who can decide when she is old enough to get her nails painted. Additionally, I did not receive the service I asked for. I asked for the pink dip powder to be removed and to have white gel polish applied. He decided to just paint over the pink with white and thought that was acceptable. His excuse was that I didn't make an appointment and he was busy. Tonight was the last time I will ever step foot in this salon. I called ahead for a gel pedi and eyebrow clean up. I sat in the chair, even though they usually have me use the table. I told the man I only wanted clean up. He says ok, then tells me I have thick eyebrows. I say thank you, as I'm taking it as a compliment. He unfortunately then started the waxing. He finishes waxing my eyebrows, and then says to look at them in the mirror. I damn near burst into tears upon the sight of my eyebrows. He didn't do a clean up he did a purge. Nothing is left except pencil thin brows. I can't even look at myself due to how horrible they are, otherwise I'd add a photo to this review. There's also wax in my HAIRLINE. I tell him they're too thin and his response was that I didn't say I wanted clean up. Then he says, and I quote, "The black girls usually like them like that." Plus some stuttering. I started crying at this point out of disbelief and disgust at my experience. He stated that I wouldn't have to pay as I was already leaving. I've been here multiple times for these 2 services specifically usually as a last resort since the location is convenient and never had any real issues. But tonight left me traumatized and beyond disappointed. There is another review that highlights the issue of racism in this establishment. I deeply and painfully wish I'd seen it before tonight. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR CHARGES & TOTAL DUE. My granddaughter and I made our first and last appointments for basic manicure and pedicure. Throughout the treatments the only question asked was "What type pedicure do you want?" Clearly we understood and clearly our response seemed understood and repeated. Because it was her birthday, i let my granddaughter get a set of acrylic fingernails instead of the manicure. She told me later she got gel polish on her fingers. Fine. I got a basic with clear polish on my fingers... orange on my toes. There was nothing special done. At checkout i was told my total was nearly $200. I was shocked but paid not making a scene of course and requested a receipt, which said manicure upgrade & pedicure upgrade. When I got home I looked up their prices online. What a major difference. Separately basic manicure is $25 & pedicure is $35. But there is a combination "basic mani & pedi listed at $45. The acrylic nails p&white full set are listed at $61. My math equals $45 for basic mani pedi combo + $35 basic pedi for grand daughter $61 nails for my grand daughter $141 total - i did not authorize a tip to be charged ... i always give cash as tip. But gave none this day because of this overcharge. I was charged $190.50 They did a nice job yes and I should have questioned it. I agree. But i shouldnt have to. $50 over charge should have been obvious to the manager who served us. read more

My experience at this location was a nightmare. First, the man who did my pedicure didn't clip my nails properly, and rushed my pedicure. My pedicure lasted about 10 minutes. My pedicure looked bad. The total charge for my pedicure was going to be $55. I complained to the owner who agreed the job was not done well. The owner also volunteered to redo my pedicure after completing my manicure. While working on my manicure the owner continued stepping away from the table to attend other customers who also had complaints about the customer service being provided to them. Then, while shaping my nails, The owner became sarcastic with me just because I wanted to verify he understood how I want my nails shaped. After clarifying to the owner how I wanted my nails to be painted, he refused to paint my nails the way I wanted it because he said no one would be able to see the color. Even though he was going against my request, I allowed for the owner to paint my nails the way he wanted. After the first coat of paint I verified the nail polish color was blue because it seemed more purple to me. Once the owner told me the color was not blue, I apprised him of me wanting my nails to be painted blue. The owner then got very upset and threw the nail color display book at ME, not at the table, at ME! He then said, "when you know what color you want you let me know", before storming off to attend another customer. At that point I was very upset because the display book hit me. It's hard plastic and from the angle he was standing, it hit my hand hard. I got upset and attempted to remove myself from the situation because I am a disabled Veteran who struggles with anxiety and PTSD. I didn't want to lose my temper or create a scene. Not only was my pedicure improperly done, but I was assaulted with the nail color display book. While attempting to gather my things, the owner approached me and acted as if he did nothing wrong. When I explain to him what he did and how upset it made me for him to throw the color display book at me his response was, "so what you want to call the cops on me?" I even demanded for him to look at the camera footage because where I was sitting, the cameras were able to catch what happened. Because I also hold a law enforcement background, I took it upon myself to call the authorities. When the police officer arrived I explained my side of the story. The man who messed up my pedicure got in my face and started yelling at me. The police officer requested for him to move himself away from me. the man then told the officer that I was only unhappy because I didn't have my calluses removed. He also told the police officer that I was trying to run out so that I didn't have to pay my bill. I made it clear to the officer that I was not trying to run out on my bill, but that I was very upset because I was assaulted by the owner. The police officer inquired with the owner on what he wanted to do to settle the dispute so that the customers can return to their day without having to witness what was going on. The owner requested for me to pay the $55 for my pedicure. After showing the police officer what my complaint was with my pedicure, i agreed to only pay the base pay because my pedicure was not done properly. The owner agreed and we settled with me paying $30. The owner then tried being nice to me, telling me to have a good day. As I turned to leave the establishment the man once again approached me aggressively, attempting to clip my nails. He told the police officer that my nails needed to be clipped because they completed my manicure. Not only was my manicure not completed, but the audacity of this young man to attempt to put his hands on me after the owner had already threw something at me. At that point the police officer not only requested for the young man to calm down and lower his voice but ordered him not to put his hands on me. Another customer had to intervene and say, "no they settled on $30, that's it." The police officer then escorted me outside, apologized to me for the situation, and even added that many complaints have come from customers coming to this establishment. The officer then inquired if I wanted to file charges against the owner for assault. I told him that I was not going to file charges because I was on my way to New York for a wedding and did not have the time. The weather was already very bad. I did however apprise him of me never returning to this establishment again and that I was going to write a review on them. Regardless of the difference in culture you do not mistreat your customers nor do you take it upon yourself to disrespect them in any way. It was not OK, what was done to me. I will never return to that establishment again nor do I recommend anybody entering that establishment. read more

I stopped in to Herbal nails last night at 6:30 pm as I was traveling home to visit my family. The place was very clean and welcoming from the start. I was greeted by not one but two technicians. They were playing gospel music and they even asked if the music was ok for me. Never had that happen before. I got a polish change on my toes and a fill in with gel polish. Everything went well until I got to the register to pay and she said $45. I said I got a fill on not a full set. She stated $10 for polish change, $25 for fill and $10 for gel polish. I could have easily gotten this same service back home (which is across the bridge) for $28.
