Its never fun to replace your entire HVAC unit, but Ernie and the team at Heritage Valley made the experience easy and as painless as possible. First, they were very responsive. During the recent heavy rains our heater stopped working, we called and within 24 hrs they were on our roof looking at our HVAC unit. We were having issues with our A/C leaking water in the house and not sounding good. The first company we tried (Air Force) misdiagnosed and wanted an unreasonable price to do more. So glad we found Heritage. Ernie and Gabe did an AWESOME job diagnosing the issue. It turned out the water was condensation coming from the unit being so dirty it was freezing up and then melting over and over again. There was literally a pool of water underneath which could have damaged our floor. They removed all the moisture and then totally cleaned the unit on the inside and out, including parts of which I'm unfamiliar (blower, coil, condenser). They also replaced the filter and topped us off with freon. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! The unit is cooling so much faster. It's way quieter and it seems to be running less to get the house cool. We decided to replace to upgrade and replace our old AC system. The garage unit was the original and we knew it's days were probably limited plus not as energy efficient as we would like it. They came out looked at the system and the house. We got a few quotes with a few different options. We are glad we pulled the trigger. The difference was immediately felt and much appreciated when it hit low 90s the following day. We also got a whole-house fan installed that has been coming in clutch in the mornings and evening. Sucks out all the stagnant and warm air quickly with the fresh air outside. ernie will over charge and not fix the problem. don't pay him with venmo or check. called him out to fix hvac. ernie spent about 35 minutes with the system said he fixed it, charged me about $500 and left. he did not fix it. i had to call another company who said ernie had put in a wrong (and very cheap) part. he will charge you $150 for a part that costs $20 on amazon. i contacted him to asked for a partial refund. because it was venmo, he is refusing even refund $150 for the wrong part. read more

Contacted Heritage Valley Air for a quote on replacing deteriorated air ducts in my attic. Ernie came out, inspected my attic, and furnace. He noticed a gas flex line coming out of my older unit and told me that wasnt up to code and he could also fix that. The next day he sent two guys, Jerry and Vince, to complete the work. They arrived with masks and when I asked them before entering to put on hand sanitizer, which I provided, they did so without hesitation. They were very polite, clean, and efficient. 3 air ducts, a hardline installed in furnace, thourough inspection and cleaning of the furnace (inside and out), and replaced the wrapping on metal ducts on top of furnace. *BEWARE* On Monday September 5th my husband and I hired Ernie to come out to our business to diagnose and fix our commercial AC unit. It used to blow very strong and cold through all vents and we noticed it was struggling a bit to cool prior to the heatwave. He came and after assessment said it just needed regular maintenance. we trusted him and let him do the job because we were desperate with this heatwave coming. The invoice states they cleaned the condenser and filled it with R22 refridgerant. He said it would blow cool in a few hours. The next day and following week, the unit was no longer blowing air through some of the vents and temperatures inside my business were HOTTER than outside after letting the AC run for hours. It is working less efficiently than before. My employees had to be sent home and this was a VERY big hit to our business. After talking to Ernie and asking him to come back immediately, he suggested replacing the unit and quoted me $4200+tax. I asked him to come back immediately. We couldn't wait any longer so we called in another company for a second opinion. They found a clog in the TXV and explained the unit took R410a, NOT R22. This can cause permanent damage to the unit. Ernie came back and I kindly explained we had a second opinion from another company. They said the unit did not look clean which I kindly mentioned to him. He had plenty of excuses as to why the unit wasn't working that were "out of his control." He became very emotional and stormed out of my business without checking anything. His pride and ego took prescedence over doing the job correctly. Leaving my employees and customers to suffer in nearly 80 degree temperatures. After confronting him about the R22 he quickly changed his tune and said the invoice was a mistake. Now I'm out $600 and stuck with a $2200 repair. He has not responded to my message and has no intention of fixing this. read more

Let's start with what went well. They eventually solved the original problem I needed to resolve and completed AC maintenance. Its the how we got there is where the issues lie. First off, I described the problem I was having where the AC would stop blowing air downstairs, but not usually until later in the day. The upstairs zone was unaffected I explained. Puzzled, I had also mentioned that I had recently done some ductwork up there and reinforced some area that seemed to be leaking air with some duct tape. Fine enough, they completed their maintenance and I paid $380 for the radiator and outside ac unit to be cleaned and they left. I went to turn on the downstairs air and the outside unit kicked in but no air would flow through the vents. My original problem described was not solved. I reach out to them and they agree to return while waiting I ended up doing more research on my own because they had also mentioned there was a little bit of water near the furnace. This issue was in line with what may be a clog in the ac line, requiring a flush. One of the two comes in holding a giant ladder and coolant canister. I immediately notice he cannot properly take it upstairs without damaging my walls so I jump in to help guide him. He ends up hitting a corner of my wall upstairs anyways leaving a gash and mark..sigh next he flushes with coolant and says they previously flushed with air. I asked why there was no water coming out and he doesn't know. I then notice its dark up there and say hey there is a light-up there and the light switch is here. He tells me the other guy broke my light bulb earlier and obviously neglected to mention it to me, then proceeds to ask me what I want him to do.... like really? As calm as possible I tell him I am really irritated with them because for one they broke my light and didn't say a word, they have me troubleshooting with them instead of the other guy helping (not to mention with the ladder) while he is sitting in the passenger side of their work vehicle.. I tell him plain and simple I need you to diagnose and fix the problem. He texts the other guy sitting in the car and does a few things before sending me a text saying "we're fine, done". So I ask what that means and they say there was too much tape around the damper and they removed some to fix it. Then tells me they will not charge me for coming back! Granted, if the tape was the problem and not the lack of completing a decent flush I'll take ownership of causing that but they are the professionals and should have figured that out on their initial diagnosis after me explaining the issues more than once. I can't believe what a bad experience that was, never again... I wanted it to work out because they are local in order to support but am very disappointed. Now it makes me question what they actually cleaned up there due to their lack of transparency with something as simple as a lightbulb... crazy Do your self a favor and go with someone else, that's what I get for trying to Support the community I suppose. Update: Today I walked over to the side of my house and noticed they didnt even reinstall my air filters, they are the washable type (pricey) and very well made. They werent even going to tell me I guess and assumed I wanted or preffered the standard paper type, which was the cheapest grade... sigh.. I explained my concerns to them, provided recommendations (should be common sense to tell a homewoner you broke something but whatever) and they dont care, and seem rather quite defensive and told me use another service provider next time. That didnt stop them from cashing my check within a day. read more

Ernie installed a new 4 ton goodman furnace AC to our home in Ventura. He completely re-ducted the attic and added 220v electrical and refrigerant lines, relocated thermostat and added a sealed return register. The work looks perfect, his custom sheet metal work, the ducting is strapped well, plenums made well and all work done to code. His price was the best in town, fantastic, in fact, and he worked very hard to earn the contract. Whether or not the goodman unit will last 20 years, who knows? But the installation was very well done and lightning fast. The work was very fast with a crew of 4 and thorough clean up was done daily. Work areas were swept and vacuumed and his crew was polite to my family. He provided a generous written warranty, and if we have any future issues, we hope Ernie will take care it for us.
