Combined with the sides, it was a belly full. Also in the menus was an 8 oz ribeye for...brace yourself...$16.99!!!! Now let me talk about the service. Demarcus, our server was incredibly attentive to our needs. So much so that we left her a +50% tip. If I lived nearby they would know me by name. Heck, they might even put my name on the wall for being so regular. Each time I've been here, the food has been consistently delicious. On our most recent visit with family, I ordered the Reuben with chips, and I can honestly say it was the best Reuben I've ever had. No exaggeration. For those of you that love breakfast food... it's available all day! Everyone at the table loved their meals, and the service Jasmine provided truly stood out. She was attentive, kind, and made the whole experience even better. We've been to this restaurant multiple times and taken friends and family. We have always recommended because of the food and service. However tonight was a different story. My wife and I ordered and the food came out quickly. What I ordered was good however the flounder sandwich my wife ordered was a different matter. The flounder was greasy and mushy with no texture. My wife using her fork showed me and then spoke with a waitress who stated that "you've already started eating it" with an attitude, but she would get her another piece of flounder. When the second piece came it was the same as the first. At that point we went to checkout and I inquired about them taking her meal off the ticket because she couldn't eat it. They said because their manager prepared another piece they had to charge us for it. We told them we would never return or recommend and I paid for a meal that my wife didn't eat. just became my favorite restaurant. I was looking for somewhere to take care of my hangover lol so I decided to give it a shot. The parking lot was packed . Well, can't comment on food since I left. But I can tell you that the service (at least on this day), was totally absent. I walked in and sat down as directed by the signage up front. So, I sat there and sat there and sat there. I saw one server on the floor. Taking orders and cleaning tables. Cleaning tables for possible future patrons while existing patrons there were ignored. Well, I understand being busy. But this was obviously not true case. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was less than half full.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now, I should mention that there were two girls in server outfits standing by the soda machine talking and DOING NOTHING! There was another lady behind the counter. Who knows what she was doing, but it wasn't cleaning tables or taking care of customers. So I finally just got up and left. It comes with cinnamon and powdered sugar but we opted not to get that. Veggie omelette, biscuit and hash brown (crispy) and early bird special #1 were also good. My first time visiting Max's. Generally when I pass this location, the parking lot is full. I got to the counter at 7:50pm, was planning to go somewhere else once I realized they closed at 8pm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I could see employees cleaning around the kitchen and dining areas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The owner, working in the kitchen, over heard my conversation at the counter, and insisted that I order. So I did, and went with the spaghetti special ($10.99). [[HIGHLIGHT]]As I waited for my "to-go" order, I noticed the dining area was very clean and brightly lit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I received my order by 8pm and was out the door. This place was formerly Captain's Table Thomasville. Decided on lunch here but some of the others more familiar, said that their breakfast is really good too. I chose a 4 side item plate with green beans, okra, pintos and fries. Those pintos were the best I've tasted in a long time. I didn't have to pick out pieces of meat the entire time either. The fries looked like they were double fried and were nice and crisp as was the okra-piping hot! The cornbread was good too! The ladies were really nice and were hardworking on the go constantly. So when a stranger paid for my lunch, I just had to pay it forward to the waitress. I'll be back to try the breakfast soon. read more

I hope this place doesn't change. They have been open only 6 days but it is done in excellence. The food, which I have pictured 5 different plates were all fixed to perfection. The omelettes were the best I've ever had and I've had a lot. The only miss was my 7 year old was still hungry after his kids plate. 3 pieces of chicken would have been better but that could be just my son so I didn't take anything off for that. As I said it's new so the decor was nice. The floor looked slick and it was raining so I was concerned but it was just the look and wasn't slick at all. It's a beautiful place and they have the tables spaced far enough apart that it's not crowded. The service was great and the staff seemed to stay busy with no standing around. They have the best food. It has the biggest variety at any restaurant in thomasville. So I visited Max's tonight for the first time. The restaurant appeared clean. Waitress took out order, and food came out fairly quick. I had the Country Fried Steak, baked potatoe, and cabbage. It was pretty good. The wife had the mushroom Swiss burger with hot chips. The hot chips were good, and the ranch was good, but the burger was just a dry frozen patty. I don't understand restaurants that serve frozen burgers when a good fresh hamburger is so easy to make. I would have liked to have had some more butter for my baked potatoe, but the server never came back after taking our order. I'll try them again sometime, but I don't recommend the burger. Dairy-O burgers are 10 times better. read more
