I walked in for Nail Enhancements, no nail tech was there and I was given a number to call Jenn... Nice person on the phone, she gave me a price for $80. When I showed up for my appointment, Jenn told me its going to cost in the $100 range ... I only had the $80 she quoted, so she did them without new tips. Jenns nails started popping off one by one within a couple of days, I went back and she fixed the one but after the others started popping off I just let it go. At the time I did not complain because I was told by Traci the owner I could work there after I pasted my manicurist test and got my license. So, I got my Nail License the other day and went directly to Hermosa nails to show the owner. She was excited and happy for me, i asked Traci if she thought I should advertise for clients. Traci had a puzzled expression and said no, we will talk. After not hearing from her for a thew days, I knew something was up ... i sent her a picture of my new nail supplies and case. She replied im sorry I dont have any tables available that they are all taken. I knew that was not true because I drive by everyday and always see 2 to 3 tables empty not being used. I've been coming here for almost a year to get my lashes done by Yoko. Even though this is a nail salon, they also offer full spa amenities, such as skincare, wax, hair, and lashes. The shop is nicely decorated and always clean. They also spruced up the cleanliness since Covid, adding partitions between stations to enhance both privacy and social distancing, as well as hand sanitizer, temperature checks, and a health screening upon entry. It always smells good in here, too! It's not like other nail shops where the smell of acrylic and monomer is overpowering. You don't smell any chemicals in here, so they clearly have great ventilation, as well. Yoko has her own private room and many others use private rooms, as well. They have parking in a private lot, as well as on a side street. This cute little salon is located upstairs with a great ocean view. This review is long overdue. I was personally referred to Hermosa Nail Co. by a close friend of mine, who personally knew the owner Tracy. Personal referrals usually work out really well so I made an appointment. They are very pricey but I didn't care if the quality and experience was there. The owner Tracy did my nails every time I went. The first couple times I had them done, It was great. I was offered a glass of wine when I came in, they have cute little things for sale, she was very friendly and made conversation with me. I thought she was really nice. Then, the last time I went there, about my 4ith or 5th time, when she was doing my nails, I noticed a dark brown hair had gotten trapped under the gel. I pointed it out to her and she said "don't worry I'll fix it". Then when she said "All done" and I saw the dark squiggly hair I could never tolerate having stuck on my nail still there, I asked her about it. She caught me off guard and blew up at me. She was really offended and said that she talks to me and is so nice to me every time I come - that she can't believe I'm even daring to complain about the dark hair stuck under the nails that cost over $50.00. She actually lost her cool, became completely unprofessional, got very nasty, and told me to "try to find someone that will do a better job for that price" - how arrogant. She was a personal referral so I didn't want to be rude to her. I simple told her I don't feel comfortable paying over $50 dollars for a job I'm not happy with and that I would just have to go and get the dark hair removed now, because the nails didn't meet my standards. She said I don't want your money and became curt with me. I was shocked she had acted that way after she had been so nice before and left. I don't know if she was having a bad day, suffering through personal problems, or what the case was but her treatment that night was unacceptable. Maybe you'll get lucky but I would not recommend this place. It was a horrible experience and I had to go somewhere else and get my nails done. read more

I've been going to HNC for about a decade now and am never disappointed. They offer a multitude of services and each and every one of the staff are so very sweet. Traci, the shop owner, is probably the nicest person you'll ever meet. She's owned the business for over 30 years and prides herself in listening to customers and doing her best to make HNC a lifelong place to go for spa services for southbay clients. I go here for lashes, nails, skin services and hair. Many of the staff have been here FOREVER but even the new members are fantastic - she's very careful to only bring in quality staff. I have been going to Hermosa Nail for almost two years now. Traci has transformed my skin with her facials, treatments and the line of face products she uses. I am no longer having to use multiple layers of foundation and concealer. I find myself using a thin application of a foundation just to lightly even out my already almost flawless skin. I came here with the groupon that they offered a while back. The gel manicure with a glass of champagne or wine and an express perdicure. Pros: -LOVE my nail color and they look clean and professional (with the exception of one flaw on my left pinky) -Was offered a glass of wine or water when I walked in I took water at first while waiting since I arrived way early. Lindsey offered another beverage but didn't specify which, I just said I wanted wine. -The staff was very friendly and enjoyable. -The parafin treatment left my hands super soft -I believe you could see the ocean from their spot (but you don't really get to take in that view during service since the nail tech's are facing the view and you get to face east :( Cons- - After just 4 days of wear my manicure is chipping. Gel isn't supposed to do that!! - I had planned on but forgot to bring my sandals and I was wearing boots cause I was running errands the rest of the day. I wasn't offered a pair of those throw away sandals even after I told Lindsey I forgot to bring mine. Needless to say I had to leave eventually after waiting for paint to dry and I ruined my pedicure. Not her fault for my forgetting but all nail salons have those sandals and I should have been given a pair especially since I asked for them. My pedicure was a complete waste cause I chose a color I didn't have at home :( - I got no hand massage which is custom in a manicure -Lindsey didn't do anything to soften my cuticles prior to the manicure so she pushed back stiff cuticles which wasn't comfortable -this didn't bother me but I am sure it would to others. Lindsey was on her phone a lot dealing with a family issue which I totally understand is important (which is why it didn't bother me) but if this is a common occurrence it isn't pleasant to the client and is poor etiquette. Overall- I wouldn't go back to pay for normal services since what I got was valued at $73 and it felt like I got a far inferior service than going to a regular nail shop that would have changed $25 for the manicure and gel polish. I feel like they do a lot of services and maybe that's their downfall. They have a hair girl, a masseuse, a person who does waxing, and they do nails. Perhaps it was just the fact that Lindsey was preoccupied with her family and things got overlooked in my session, but it makes me not want to be a regular client and be overcharged for subpar service. P.S. I did tip Lindsay 15% of the regular cost of the service, so I don't think that was a factor in some of the cons i experienced. I hope me having a groupon wasn't a factor either. - read more

I would give them a zero if possible because they didn't want to really help me. I purchased a GroupOn and was told it expired. Felt like they just took my money and ran. Got a gel-manicure and express pedicure. It was ok. I had a groupon and didn't get offered water let alone the glass of champagne/wine that it was suppose to include. The staff was friendly enough. Lots of bumps in my gel manicure, not sure if that's how they usually are, or if I was just unlucky. Makes it look unprofessional. Saw another manicurist talking on her cell phone while with a client, I thought that was very unprofessional. Michelle did my nails, and she's really accommodating and pleasant to be around. It's been almost 3 weeks and my nails still look awesome. The salon also overlooks Aviation Blvd., so there's tons of light - a great change from the usual salon venues where you don't see the light of day. Which incidentally is a real struggle for me because it's always a toss up between being indoors or out. At HNC, I feel like I'm getting my nails done with a view! I've been getting my nails done for so many years and this was hands down the best manicure and pedicure I've ever had!
