Amish churned butter, cheese curds, birch beer..... Heard about this place from a friend and I knew I had to get my hands on some REAL amish churned butter because....YUM. You walk in and your nostrils are filled with the aroma of freshly baked cinnamon rolls and other assorted baked goods. It smells simply delectable. They have authentic whoopie pies, jams.....Oh my goodness, if you can think of something that you would like from rural PA.....this store has it. Back to the butter. This stuff is so creamy and delicious. Like you can still slice through it with a butter knife and it will never be rock hard from the fridge. That's just how real butter is. So sad that I have lived here most of my life, and this is the FIRST time I have ever been here. I have been missing out! It smells sooo good when you walk in! Such great organic as well as handmade goodies. Went hunting and I found a super yummy garlic cream cheese spread. Tasted their famous cinnamon rolls, bought a small peach pie and a pack of caramel cinnamon rolls. Oh, and wheat bread! You are also able to get deli meats and cheese while you are there and different baking supplies, candies. My goodness, what they pack in a such a small area! There is the amish furniture in the back which is cool to look at, but I admit, I was there for the food! Everything was super yummy. You know it's homemade bread when you can smell the yeast in the bread. The pie was good, not overly sweet, but I think that's what I liked about it. And the cinnamon rolls. Very, very good. Was turned onto this bakery from one of our friends this last Christmas and realized what we have been missing out on! EVERYTHING they bake is absolutely amazing - especially our family favorite the Amish Friendship Bread! But we have tried their cookies, pies, danish, etc and it is ALL incredible! And the customer service is beyond perfect! They also have a small restaurant/coffee shop which we love going to because it's very fairly priced and has great food as well - plus it's a nice little getaway to be able to sit on the porch in one of their rocking chairs and enjoy your coffee! I've been here quite a few times, eaten in the little sandwich shop, and bought MANY of goodies from the store.. my latest experience though, makes me just want to stick with the farmers market next door. Me, my husband and my 10 month old baby were in bake shop filling up our basket. My baby was not crying, we were not loud obnoxious customers. We went to check out and automatically the lady (it was an older lady wearing an apron) behind the counter came off rude. She starting throwing our stuff around, I had bought cookies and she actually broke over half of them from throwing them around so much.. I'm surprised the glass on the jam jar didn't break as well. She tossed my husbands credit card back at him. All in all, it was just a very bad experience. My husband and I stopped in here on a Thursday afternoon to check it out. We moved here from New Jersey and were a stones throw away from an amazing Amish market. The market section of this location is fairly small. We picked up some toffee and also a cinnamon roll, both were delicious. I did a quick walk around while between rescue calls-- my crew had stopped in for their fresh baked cinnamon rolls. Everything in their shop is made in house, which means the likelihood of it being awesome is pretty high. I recommended this place to my mom who loves fresh baked goods. Pretty sure their deli section has fresh churned butter, and as a foodie, you can't find fresh churned butter in many places. I had their cinnamon rolls(oh so good!!), their delicious nutritious cookies(I absolutely love these) and their Ezekiel bread. The cafe was just as good. I got the dinner rolls after reading some reviews. They were baked yesterday and I was told they didnt have any baked today. I figured I'd give it a go and they aren't fresh. You're better off buying hawaiian rolls in Kroger. And this pack of 12 rolls cost me $4.45 plus tax. There is better bakeries in town. Big big disappointment. read more
