This place is disgusting in every way. The customer service here sucks, being that it is family owned no one cares. The way they answer phone calls, take forever to wait customers ,and how they handle food is terrible. Herbie's don't deserve one star. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone read more

My wife and I took our son this morning for breakfast. For the price you cannot beat the food there. I got the French toast which was delicious, and my wife got the pancakes which were very good, too. My son enjoyed the bacon most of all. It's been a while since I had been there, but just as good as before. We will definitely be back! read more

This Saturday my wife and I were on the lookout for a good breakfast restaurant in Greensboro and decided to give Herbie's a go. It's a great dinner! The sausages were wonderful and so was the omelet and french toast. Every thing was cooked just right. Breakfast was served quickly with a smile by an apparently happy wait and cook staff. Okay, so I love a good diner! Huge fan of a great dive! That being said this is NOT one of them. The coffee was horrible. The silverware had a strange film on it. The grits tasted like they were cooked in dish water and I'm not sure what was happening with the sausage. We stopped in here for breakfast about a month ago on a day trip to Greensboro with a restaurant.com cert (good way to try out new places) and definitely will be coming back. Place was still very busy at 9:30 am when most folks are at work = good sign that grub is good. Wife had eggs and hashbrowns scattered-all-the-way and I had their corned beef hash, eggs and grits. Corned beef hash was good (hard to screw up eggs over easy or grits). Tasted wifey's scattered hashbrowns. Wow! Excellent - getting that next trip when we are back. Atmosphere great like any good diner you would find on Rt 9 in New jersey (but with Southern sensibility and no Jersey attitude) and friendly staff. I was reading a lot of subpar rating about this place so I was skeptical going in. However, my experience was extremely pleasing today! Herbie's Place is a nice, mom and pop diner, with good food, and great service! I went in, and was taken care of within minutes as they were pretty busy! One waitress, a brunette, gave me a menu, another waitress with blonde hair got my drink, and another waitress who also had blonde hair, but had it ties up in a ponytail, took my order! It was kind of like Round Robin, but I never complained as my drink was ALWAYS filled without asking, and my food came out before I could blink I swear! I got the "Ultimate Breakfast which came with 2 eggs, 2 sausage links, 2 strips of bacon, a sausage patty, hashbrowns, and two pieces of toast. I also got me some French toast since I was super hungry! Everything was delicious and I had no complaints about ANYTHING! The hashbrown were really crispy which I like, and the sausage patty was hot, which I loved as well since it seems like most places don't use hot sausage like they used to these days. I even got a to-go cup once the waitresses had noticed I was finished eating. This place was AMAZING! I don't know if it's other waitresses that work there on a different shift that got this place some poor ratings or what, but my experience was fantastic! They are very busy so I know they have a lot of regulars. That being said, they don't use butter or real cheese (I'm sure it's cheese processed food). Then we found a hair in the food and told our waitress and all she did was say it was gross and made a face when taking the plate! Nothing else done about it! Just left this place and was not satisfied at all. Waitresses we unpleasant and ignored customers. Food was just ok. We were there for breakfast and they served us a small hockey puck that we later figured out was a sausage patty. The coffee was whimpy but at least it was hot. I know I won't go back. read more

This place is adorable, what a cool idea for a restaurant. Only had to wait a few minutes for a table, as it always seems to be packed. Service was lightning fast and mmmm were the pancakes delicious! There's a walking/running trail behind the restaurant which makes you feel super fat and happy as you watch them torture themselves while you're stuffing your face. Would definitely come back, really cheap specials and the food was great! read more

Is there anything less a single star because I don't want to give this dump a star period. Customer service horrendous, communication with customers, totally non existent. I've been here numerous times before but this time the vibe and atmosphere was totally different. Servers were not organized, customers waiting on to go orders hadn't received food for at least 30 minutes and when one customer approached to ask about his order he was totally disregarded and dismissed, meanwhile I hadn't even been acknowledged by anyone no said a word. It got so bad that the cook had to point out that I was waiting and even then the waitress said to her rudely that she was busy and to wait a minute. I was totally turned off at this point plus I saw the amount of tickets that had not yet even been served for both those wanting to take out and dine in. So me and those with me headed to the nearest exit and I will not be returning but I will find comfort at Smith St Diner real handmade quality food. read more

HORRIBLE! Was my first and last time there. Management is especially horrible. They messed up on my order & prices and charged my card the wrong price. The young lady refused to fix in when I was there and told me to call back tomorrow to talk to the owner . Herbie's is a tried and true diner. The pancakes are delicious and the staff is friendly. I have fun watching the regulars interact with the waitresses. In the arena of diners, the food was very slightly above average. However the service was very poor. Specifically, with the exception of one server and the bus boy, the staff all seemed very angry and annoyed. This created a tense environment to dine in which took away from the entire diner dining experience. If the food is amazing, you can tolerate poor service or disgruntled staff, sadly this is not the case with Herbie's Place, poor service and slightly above average dishes. read more

I go here far more often than I would care to admit, but not because I haven't tried all the other competitors within a few miles. It easily beats the rest. The bacon is some of the best in town, the service almost obsessively attentive (contrary to what some reviewers have written), and the values very obvious. And their lunch and dinner items are superb, though most people don't seem to know about that, since those times are invariably much less crowded. Think burgers and chicken wings. Sausage patties and links are just OK. What is most amazing is that they have had the same crew of waitresses and cooks for quite a few years now, a very good sign. And the cooks are incredibly fast, accurate, and almost balletic in getting everything exactly right quickly, even during the busiest times. They will even bring your hot food out to you if the waitresses don't dish it out in time. For smokers, now banned, they have mercifully provided picnic benches outside. The highest recommendation, if you don't mind the sometimes noisy atmosphere, dated decor, and lack of feng shui. And no it's not tor the clean freaks. This is what a diner is about! read more

I haven't been to greensboro in years, and boy am I glad I stopped in here. There are two great things about this place. The first is the atmosphere. The staff really makes you feel welcomed, they are friendly and they know when to leave you alone or check in on you. The second is the prices. You really can't beat some of their deals. I have been a couple of times for lunch, but they also serve breakfast. Easily the best place to go eat,for both food and prices;also its open 24 hours a day. The moment one walks in one can choose there table and a waitress ask what one want to drinks. Brings the drinks on time, and also helps recommend items on the menu.The burgers are the one of the best in Greensboro, and fill up the rest of the plate with fries. Even if its restaurant is full the the food come in a timely matter. The service there easily beats other competitors. The one thing they need to improve in is the restrooms. read more

Great small diner in Greensboro! I've always been a fan of diners and this one is great. I love old-style diners that still bring you back in time. The service is always great and quick. Sometimes there is a wait but we've never waited for more than 10-15 minutes on a busy weekend morning. In 2017 this place is a dump! Waited 10 minutes no waitress acknowledgement! Floor filthy and tables dirty! Yes a diner but eating around sour mop water and dirt not my cup of tea.
