Called for service on furnace due to noise. They came out checked said something was in fan area cleaned it out. Also checked my capacitor and suggested I replaced it due to it not running at full compacity which I did(obvious up charge). They gave me quotes for a few different options to do like replacing whole unit, cleaning ducts, replacing fan etc. I said I'll have to talk it over. Called a couple weeks later to find out the price again. They wanted to charge me another service fee so they could come out again to tell me the quotes from prior visit. On top of another service fee for the service when they do the replacing of part. So up to 3-4 service fees for one issue that they did not resolve. At $100 dollars a pop not including anything else. read more

Called them out for a short cycling furnace Friday morning. Jeff was out an hour later. Hes an outstanding technician. Didn't have the flame sensor in stock. He cleaned the old one to get furnace working until the new part came in. Called us today, Tuesday morning, that the order was in. 30 minutes later he was here. Replaced it in a few minutes. Working great now. Very reliable and fast. Costs a little up there but not horrible. Worth it. Jeff was extremely friendly and explained everything in great detail. Thank you for respondingso fast. Havinga new baby here also and temps aboutto drop below zero, thanks for coming out fast. Will use them definitely again. 3rd time we've used them. Amazing how such a small part causes a big problem. (Summer 2023) We have an all electric home with no ductwork, so installing AC required a unique solution. We decided to go with a Mitsubishi mini split ac/heat pump. Hero Heating was listed on the Mitsubishi website, along with 4 other contractors in our area. After calling Hero Heating, they had a tech (Glen) out to our home within a couple days, and had a quote ready the next day. Their price was much lower than any of the other contractors we called. They were very professional, and responsive. It took a few weeks for the Mitsubishi unit to arrive and schedule the installation. It only took one day for the techs (Joe and Dylan) to complete the installation. We now have an AC unit blowing ice cold air, and will hopefully save on electric heating cost by using the heat pump next winter. I highly recommend Hero Heating & AC. They were very professional and super nice people to work with. (Winter 2023) Just wanted to add to my first review, the ac worked beautifully during the hot weather and we are now using the heat pump as our main source of heat. The unit seemed to be a little noisy so we called Hero Heating and they came out right away and installed something called sound isolator pads that fit between the unit and the mounting bracket. It only took a few minutes and they did this for free. The heat pump is super quiet now. I once again highly recommend Hero Heating & Air Conditioning in DeKalb, Illinois. read more

The weekend before the "Polar Vortex" we lost our furnace which caused a burst pipe. Having met Cassie through the Delalb Chamber turned out to be as Godsend. Because we were displaced, H.E.R.O. moved us up in the list and got us a top of the line until (the last a local supplier had) and installed it quickly so the cleanup crew could get us back in. They even recommended a plumber, Steve Clark, who has given us similar service. We are now waiting on the thaw to get the air conditioner portion installed which is sitting in their facility. The unit is wifi capable and will contact H.E.R.O. if a problem develops. We joke with friends that our thermostat gets HBO and Cinemax. We have and will continue to recommend them without hesitation or reservation. read more

One sentence review: "Run away from this place." I would avoid this place and find someone else. This company is quickly becoming a scam real quick. Get you signed up for their service no problem, but they have slowly broken my furnace every time they come here. I started with a furnace cleaning. Wound up with a broken manifold, igniter, and gas sending unit. I have had multiple apparently untrained techs to my house for repair, all leaving me with various issues that weren't there when the tech got here. When trying to discuss with Glenn the owner, I got lectured about how the owner of a restaurant doesn't cook burgers, he hires cooks, and he cant go out and do every job. Except when the cooks are breaking the grills and not cooking the burgers, the owner needs to get their company in line. Run far and fast from this batch of scam artists. 35 years in the business is apparently 35 years of learning to scam people better. Which is sad cause your company came highly recommended originally. Good luck being a burger cook or burger cook owner or whatever you want, cause you won't have customers left if you keep this up. read more

We were refferd to this company Glenn got angry when I started asking questions after Glenn put a capacitor and the fun will stop, he got pretty angry and said I was not going to tell him how to do his job after 33 years of experience yelling, today the original company who intalled the ac on our house came in itbhad the wrong capacitor, my husband tried to work with him even offered the capacitor back as we dont have any use for it but they don't want to work with us in returning our money for a job that didn't fix our AC. I cannot believe the service techs in DeKalb here, this is the 3rd one and the most serious I have dealt with, I will not in any circumstance have an owner (glen) of the company yell back at my wife when the job wasn't complete the first time. I had glen come to fix my ac pd the 88 for the check up. he was great and came to find out I had an electrical problem, he gave me a contact to call, and they came out and fixed it. at that point, glen told me before I needed a capacitor so again I say okay, another 188, (checked online i could have bought for 15.00 and installed in 15 min) he left and we thought all was okay. 1 day later its not okay and never was because when I turned my air on, it wasn't cold, its wasn't cooling the house, he told my wife he got it running , that's all he had time for., while he was leaving Yelled at her, If you don't like what we're saying turn around and leave you didn't have to be swearing and cussing at my wife we are NOT that type of people. since that time the fan is not working and shuts down after getting hot, I finally called a place we deal with at my business, said it sounds like the guy put in a wrong model compacitor. i explained to his secretary (his wife) there should have been other checks to determine what the issue was when he was here, i called another company, got another opinion, even my wife knew the fan was overheating, so all the checks we not done it wasn't complete, the other company said fan is going bad and should have been noted, but it was not as it was not checked. I have been in the service industry for 23 years, #1` you never speak bad about the customer, as i was told my wife was rude, she said this to me over the phone. but didn't know she has Aspergers. 2ndly you never come to someones house and yell at them, it is a good thing i was not at home. he said he did all he could do and was angry. this is a piss poor representation of a company NO ONE yells at a customer i'm not sure who taught you ethics, I'm not looking for anything for free, i am just not stupid enough to pay another 88 bucks, I'm 300.00 in the red on this and still not working. HORRIBLE..
