I gave it more chance by washing and drying the day after, but it's overall disappointing. I had mentioned a few times I want to keep it longer like the picture I showed, but it wasn't heard. I couldn't say much more once the stylist made the very first snip and had to go along with it. It became even shorter by the end. I wish the stylist had been more proactive about the consultation before proceeding with the cut. I got an impression that the stylist wanted to get through the hair cut session as a quickly as possible. This was for upcoming graduation, so it is more disappointing. Again, very nice lady. Not too sure if it's just one time issue!

He services his scissors in Japan semi-annually just to maintain his equipments in great condition. This helps prevent split ends and other hair troubles I used to frequently encounter. Nori also uses a scale to formulate the hair colors. You can feel assured you won't come out of the salon looking funky. Appointments can be made online directly from his website, or by emailing/texting him directly. He is very flexible and accommodating with appointments. Lastly, parking can be found adjacent from the salon building structure. You can also charge your EV for free too. Amex accepted and drinks and clean environment offered. I went in to get a perm and cut…read more The vibe was very nice. Very respectful. His space was very clean and tidy with what seems, state of the art tools. I have had fine hair all my life, but even still my hair has always taken well to perms, always. Even the last one over a year ago. The only complaint I had was the use of larger rods which made my hair more wavy curl than curly. Nori had said that my hair wouldn't take well to a perm, but because I know my hair's history, I asked him do it anyway and he agreed to do it. First he used a more gentle solution because of my pervious perm over a year ago (did not ask if I wanted that), and I didn't know until he was already in the process of using it on my hair... my hair needs the stronger solution. Second he did a loose curl wrap instead of a tight curl wrap. With fine hair (or at least my hair) it needs to be curled up against the scalp. I think he did this because it was a hot treatment perm (which I never had before) vs a cold treatment perm. He didn't give an option. So the perm came out ok on the bottom because it already had the previous perm that was there from a year ago. But the top part of my hair had virtually no difference. If you have fine hair and looking to get a perm, I would not recommend Nori. I'm sure he does really well with all other hair services. To his credit, the perm itself, aside from the lack of curl, was a healthy perm (did not harm my hair) and he did give a very nice cut prior to the perm process. I think if he would have explained his treatment process and how it differed from what I had previously experienced, that may have helped my decision to go elsewhere, before wasting over $200 I had taken a year 1/2 to save. Again I think he probably does really well with the other services he provides. I just think for women (or men) with fine hair, you may want to think twice if you're looking to get a perm.

This place is awful. The owner is RUDE and as many have posted he is damn fishy. Don't use a credit card and be sure to count your change before you leave. The products are old. I am sure it is because there is very little turn over due to his rudeness and bad reputation in this town. I remember when the counter guy was such a jerk to me I asked if the owner was there. He said he was the owner and I was shocked! Most owners want business! So odd for an owner to be so rude right from the start. He was outside smoking the entire time I was looking around. I had a question about a flat iron for hair. I had to walk outside, where he was smoking and talking on his cell, to ask a question. His reply, "Are you really going to buy that"? I guess because I wear shorts and flip flops he thought I didn't have money? Or, maybe because I'm a guy? Whatever his reason it was so odd. His answers were flip. I left and bought a $100 iron at another beauty supply. It was for my 13 year old daughter dude. But my next few trips he was still rude. I only went in because Im a dad to a 13 year old girl and every time we go to Von's she wants to get something at the beauty supply and jamba juice. But no more! read more

My opinion to Patrick C's review: you know, this sort of attitude is actually quite dissapointing and quite frankly reflects totally on the lack in your personality and character. The fact is you consulted a professional Hairstylist, who subsequently educated you and showed you the correct way to apply the product. You were still unhappy and could not accept that this was a case of 'user error'. Why did you not take the prodyct home, and then try it again properly. Very unreasonable. Now darling, where's the salt. I want to take it back to Trader Joe's because my food is too salty!! What's that my love? Put a little less onto the food? Do you think thats the solution? Cant be! I did not know they even had a stylist at this location not to mention she is from Beverly Hills and does AMAZING work but does not charge Beverly Hills prices! The concept was very different than the other Japanese nail salons in town. The pricing varies by how much time it take for you to do your nails yourself. The gel polish(virtually odorless) that Yuriko let you use (at the salon only) is sold to professional nail artists exclusively. She doesn't do acrylic nails so her salon doesn't have that chemical odor like other salons. She will walk you through every step of the way to help you achieve the nail design you want! When you're ready to remove your gel nails she will teach you how to remove them via "soak off" method. Yuriko is also very knowledgeable on how to care for individuals with dry brittle nails like myself. If you don't mind the commute to the salon. Enjoy doing your nails especially gel and want to decorate as much as possible for a low price too, then I definitely recommend it! Best of all no need to pay tip since you're doing your own nails. In addition, you don't need an appointment and Yuriko will work with you on an first come first serve basis.
