This shop has old expired/ close to expiring items on shelves. I didn't pay attention and bought an expired condensed milk. The Lakshmi 10lb rice bags ponni raw as well as idly rice had rice mites. Idly rice had bad odor. I don't see rice mites often when bought at other stores. If the shopkeeper keeps those rice for few more weeks and sell, the customer would be paying for the rice mites instead of the rice itself. I don't have time to drive all the way to this store to get my refund. I wouldn't recommend this store to anyone. read more

Love this little gem of a grocery store! Quite premium, expensive items but they focus on quality! My favorite part about the store is that it is the only grocery store to offer Indian jasmine flowers (mogra/mallipoo) for sale - is what I have found! I always call them to book the flowers in advance if I need them for an event and the people working here are super helpful, always ready to help. Ample parking outside the store. Highly recommend for Indian decor items and Indian flowers! For Indian groceries, you can get cheaper groceries in other Indian grocery stores, but if you're in a rush you can get from here! read more

Extremely clean and organized. Same impression as most of the other reviewers. Excellent customer service. I was in the area and needed to buy some snacks for my team. Since now I am in charge of that monthly task and most of my colleagues are Indians, the snacks have all the variety of wonderful flavors that mother India has to offer. I don't give 5 stars because the prices for snacks were too high as compared to other Indian grocery stores. Since my budget was pretty limited, I ended up going to other store to buy more affordable stuff, but honestly they had the best of the best. Their snacks were eaten as soon as they arrived to our workplace the next Monday, everybody could discern where the better quality was. Cleanest grocery store in the area. Has economic quantities of most of regular Indian grocery items from vegetables to masalas to rice. Vegetables are kept in packets and look fresh, so you can trust their quality for the price. Man at the checkout welcomes everyone with warmth and big smile. I went here to do my usual weekend grocery list for family and I would say I got all of them filled here, which tells this grocery store has all the stuff we usually look for. I wouldn't say the items are costly because the total fits the budget. Small but "powerful". Also, comparing this store to the big Indian stores around in El Camino Real is wrong as for the area where this is, this store rocks for the walkscore and convenience of nearby apartments and homes in Sunnyvale. read more

I went to this grocery store since it was the best rated Indian grocery store within 10 miles of where I was with my family for dinner. When I arrived there around 7:30 pm the parking lot was dark since all the other businesses were closed for the day. The area was dark enough that my two teenage daughters refused to get out of the car. The store itself is very small. The store was clean and very well organized. They also had items not commonly seen in Indian stores. For example, they carry Brahmin brand pickles that have very different flavor profile than the run of the mill Indian pickle brands such as "Mother's". That was a very nice experience. The selection of fresh produce is very limited. Furthermore they are all prepackaged. It seems they wash the vegetables and package it. However the package does retain a good amount of moisture which leads me to believe they are artificially increasing the weight of the items they sell. Finally, the prices of everything is much higher than what you find at other stores. And to add insult to the injury the price shows on the shelves OS different than what is rung up. Unless you are paying attention it is easy to overpay. Ironically they have a posting which says that I am entitled to pay what is listed on the aisles! I wonder if they have had issues with price differences before. All in all the store is way too highly rated. Hence my decision to give them 2 stars. read more

They started the service for "order via what's app and come for pickup, we will put the groceries in the car trunk" - exceptionally valuable service during these unprecedented times. It would have helped if they had cut down on their arrogance .. I placed an order on Friday evening. Called them to figure out how it worked overall. I was told - - We will call you for the credit card when we start to fulfill the order. - You need to be here within 45 minutes, specially if you have ordered frozen items. .. Ok, that can work. Can you give me a window, please? The response was extremely rude: No, we cannot. We are busy. We have large orders to fill and we are swamped. So, we will call you when your order is ready. I pushed on and asked them if they could give me a time like "morning" or "afternoon" or "after 4pm" - the person says after 4pm. On Saturday, I received a confirmation on what's app saying that my order was being acknowledged and I would hear from them in 24 hours. Sunday dawned, ended - no further contact. I tried to call them a couple of times, goes right to the voice mail. To the store owners - I appreciate your service, but you do need to realize that we are your customers. Families with kids, seniors have to put in thoughts for "heading out" so that the number of times we head out is minimized. This is for the good of the entire community ! \ Your arrogant attitude is counter acting. If you cannot fulfill the order, atleast respond to the what's app or pick up the phone and let the customers know that you are overwhelmed. I'm working through an Indian Cookbook and was in need of spices, different dals, etc. I was travelling in Santa Clara/Sunnyvale and decided to look up Indian Grocery. Heritage Indian Market was close by. With my cookbook in hand (Kindle), I stopped in and got everything I needed. I was shocked at the low prices compared to your average American grocery store. Once I got home, I did a price comparison. Cinnamon Sticks 830 times more expensive at Albertsons! Whole Cloves 11 times Turmeric Powder 24 times Cumin Seed 16 times I will certainly go back to this market the next time I am in Sunnyvale. The store is really clean and well organized.they have fresh cut beans, carrots and okra only at a slightly higher price than uncut veggies. It covers all the essentials and some more. My wife and I are frequent visitors of larger and busier Indian stores in the area and we stumbled upon this little place more by chance. What a wonderful find it was! The store is neat, the owners are personable and helpful and the stock and produce are maintained with the highest quality and standards (regrettably, the opposite is true in many Indian stores). I had a chat with the owner and it is very humbling to note that he wants word of the store to be spread through word-of-mouth rather than any in-the-face and obtrusive marketing. Just today, at the cashiers desk, he recommended that I exchange a couple of rather dark bananas (that I was actually OK with) with something fresher. This is integrity and ethics of the highest standards. I will henceforth make this place my primary shopping location and only go to other stores if absolutely necessary. As members of the community, it is our duty to reward wonderful people like this with our business. I do not go to Indian markets often, and the ones I have been to have been somewhat disorganized and dusty. Chose the Heritage Indian Market this time because of the excellent reviews. I was very pleased. It is organized, every item I saw was clearly marked for contents and price. The items were organized with items you would expect to be together, actually near each other. The vegetables are very fresh and clean. I found both organic and regular legumes. The clerk proactively asked if I needed assistance finding items, and explained what some items were when I needed help. Overall, a very positive experience. I recommend this market to those who are not very knowledgeable about Indian food, and of course my Indian friends. read more

I walked into the store expecting the usuals - messy aisles, maze style hunt for goods and probably loud local market environment. My new favorite Indian grocery. A medium-small place, but they have a very good selection of food (and some random other items) for their size. Super well-organized, very clean, fresh, and neat. The only thing they don't have is a meat counter. The prices are average I would say for an Indian grocer, not cheap. You could save a few dollars elsewhere, but for the convenience (open 9 AM to 10 PM every day), sanitary conditions (especially the produce), and friendly service, I am more than willing to skip the Safeway bargain bins and shop at Heritage for most of my grocery needs. read more

This is the cleanest Indian grocery store that I've visited in the Bay Area so far. But this comes with higher prices. I got regular masalas, pickles and lentils and my total was higher than what I expected and have ever paid in any other Indian store.
