Told my neighbor (they live in Va. ) that they would deliver kerosene to their Ellenville home by the end of the week. That was 2 weeks ago!! I've had to get kerosene from a gas station to keep heat on! How unreliable!! Don't lie and not deliver! I'm looking for a new company for them. With this company, the customer is never right. I really don't know where to begin. We were with Heritage for about 11 years, starting soon after building our house. The nightmare started that 1st winter with them. I had to call them out after our furnace shut off. At this point we didnt have a contact with them (with a new furnace who would think you needed one). Well it took multiple technicians over multiple days to get the furnace working properly and I took notes as technicians criticized the work of prior technicians as the reason for the furnace not running properly. Knowing we didn't have a service plan and that the multiple technician visits would cost us, I went and talked to a manager. I presented the manager my notes and he admitted they would have charged me alot of money had I not paid attention and he apologized and asked me to stay on with them them and to start a service plan with them. I unfortunately agreed. Then year after year we had to fight to correct their billing errors and each time the office staff would be dismissive and belittling as if we were in the wrong but of course it turned out that we weren't. One time, more recently, I had to again go into their office to talk to a manager but this time it was another billing screw up that I could not settle over the phone (totally dismissed me). I presented my paperwork and the manager admitted they were wrong and also admitted how screwed up the office was and that because of other customer complaints he was in the process of modifying the management of the office. Then 2016 I had Heritage service and clean our furnace before the upcoming winter. To our surprise we got a bill for the cleaning when we have always had a full service plan that covered cleaning. To our amazement, the office then argued that we had changed our plan from a full service plan to a basic plan that didn't cover cleanings. Of course we didn't do that. Why would we? I Had to work out a deal to pay more to upgrade back to a full service plan and less than 2 weeks later, the terms of the agreement were changed and now they wanted to inspect my furnace cause it is 10 years old to determine eligibility for a full service plan. The only ones who have touched my furnace over the last 10 years is Heritage and every year they clean, service and evaluate the furnace and now they want to inspect it for eligibility. What the? The furnace was just serviced and cleaned by them the prior month. Than in the middle of the 2016 winter I had to get Heritage to come out after the furnace stopped working. This was during one of the coldest days of the winter. I was at work when the technician showed but my daughter was home. My Daughter reported to me that the tech worked on the furnace than left while it was apart saying he would return. The tech did not return. As soon as I had a chance I called Heritage to get an update on my furnace and to my amazement, was told by the office that the heat was on. I told them that it was not on per my daughter. Belittling me in the process, they insisted it was on. I than contacted my daughter who sent me a picture of the disassembled furnace motor. I called back heritage and again had to argue with them that I had no heat. That was just unbelievable to me, they were rude on top of being wrong. Well after 2 days of no heat and a new motor and a relay, heritage is now saying that we have to hire an electrician, that we have a problem with the house wiring. My house and furnace is 11 years old and Heritage are the ones to work on anything in my house. Who you think screwed my furnace up? Update February 2018: switched to Bottini. They had a technician clean my furnace and that was it, absolutely no problems. Technician reported that there was an eye sensor that was not clean which I think is the thing that Heritage Energy missed. Under Heritage we had issues for 10 years from furnace turning off multiple times a year to billing nightmares and as soon as I switch to another company, zero problems. September 2018 update: I see that Cosco and Heritage made a merger and that Cosco-Heritage is keeping all of Heritage's workers. That means the company will have the same rude and inept office and management staff. I thank God I'm not with them anymore. Anyone from Heritage can feel free to contact me to argue that I am mischaracterizing the truth here but they will not because they know I am telling the truth and that this was how they have done business. read more

Involved in a situation with them right now that isn't going well. These are gougers. Plain and simple. And borderline thieves. I'm rarely at my home this winter and I'm getting $400 bills with my heat on forty degrees. They are charging me 4.97 a gallon. Arbitrarily. I was just told this is industry standard, as they tell you to bully you into thinking that this is federal rule or something. It's a lie and a con. They've stolen thousands of dollars from me in penalties, arbitrary per gallon costs, and fees. I have scores of people moving up to the area and all will be directed away from this company. I talked to one man today, Ed, who was nice, but realized I'd be a pain in the ass, and he referred me to his supervisor whose VM was full and not taking messages. Wonder why, right? Heritagenergy has been totally negligent this season. I've been an autofill propane customer since 2006. I have a 500 gallon tank that they have willfully allowed to run dry despite my repeated calls. Heritagenergy even has a wireless tank monitor on my tank. The last delivery they made was in November and it's now January 14th 2018. On Wednesday (1/10) I called for delivery when I discovered that the tank was below 4%. I was told that a ticket for my house was out and delivery would be made. I called again on Thursday morning and was told to expect delivery. At 4PM when I called again, the office staff sent a tech with a 24 gallon (a 1 day supply) tank to tie in. But no delivery was made on Friday either. There's no excuse for not making a delivery in December. But to fail to deliver in three days after I notified them repeatedly that the tank was near empty is grossly negligent and should serve as a strong warning to would be customers. If problems beyond their control were preventing them from making a timely delivery, Heritagenergy had a duty to inform the customer. Heritagenergy, no matter how good they were in the past has become GROSSLY UNRELIABLE. And that's the last thing anyone needs from a fuel delivery company. Even if they deliver tomorrow and provide another emergency tie-in tank today, how would I be able to trust them to make timely deliveries in the future? They're simply not trustworthy when it comes to staking your house. I suspect that Heritagenergy may be experiencing financial difficulty- how else to explain the multiple reports online from customers who've PRE-PAID for their fuel and yet Heritagenergy has allowed their tanks to run dry. If true, this verges on scam behavior. For several years I prepaid $6000 or more for fuel- surely I'd be a fool to do this in the future. Something is really wrong with Heritagenergy- maybe the AG needs to look into it. ____ I've been told that Heritagenergy has sold to Paraco, so maybe this is just the new lower level of service to expect going forward. read more

