I don't recommend anyone buy from this online store; I placed an order but never received it.

This place is not easy to find as the front of the store faces a street with no parking signs on it and it's in a business complex. You park in the back but can't enter through the back. The hours on Google are not accurate. I walk in and was thinking it would be a normal beauty supply store like Sally's where you can walk through and look at stuff. It's more of a warehouse that they ship from and you can order online from but the older gentleman wasn't friendly and asked me what I wanted instead of letting me figure it out and look. Don't come here if you're looking for a normal store, you can't walk around and look at everything here. Also they don't do returns. Exchanges only. I wish they would have told me that before I purchased something I wasn't even sure was the right product because they didn't let me look at the options to see which one I needed. He did give me the "price online" since it was "cheaper" without my asking but I'm not even sure if that's the case because I had no idea you were supposed to order online in the first place! I bought two Elta MD tinted sunscreens for myself and a friend on December 14, 2024. My friend opened hers in February, 2025 and let me know that the container was defective; the pump did not work so she couldn't get any of the product out. I had not opened mine, so I did, and my container had the exact same problem...weird. I contacted Hermosa on February 9, 2025 and let the owner know. The owner was argumentative and said that there was only a 30 day period to return defective goods. I looked up California law and learned that there is an "implied warranty" that exists for a minimum of 60 days for a defective item. The owner doesn't know California law and apparently doesn't follow the law. He has refused to exchange or refund these items. Again, what are the chances that I randomly received two defective products? STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE. read more

I specifically ordered my hair color from them because it stated ON THEIR SITE that I could have it delivered on Tuesday (today). I placed this order on Sunday June 1st. I paid extra for Priority shipping in order to get this Tuesday delivery. Even if I didn't pay extra, it was supposed to arrive on Wednesday (according to their own website). When I tracked the order this morning, it showed that my order will arrive by 9pm THURSDAY (2 days late!). Just as an FYI.....I am moving out of state this Thursday. I called Hermosa Beauty and spoke with the owner (Dennis). He made all of the excuses he could think of........1.) They are closed on Sunday (their delivery schedule should reflect that). 2.) " I probably mailed it Monday morning" ....WRONG.....tracking shows it was brought to the Torrance Post Office at 5:57pm on Monday June 2nd. 3.) He said it is not under his control when the post office delivers it.........yes and no..............if Dennis had mailed it early enough, it would still have arrived earlier, AND if owner, Dennis, saw that it wasn't going to arrive on time (which would be clear and if he didn't "know", he simply could have asked a person in the post office.), as a business owner, you would think he would care enough to send it so it would arrive as promised. and 4.) He kept insisting.....over and over again, that I should have ordered it for 2 day shipping. Why would I do that if your site told me it was going to be here when I needed it? I already upgraded to priority shipping just to give myself 1 extra day lead time. I told Dennis that I am moving cross country and my movers are coming this Thursday and that no one would be here to accept the package and it would already be too late for me to use. He then started telling me that I can refuse the delivery or go to the Post Office and tell them to forward it to me........seriously??? I am guessing that this man has been in business for a long time and he just no longer cares about customer service. He was raising his voice to me throughout our conversation. I'm so glad I found Hermosa Beauty! I was looking for a local beauty supply store that carried a particular brand of hairbrush that I love. HB is located close to my mom's house, so I figured I would stop by when I was in the neighborhood. Sadly, I discovered that they don't have a retail store anymore. However, if you're local, you can pick up orders at their corporate office to save on shipping. I spoke with a very nice man -- not sure if he was the owner or not -- and he said I could place an order over the phone or online and he confirmed the products I was looking for were in stock. Both items were on sale, so I ended up having my order shipped to my house for a very reasonable shipping cost. I ordered on Tuesday with an expected delivery date of Friday and it arrived a day early! Also, after I placed my order, I received a really nice email -- not salesy -- just thanking me for my business. Super-fast delivery, so props on that! Excellent prices with freebies for fun so thumbs up there. If you are particular about your order matching the image pictured, then you may need to adjust! My product comes in a squeeze tube and Hermosa Beauty advertises the same but I received a cylinder pump version which would not be my preference. But certainly possible manufacturer created this change and website not updated- different upc's as well. And who's going to bitch about freebies! So no complaint, just a comment that the samples both come in a tin foil type packet whereas on site they are pictured in a tube and/or twist off cap mini jar. All's good. This product arrived punctured because it was poorly packed by Hermosa. I immediately informed them and sent pictures. The tube was leaking a lot. They insisted it was not their fault and that I had to send it back to get a refund. They found it more plausible that there was a product defect, even as it was not packed in any padded packaging when they sent it. I travel for work, so was away when they asked me to send it back and apparently they emailed me a label that went to spam. When I was back and tried to take care of this, label was not be found, and they said they wouldn't send me another. And that they wouldn't refund my money, claiming they needed the product to get their money first from Sebastian. I have ordered this product from several providers, who all sent it better packaged, and this has never happened. Find another seller. read more

