Yummy yummy! If I could give this place 4.5 stars I would. Service was great. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Overall the food was delish. Chicken was well seasoned and. Baked beans were tasty. I'm not a pork eater and beans are made with pork sausage. I ordered the chicken plate with Mac and baked beans. The Mac was plain. Which is why they aren't at 5 stars. It was literally macaroni and cheese. Lol. I didn't taste any seasoning and it was nothing special. My boyfriend ordered the rib plate. The ribs are also pork. They were falling off the bone! Tender juicy and well seasoned. I love that you can see them actually doing the grilling outside, so you know for sure it's fresh. I also that giving out free samples is a nice touch. I was a first timer and it definitely is a nice gesture. We will definitely be back. Overall they are missing the other star because Mac n cheese was plain... The first time we ate at Herb's the BBQ was delicious. Today it was terrible. EVERYTHING was extremely spicy! It was impossible to enjoy. I know some people enjoy spicy bbq sauce, but to season everything with red pepper flakes ruined the bbq. Spicy ribs, spicy chicken, spicy sausage, spicy corn, and spicy greens. I like spicy food, but not spicy bbq. Spent $76 on a dinner we couldn't enjoy. Oh, and Josh the cashier needs lessons in customer service. This is about my 10th time ordering thru ubereats. They're great every time. Most consistent restaurant I've ordered from in the area by far. I tried a few bbq and rib restaurants in the area and they either forget items, taste different depending on the day, etc. Herbs is straight forward and delicious every time. The flavor of the ribs is good. Really smoky. Service is super fast. You also get a ton of meat. We got a half rack and a full rack and the order filled 3 to-go boxes. It took days to eat all the ribs. The ribs are fatty, that's just the nature of the type of ribs they are. They are tender but not fall off the bone. The ladies inside don't know BBQ. We asked what kinds of sauce they had. They said a sweet sauce. My husband asked, "like a Kansas City sauce?" And the lady said, "no. It's made here." That's not a reason for the 3 stars, but I thought it was funny. They don't have other sauce options. As someone who loves sauces, this was disappointing. Based on the other reviews, we just made our own sides. So the ribs are fine. Good flavor and good portion. But not as tender as I would like, fattier than I prefer, and no real sauce options. Herb's is the best BBQ place in Smyrna, y'all. You'll recognize them by the smoker out front, and you'll be sad if they close early for the holidays and you have to go to a Plan B BBQ joint. True story: the staff closed early on Christmas Eve (completely understandable), and I bumped into two other possible patrons while I was trying to find out if I could get some barbecue there or not. One of them, a lady, was very obviously put out and I told her she could just get barbecue from another place, right? With a little bit of a pout, she said, "but this is the best place for barbecue!" We love the ribs and pulled pork and the peach cobbler if they haven't run out yet. Great food that tastes as good as it smells! The chicken is perfection, the sauce is the perfect balance of sweet and spice, the sausages were plump and the sides were superb! I have driven past this place 100 times and always said the same thing it smells soo good! Today I decided to try. After parking I walked in And immediately was offered a sample of ribs. I don't eat pork and had to pass but it looked great. Ordered the chicken plate and beef sausage plate with potato salad, slaw, corn, Mac and cheese go get a sample. And WOW everything is ridiculously good. The chicken is bbq perfect with skin that is perfection. The sausages won over my family to the point I thought I would have to run out for more mid meal! Over the top greatness. We ordered a half rack of ribs and some mac-n-cheese. The ribs were to die for. Perfect amount of chewing the meat off the bone. The smoky taste was outstanding and the homemade bbq sauce only enhanced the taste of the already excellent ribs. You know it's going to be good when they give you a sample. Herbs Rib Shack is a step into a new dimension. Herb has captured a moment in time and took us back when rib shacks were really getting busy putting a menu together that is tasteful and delectable to one's pallet! The first time I saw this business I was headed east on the highway when I saw a cloud of smoke. This was a HUGE cloud of smoke with all the herbs and spices mixed in the arena. There was a silhouette of a man standing about 6' - 4" like he was the ascending from the sky. It was just in that moment in time that I knew it was something different about this restaurant. So the next week I pulled up. Because they only open on Thursday - Sunday, the day I pulled up they were closed. The owner Herb was there restocking his inventory. He came out and greeted me and gave me a menu and the hours of operation. He smiled and said that I would like the food that is served. I came back on a 3rd visit and was not disappointed. It was beyond my thoughts. The meat is seasoned perfectly. The offer a variety of food from chicken, ribs beef or pork and pork sausage. The portions our plentiful, there is no skimping on value or flavor. Prices are moderately decent. The food I ordered was subject to falling off of the bone. You could see how well seasoned the herbs and spices were sticking to the container as the juices seeped through my fingers. While waiting in line to order the staff came out and offered free samples while ordering and while waiting! This place reminded me of growing up in the Fillmore district in San Francisco and getting some real down home bar-b-que. The only thing that was not offered that is rare to find is spaghetti - back in the day these places we would frequent as a family would serve spaghetti on the menu that complimented the food sold, the secret was they added a lil BBQ sauce to the spaghetti and the flavor was on point! Though there isn't a ton of seating inside, their ambience is welcoming and EVERY staff member has a smile. There are free samples almost the minute you walk in without even asking. Being from the Midwest, we love rib tips. We haven't been able to find a spot in GA that serves tips until we found Herb's. As soon as we walked in the door, we were offered samples. The tips were so good you don't even need sauce. They were perfectly smoked and seasoned. We ordered a full slab which included 14 bones and 28 tips (it seemed like a lot more). We got baked beans and potato salad as the sides. They were the best partner for the ribs. There was a lady on the side selling cakes and pies. My wife got a piece of lemon pound cake, regular pound cake and sweet potato pie. She enjoyed all of them. I'm not a tea drinker but the peach and mango teas tasted just like juice.
