My third time to Heritage Coffee in the last couple of years. Wi-Fi: with purchase only. I'm OK with that. I would like, however, to sit and enjoy my coffee while surfing the net or catching up on emails. But here, they apparently want me to experience something other than staring at my phone or they think that I can drink my coffee in 15 minutes. The code on the receipt gives a mere 15 minutes of wi-fi time. I can't even "like" all my Yelp friends' activities in that amount of time. The smart thing to do here is to order everything separately. Max receipts=max codes=more time online. As for my caramel latte, I ordered an extra shot to taste the flavor of the espresso, which I knew from past experiences here. We stopped at very few eateries on our August cruise to Alaska (it was our fourth trip there and wanted to save $ and just eat/drink on the ship). However, this place was adorable, the staff was sweet and friendly and... they had wi-fi! My son was super happy to have oat milk for his coffee and my husband liked it so much, he bought merch. I tried to go to this place several times but each time there was an issue. The first day the kitchen was not open, the second day they were out of the dish that I wanted, and the third time that I went they didn't have any scones. I'm not sure what the fascination is but there are other options in Juneau that seem to be better and had much better service. This business is known for their local coffee brand. What's less known is what their breakfast is like. I just explore what interests me and that brings me to their eggs Benedict. I have to say that they do a good job on that unless they don't. One time the Hollandaise sauce were separating spots, indicating it wasn't made properly. The hash browns are another story, poor, not crispy, not tasty, not recommended. Their breakfast sandwiches are a waste of money, not recommended. I make a better tasty breakfast sandwich for less. read more

An unexpected find in Juneau. The story here I believe is the owner wanted to bring a Peets experience to Alaska but somehow the former CEO of Starbucks became involved and thus Heritage was born. At least that's what I was told. Tangents aside this place is pretty cool! I really love the logo here and the merchandise they sell here. I am kicking myself for not buying it. They use artwork that is inspired from the native totems. Love it! The staff seem very hipster. We ordered an affogato from the gelato available. Perhaps we didn't choose the best combo, coffee gelato with a shot of espresso. It was very good from a texture perspective though I think we could've diversified on the flavors. I spent a lot of time here during my two-day business trip in Juneau in late July, and I really enjoyed it. Having lived in Alaska most of my life, I enjoyed people watching and seeing tourists from as far as New Zealand stop by during a cruise trip. This location is very spacious with lots of available seating. The cafe has a warm, cozy atmosphere, especially with the more-often-than-not dreary Juneau weather. There's also a small gift shop area with bags of coffee and other nice souvenirs. I was impressed with the food and drink options on the menu. I went one time just for a latte, and another time for an affogato. I preferred the affogato since the gelato was thick and creamy and I could actually taste the espresso. The latte was average. I didn't order from their lunch menu so I can't say anything about that. My only complaint is the register area seemed rather chaotic. Baristas were rushing back and forth between the espresso machine and the register, so lines moved rather slowly. I had to wait a good 10-15 minutes to get my affogato and there was only one person in front of me. You'd think they would have more staff during tourist season. Anyway, other than that, it's a nice place to stop by for a cup of coffee on a cold and rainy day. read more

This is one great coffee shop. I enjoy a good cup of coffee and Heritage serves on good cup. Their coffee is nice and bold. It is was not bitter and the clerk said that they brew it every hour to ensure freshness. I also had an iced latte. The espresso was bold and rich. This had to have been one of the best espresso based drinks I have ever had. It's good to know a business where they know how to pull proper espresso shots. Another nice perk of the place is their home made gelato. I did not have a taste, but my girlfriend said that they were delicious. Just before leaving, I decided to buy a bag to try at home. The clerk said that they roast all of their beans local to Juneau and they do ship to your home. Another nice perk of the place is that they have free wifi and if you forgot your laptop; use one of their own computer. read more

This is a great coffee place that I enjoyed taking refuge in when my hostel locked me out during the day. Coffee here is good and cheap, nothing much more to say. Under 2 dollars for an 8oz of coffee. They also serve bomb gelato here. And therefore, affogatos as well! The pistachio gelato has glorious chunks of pistachio and is creamy and smooth. It is keen to see a coffee shop not attempt to simply replicate Starbucks business model; but in some ways that is what Heritage Coffee shop has done. Although they do have a limited Native American influence; it seems somewhat hyper inflated and artificial. A single decal of a Native American icon; isn't quite genuine to the culture. The art work is just there. It isn't genuinely displayed in a fashion other than a doctors office space. No genuinely inspired menu for drinks. The drip coffee isn't quite affordable, McDonalds drip coffee I believe is a bite more affordable; without the enmities of having actual half and half that doesn't taste like preservatives. The baked goods look pleasant. But again , if attempting to have an Alaskan feel why not a fried bread breakfast sandwich. The staff is fickle about being pleasant and happy. I often times arrive early in the morning so I understand sometimes a bit of discombobulation at the start of one's day. If they ever decided to create an actual menu, I think that there could be potential. But I'm sure there is a reason why Heritage coffee has been in the Alaska area for quite some time. read more

If you walk over the bridge from Douglas on a windy, rainy day in late October, by the time you get downtown you are pretty doggone damp, which is why it's a good thing Heritage Coffee has waterproof seating. You can sit there dripping on your notebook and reflecting on how you might have thought Levi's and hiking boots were pretty rough-and-ready, practical garb, but you can see why everyone else opted for Carhartts and XTRATUFs. You might wish the heat were turned up high to steam the water out of you, but in fact it's a fairly chilly and barren space, better suited to eavesdropping (which several customers stepped right up and confessed to, unlike your author) than cozifying. The coffee's okay, the pastries look unappealing, and there is Mighty Leaf tea, adequate but unexciting. If I lived in Juneau, I'd probably buy Heritage coffee, but drink it at home. read more

Really good iced mocha with coconut milk. They made it hot on accident first, but they quickly fixed it and it was delicious.

I work near one and swing by occasionally. Very slow service, if you order food expect a 30 minute wait. They also have a hard time cooking to order. Have had many times they've forgotten something or served the wrong item. Most recently ordered an burrito that didn't have cheese in it but the kitchen decided to randomly add cheese. Decided it wasn't worth waiting another 30 minutes for them to make new one. read more

Got the White Mocha and it was great! The line wasn't long and the coffee was ready in just a few minutes. Staff was friendly and quick. They have some baked goods in the front and they also sell their famous ground coffee. They don't have many seats available but also not many people inside. We went threw the drive up and I ordered an Americano sugar free and nonfat Iced, the server was friendly and made my drink as ordered so, no complaints so far. When I tasted it, it had the strangest taste to their roast. I couldn't put my finger on what the taste was but, I didn't finish my drink. My AK family I was with thought it was wonderful so, it is just my preference and nothing wrong with the coffee. I choose Delano's when home in WA. read more

I'll have to be desperate before I come back. I've been coming here for years, the coffee has always been inconsistent, but service was friendly and the coffee was still worth drinking. Today was different. We were greeted with a snarl and informed that we couldn't have an iced Cappuccino (she didn't know what it was and when informed, could have cared less). She said they only had iced lattes. We asked for a 12 oz, again informed we couldn't have that...only a 16 oz or 24 oz. So we asked for a 16 oz drink, only partially filled, with lots of ice (to cut down on the milk/coffee ratio). We got a full 16 oz with hardly any ice, hardly any espresso, and lots of milk. Poor service, poor quality...next time we'll go to the Grind. read more