The staff at Hermosa Beauty has always been extremely pleasant and helpful. The whole atmosphere is wonderful, and there are many unique and beautiful hair items such as barrettes and hair clips. I went in looking for wig caps (very hard to find in this area for some reason, probably because there aren't many black people) Owner was not friendly and ignored us even though my dad and I were the only people in the store. I asked if they had wig caps and he said no and kind of scoffed. Very weird and unfriendly. He was doing something on the computer when we came in and then followed us to the back of the store while we were looking around. Hopefully not just because we are black, but it felt like it. Wow. I'm astounded by the reviewers who say the man there is nice. Been in there several times and he's always rude. Today I went in looking for nail oil. He pointed me toward Nailtec. I chose not to buy it because im cruelty free. He actually argued with me claiming no one does animal testing anymore because everything has already been tested. I've been shopping here for the last 5 years and every time I come I always have success. I say this because the owner is super knowledgeable with all of the products he carries. Every time I'm in the search for something new or I need a product for a specific cause he points me in the right direction. For example, the market is over saturated with dry shampoos and many of which are not good. When I asked him for help on this last year, he pointed to Khlorane and he shared the story behind the product...needless to say, I bought it and loved it and have been a fan of it since. I'm pretty disappointed at my ignorance and need of immediate convenience. I get a Brazilian blow out every 2 months and need Brazilian blow out products to maintain my hair. Hermosa Beauty Supply was the only place closest to me. I've been going there for almost two years and rarely ever once looked around or bought any thing else. I knew the store was a little dated but never did I realize that 80% of the products in that store are expired. I bought a few hemp body washes which are normally a white type of cream. Well... When I opened the hemp body washes I bought at hermosa beauty supply, it was so expired it was a liquidity green. I took it back and unfortunately lost my receipts, so I walked directly to the hemp section and was able to prove that all the hemp body washes were expired and there were close to 20 on the shelf. I brought it to the owners attention and he said he didn't see an An expatriation date but the labels were so washed out and the bottles were dusty where it was confirmation he never bothered to maintain the products simply by dusting them. Then I took a moment to look around and noticed all his products had a layer of dust and were definitely expired. You can see the oils separate from the products. So gross! Don't even bother stepping foot in this store. The city should inspect and shut this place down since he selling product that goes on your skin and hair! read more

I'm not going to even try to be witty or cute with this review. I'd been going to Hermosa Beauty Center for years and although they do in fact have a GREAT selection of goods, they lost me forever today. Why? Because when I tried to return a product I used ONCE I was informed there was a 7-day return policy. Fine, I get it... If it was an item I picked out by my own doing, it would be one thing, but one of their clerks went to great lengths to tell me how amazing it was. Maybe it was amazing, but I thought it smelled disgusting and was extremely oily. Today when the tall curly-haired/balding cashier told me I was using too much of the item, I told him I no longer wanted it and since he wasn't going to give me a refund or do an exchange, he could keep it. He smiled and said "thank you." You're welcome buddy, and I hope you're able to resell it because you're going to have to do something to supplement the $100.00/year I'm taking down the road to the next beauty supply bidness. Hi Dennis, I am actually not in the beauty industry at all, hence not knowing much about extensions prior to getting my hair done by Char. i can go back to my bank statements and give you an exact date that I left the deposit. I find it hard to believe you don't have record because I used my Visa card. People do often spell my name with a "C" by mistake so you may wish to check that. I am not one to post negative reviews but I would not want anyone to go through what I did with Char. This was about a year or two back so hopefully she has learned a few things since then. I wish I knew the name of the sales associate with whom I always deal when I shop here--she goes above and beyond. She's friendly, knowledgeable, and knows EVERYTHING there is to know (and then some) re. where to go in the South Bay for all things beauty--on any budget. She's definitely the one and only shining star of this business, though. To say Hermosa Beauty marks up their merchandise would be 2011's greatest understatement. I have never paid so much for my already-pricey Kerastase hair product (and won't again, when I can purchase it from my stylist at a much more reasonable rate). Hermosa Beauty does have an extensive selection of the best brands for hair, skin and nails. Their make-up selection is pretty mediocre, and I'm a Sephora girl when it comes to make-up shopping, anyway. Basically, if you need a beauty item right away and/or don't mind spending extra money and dealing with lackluster staff who could care less if they keep your business (the salesgirl I mentioned above being the obvious exception), then Hermosa Beauty is an 'okay' option. Overall, though--super pricey for what you're getting, without the excellent service needed to soothe you after a gaping hole is left in your wallet. I rarely shop here unless I need nail supplies I absolutely can't find somewhere else, or am in an exceptionally big hurry last-minute to snag a beauty product (this store is very close to our condo). ...Just as a side note, and this is strictly a gut feeling only--the owner(s) give me an uneasy feeling, as though their business isn't legit, and my mama always told me to trust my gut.