I've been a customer with Heritage for 25 years. I've had a service contract with Heritage for 25 years. Last winter I noticed an oil smell in the house after the yearly inspection of the furnace and the installation of a new oil tank. I checked the area around the tank which was dry, but below the furnace unit was a slow oil leak. I brought this to their attention and got no response until I got a notice from the EPA concerning the 'oil spill' in my house. My heating system was red-flagged (physically disabled). This happened in the dead of winter when I was in Hawaii on vacation. Temps were in the single digits. Heritage was absolutely rude and of no help in the matter. They put of all on me, even though I had a service contract and had notified Heritage more than once about this problem. I had no alternative than to arrange for immediate clean up by the EPA followed by the installation of a new heating system. Heritage was dismissive and difficult to speak with. They will NOT help you in any way should you get in a problem. They will let your house and pipes freeze. I STRONGLY recommend you do not use this company for anything. I have never written a bad review about any company before. read more

Terrible, terrible company. After overcharging my mother for years, letting her run out of propane (while on automatic delivery), sometimes even delivering to the wrong house, HeritagEnergy decided to start charging a huge tank rental fee. She finally switched companies (and is very, very happy - gets treated well elsewhere). HeritagEnergy took over 7 MONTHS to come and pick up their tank and now has the audacity to charge my mother well over $100 to collect their own tank (which has been in her way for many months). So because she did not want to pay a tank rental fee, on top of being constantly overcharged for the gas and often forgotten on automatic delivery and allowed to run out, se is now being punished with another fee. Seriously, if you are considering using this company, please go elsewhere unless you like being mistreated, overcharged and unappreciated. read more

Oh my. We've been trying to get heating oil delivered to our home.. for nearly two weeks. With in and off snow, and our driveway being nearly 1,000 feet long - we've incurred endless ploughing costs to make sure the driveway is clear for delivery. Here we are, a few day before CHRISTMAS, still no oil. Supposedly, it's up to their drivers whether they feel like coming down our driveway to deliver or not. Our toddler has a fever and with a dozen of us in the house, and no heat, this will be some holiday!!! And all that because of this horrific oil delivery company. We couldn't get Heritage to even as much as give us an approximate window of delivery so we could make sure the driveway is spotless for their scaredy cat driver to take a chance on us. Meanwhile, my husband drives up and down th driveway, daily, in a small Toyota without an all wheel drive!! What a preposterous, ridiculous performance. The only time they were punctual and on the money was when they pursued us to sign the contract. Waste of time, and very frustrating. If I were you, I'd give my business to any one of the other local oil delivery companies. God knows there are many around! read more

Automatic delivery and paying your bill apparently doesn't get your fuel delivered in frigid weather. Days into calling an *emergency* number, you are blatantly ignored, customer service is for the most part completely and totally arrogant and snarky. They are claiming that because it is "cold out" that they are doing the best they can and that it's basically not their fault you don't have fuel. I'm sorry, but that's actually a VERY poor excuse for a heating company that's been in the business of... making people ... not cold... for 30+ years or so. But while I wouldn't ever be mean to a representative, how can the company let them get away with being so nasty to customers who paid and are freezing and just want to know when they will get heat. "All calls will be recorded"... yeah, ok. It would be nice to know when you can have heat in frigid temps or a shower again. But they sit in their cozy office and irritably answer the phones today saying "we're doing the best we can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I've also been sitting here for days, waiting for you to do anything. read more

I've been a customer of Heritagenergy for over ten years. I had both oil and propane services provided by them. I thought they were a fine company until they merged with a couple of other companies. Before the merge, I used to get oil deliveries with pretty heavy snow fall, after the merge, they wouldn't deliver even if there was a coating on my road. Not only that, I noticed the pricing was going up much higher than their competitors. With that being mentioned, I dropped their oil delivery and have saved a lot of cash.
